I support what Dandelion did in 2, I really do, but what kind of idiot prints an not-so-inconspicuous political pamphlet about Henselt the Hog while standing in the middle of his war camp? Yeah yeah, he was an employed spy, but still, he could have written it better. He not only endangered himself but Geralt as well. I could not forgive such stupidity. I reckoned Dandelion smarter than that, or has he had amnesia as well? I just wanted to knock some sense into him. I hope that he, while still being goofy and fun, is not to be a complete dullard and has evolved as character since The Last Wish and Blood of Elves. To be fair I know not much about him, and I never went to Vergen in 2. Ergo I never saw that quest that had Dandelion in another pickle, maybe more fitting to his character. Maybe that was why I didn't warm up to him?
IMO the Vergen part was way more fitting. He was mostly all for the revolution for the non-humans and supported them. Plus, he helped Geralt lure the succubus out which was pretty funny and also a lot of fun for him I recon. More of a Dandelion-typical quest IMO.
I'm very curious about the crafting and the mutagens myself.
Especially when it comes to the toxicity side-effects of mutagens~
THIS so much. We have seen the toxicity meter, but we have heard or seen almost NOTHING so far about toxicity.
Toxicity (love that word) is on my top priority list of what I'd like to see.
Especially:
- Which negative effects will it have on Geralt if too high?
- Which positive effects will the alchemy skills give us if toxicity is high?
- Will the negative effects of toxicity kick in instantly, or will they come after some minutes or high-power-time (because, why should we bring toxicity to the edge if it does not have an temporarily VERY positive effect with a kickback later on?)
- Are there VISUAL effects of toxicity (please yes, please yes, plaeaseee) and if so, which ones are they (1 example) ?
OT: I also meant to say that if we do see game mechanics explored, I for one would vote that they should be shown surrounded by the context we have already seen. I'm talking about the same NML area from the 35 min video, played differently displaying the alternative mechanics.
Agreed. There are some advantages with that:
1. We are already familiar with the gameplay and will see the changes and modifiers more clearly
2. If they make a "real monster fight" without "toning down" of the difficulty for demo purposes we have more of a comparison
3. No spoilers in this case
Probably has been mentioned already (if so count this as another vote), but a commentated walkthrough (preferably by Peter Gelencser) of a monster hunting assignment from the very beginning to the end would be nice. I'd imagine it to play out like this:
1) Getting the assignment, either by talking to people or by bulletin board notice and how it shows up and is detailed in the journal.
2) Figuring out what creature Geralt's about to face and where it is located, by talking to people again, and/or by figuring it out through PROPER investigation (via Witcher Senses) of the surroundings, meaning WITHOUT exclamation marks on the mini map, blatant UI hints spoiling the type of creature in advance or any highlighting of climbable ledges and the likes, and again showing the progress in the journal as the mystery about the creature is revealed.
3) Preparing for the confrontation, by first checking the appropriate journal entries for the weaknesses of the now identified creature, entering the meditation UI and then brewing potions, crafting bombs or preparing oils accordingly. Drinking of potions, equipping of bombs, applying of oils, and off to the face-off.
4) Cut to the moment the beast is already slain, and Geralt looting the cadaver for ingredients, special ingredients and the trophy.
5) Cut to the moment the trophy is handed in, Geralt receiving the payment for it and thus completing the assignment.
Agreed, though IMO - if I may add something - they should take a monster we already saw in the previous videos.
I am 100% sure that the material was cut and that what we saw in the gameplay videos was just the short version.
If we would be able to see the WHOLE monster hunt, with beginning, investigations, research up until the end while showing mechanics in detail such as the skill tree, crafting, alchemy, and combat we could have a good overview of the mechanics, a better picture of how monster hunting works, a reinsurance that what we saw so far was cut short due to demo purposes and we would not have any additional spoilers due to the fact that they take a monster we already know.
