What exactly is a "Dwan"?

What exactly is a "Dwan"?

I've played through the Witcher 1, and am considering getting the witcher 3 when it comes out, but have not played through witcher 2 yet (maybe some day I will, but money is a tad tight at the moment).

Cedric the Elf mentions killing a "Dwan", and after looking in many places, I've yet to figure out what a Dwan is.

a dhoinne is elven for human I believe .

Ah sure enough. Didn't occur to me that was just an elf-word for humans, I thought that was a type of creature, or maybe another term for Witcher.
