What are you DRINKING?!

Did you ever stop to think about just what goes down poor Geralt's throat when he takes a potion?I don't mind the White Myrtle Petals or the Fool's Parsley Leaves or the Berbercane Fruit. Even the Sewant Mushrooms and Green Mold aren't too bad.But think about the "skinnable" items: Drowner Brain, Drowned Dead Tongue, Abomination Lymph, Ghoul Blood, Venom Glands, Cadaverine ... the list of truly disgusting ingredients goes on and on.In this case, I am not role-playing. Geralt is drinking that horrible crap, not me. :) I imagine all the stuff he went through to become a witcher in the first place got him used to it. So, which ingredient sounds ickiest to you? Which would you really, really rather not consume, if this stuff were real?

Lol! You know, since it's Geralt drinking and not me, I haven't given this much thought.I'd have to say anything to do with ghouls. Resurrected humans who eat other humans, rotting yet still alive. Yuck. :(

Pretty much, with the exceptions of the wing membranes and beast livers, most of the ingredients I use are flowers- except those special ingredients---just can't handle thinking about the gloppy smoothies he has to drink!

"Dagon secretions" sound yucky to me.The zeugl was the most disgusting creature. So I wouldn't like to drink anything from it either.BUt both being special mutagens, I really have no choice.I have no problem with necrophage stuff though. They eat us. We eat them.....It's a cycle, really.... ;)

Since a zeugl lives in the filth and sewers, I agree. To me it's the werewolf hair soup: he's supposed to drink.... hair???? *vomit*

Huh... and what about the pith from a mud golem? That sounds tasty? The ones I really have an objection to are venom glands from a basilisk. I mean, that poison's supposed to be really potent. How do you add it to anything and gulp it down. It's not yucky, but just weird.

Since I'm writing dialogue for Geralt, it makes me think about things in a different way than I did when I was just playing the game.

Yeah, I was thinking of Abomination Lymph or Cadaverine, for much the same reasons.

Yeah, "secretion" never sounds too appetizing. :)

*laugh* I'm glad you can think of it that way!

Hair in normal food is fairly disgusting. But given all of the horrible ingredients that go into the alchemy pot, I think hair sounds fairly innocuous in comparison.

That does sound icky. And any creature that can talk is a person, so it's almost cannibalism, which is all the more horrible.Yes, I think we all have plenty of reasons to be glad we're not Geralt. :)

Yes! Just about the only saving grace is that after it's all been dumped into strong alcohol, at least it'll be sterile. Yucky, but sterile. :)

I always thought that what Geralt drinks are products of distillation (although they 're not), and only now i noticed. Instinctively i put aside every disgusting image, so that the game wouldn't become distasteful for me. In my thoughts, Geralt distilled all the filthy monster parts, and then throw them away (while the truth is that he actually boils them with alcohol *bleh* ).But i made a really shocking thought, right in the beginning: vitriol? The man drinks vitriol? His stomach must be like the sea turtle's which eats the most dangerous jellyfish in the world.

Oh come now. Coca-cola contains worse things than vitriol. It all depends on the concentration of the substance in question...Anyway, I always thought that Geralt only drinks the infuson. You know, like tea. You don't eat the actual tea leaves when you drink tea, do you?

You mean...tea with drowner brain? *picturing Geralt sit in a english pose, sipping tea like a gentleman, drowner brain floating into the pot*

What am I drinking? Milk in the morning, tea during a day and beer in the evening :). That's what I thought you talk about when I saw the topic title :)You think drinking potions made of monster tissues is disgusting? Have you forgotten that Geralt is able to eat those remains RAW. And he even (after mutation) gain health points :)For me most disgusting are alghoul marrow and all kinds of teeth. But I'm curious what ectoplasm tastes like :)

And to think Geralt can eat some of that raw...Imagine a waiter + Geralt scenario:Waiter: "Good evening Mr. Geralt. And what may I get for you to drink? A fresh dose of necrophage marrow or secretions from a fish god? Or may I recommend the spit from the ugliest vampire known? .....I see. You want the basilisk poison? Yes sir. It's quite exotic. We flavor it with floating drowner brain tissue and werewolf hair......No sir, we are very particular which part of the body we take the hair from."O_OI think I'll go for a walk now.

I wouldn't worry too much about what Geralt's pouring down his throat, he's been mutated to be able to deal with it. Take a look at what you're drinking e.g. Gatorade: Brominated Vegetable Oil, Sucralose, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Monopotassium Phosphate, Glycerol Ester of Wood Rosin, various artificial colours. Coca-Cola: High Fructose Corn Syrup and/or Sucrose, caramel colour, phosphoric acid, caffeine. Etc, etc. Since when was the human body (as opposed to Geralt's) designed for crap like that? That said, I've got to agree with earlier posts - some of the ingredients in the game are pretty bad. Anything requiring blood (of any kind) does it as far as I'm concerned, just can't imagine drinking some creatures blood!
