What game are you currently playing

Yes, the actual OG NWN. So, the original. Diamond Edition.
I wish I had OG NWN2, too. I lost my copy in all the moves.

So far, I mentioned NWN a few times, but I have never mentioned why the game would be so interesting to me now.

I've actually only finished it once, and it was when my knowledge of English was pretty poor. That led to missing out on actually understanding the characters and enjoying any more content beyond plain exploring. I finished the game nonetheless. Now I come with a Lvl30 Street Cred30 in that department and it unlocks a lot of stuff that is actually new to me.

Graphically, NWN felt like a downgrade to OG BG back in the day, because BG had all the detailed, tailored maps that are like art compared to NWN maps. Seeing NWN maps today is even less exciting, since I recognize they're too orthogonal and perpendicular for what they should actually be. So, graphically, NWN is even more underwhelming today than it was back in the day.

I didn't know at all about the modding capability and all the stuff that might have arisen from the engine. Thanks for sharing about that @Spockprime . While I will unlikely play more than the base game, it's a nice piece of gamer's lore.

When the NWN fever is over, I will be back to Nomadic tracks in CP77. I got a fun kart track to conquer and wonder if that can be done in under 1 minute. What do you think?
Yes, the simple map structure was part of the tool design strategy. On the positive side, it was extremely easy to create all sorts of functional maps, even for people artistically incompetent like me. On the negative side, the simplicity of it meant that the maps were not very pretty to look at.

NWN was one of the first attempts to bring the functionality of D&D to an online medium. I played a few of the modules created by people, but building them was actually a bit, erm, non-user-friendly. Still, had loads of fun with the game itself. Pretty awesome for the time. I loved how when you parried, blocked, or riposted, there were actual animations for each of them.

Wow i do remember neverwinter nights, it was very hard game to play and understand. I wonder cheats still works :D
The game is quite hard and time consuming. I wonder how in seven heavens I finished it without caring for what characters say, back in the day.

Tho, one thing I remember. Aribeth pops out from around the corner in Chapter 4.
Me long ago: time to die... biat**.

Me today: this is so much bigger than you and your puny little revenge... biat**.

Tho, I let her rot in cell this time. She seemed to have found her peace.
So... back to doing CP77 karting now, I guess.

I'm playing Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. I completed the main quest, and now I'm finishing up some remaining side content. This is the best Ubisoft game I have ever played, and I actually found myself caring about the protagonist and his story. The game does a good job of breaking up the usual AC monotony with interesting travel and exploration. And the combat is the best of any AC games I have played so far.

Honestly I found the combat fun but it becomes a bit repetitive and boring after a while because of the lack of variety. Unlike Shadows for example on which you can switch between serveral weapons type, which offer specific combat styles, capacities and stealth abilities.

I love that one thief character that you can get as a hireling when he dies and you resurrect him:

"I was drifting in a peaceful place, surrounded by warmth. I...I thought I saw my father. And then it was like, "YOINK!" and now I'm back here."

(Or something like that.)

I gave a shot to The Beast Of Reincarnation thanks to Game Pass and well, the game is pretty bad :(
- Graphisms looks quite terrible
- The game runs poorly
- Artstyle is bland
- Controls are bad
- Combats are messy
- No idea about the story, but the begining is not really engaging, to say the least
- And the worst, there are QTE
So I uninstalled it after less than an hour...

I kinda solo the game. Guess I missed out.

Only NWN2 is forcing me to have team members. And I find it fun.

I saw that. Looked at some of the promo videos and it didn't really catch me.

Looking into it, I see it's made by Game Freak... Who routinely fumble performance and gameplay for Pokemon games, let alone something like this, so I'm not too surprised.

In other news:

I've been playing some little Rogue-lites to pass time when I don't feel like playing anything proper.

First game has been Backpack Dungeon. Which is decent, if a bit one-dimensional with certain set ups being significantly better than others.

Second game has been Pathogenic. Which is alright. Not a big fan of the challenges to unlock new starting items being so dumb (Half of them are "Beat the game in under X minutes" and the other half are "Have this very specific build in this Rogue-lite game with random items"). Also I recently unlocked a new feature that allows items to spawn with prefixes, but they're all universally bad meaning that 60% of items I find now just plain suck (On top of the nature of a Rogue-lite to have many items that just suck anyway).

Which is a shame, I like the idea of Pathogenic. You being a bacteria going through a human body, picking up new organelles to change how you behave. The artstyle is decent. But the gameplay just feels lacking... It's no Binding of Isaac or even Enter the Gungeon (Of which I had my own qualms with in regards to the lack of ammo drops).

Replaying Star Wars Outlaws. I bought it when it first was released, and found it too frustrating to finish. There's been a lot of QOL work done on it, and a lot of reworking the more frustrating mechanics. It's pretty enjoyable this time around.

I still haven't gotten around to it. I'll definitely grab it on sale at some point.

While on the topic of Star Wars, a game I wish had done better is Squadrons. MP kind of went to pot after the first year or so. I wish they had added a co-op campaign or at least some structured missions. They did a great job on the game, itself.

I'm done for.

I got sucked into NWN2. I re-purchased the OG version.

The only thing I remember from my first gameplay MANY years ago was the highly traumatizing trial. Without speaking English properly, it was a nasty hell to get through properly.

This time though... I'm so looking forward to that part.
