What kind of mods you're planning when REDKit will be released?

Hello there,

I'm curious about what you're going to do/develop with the REDKit once it will be released.

Something Witcher related or a mod completely new?

From CDProjekt statement they said that you can basically do whatever you want, so I'm eager to start working with it.

As for me I'm working on an adventure based on "At the mountains of madness" by H.P. Lovecraft ( actually in development using UDK ) and a Blade Runnerish mod that will feature melee combat, since its already setup into the Witcher game itself

The Hunt for Iorveth.

"The Battle of Vergen was for all intents and purposes a death blow to the Scoia'Tael, one of their last great leaders had called them to fight and four hundred had answered Iorveth's call, only to arrive at a battle already lost. They fought valiantly, protecting many of the peasantry who attempted to flee but they were cut down almost to a man. Iorveth himself barely escaped with his life.

Yet it did not end there for more Scoia'Tael units had moved into the Pontar yet arrived to late for the battle, now they linger there, find themselves surrounded by the Kaedwenis on all sides. Henselt's victory has provided the north with an opportunity it cannot miss.

While the armies of Nilfgaard advance northward, pushing the Temerian army into Vizima and forcing Queen Meve to retreat into Aedirn, Radvoid the Stern of Redenaia has sent a force into the Pontar to hunt an eliminate Iorveth and any other Scoia'Tael leader that might hiding there.

For this task he has enlisted the help of Vernon Roche, the only remaining Special Forces Commander in the North. If he is successful the Scoia'Tael may finally be destroyed and North will be able to devote all it's resources to combating the Nilgaardian Army. "

If you can get me the voice actors for Roche, Iorveth, Siegfried, Yaevin, Ves, Radovid and others then sure, but if not then sadly it will just be subtitles.

I will be focusing on a number of things, the impact of choices like the one between Siegfried/Yaevin/Neutral in TW1 ( and whether or not you spared any of them if you were neutral ). The choice with Henselt, Temeria, Iorveth in Vergen ( whether Geralt helped him or not ) and so on. These things will have a massive impact on how the story plays out and even on the gameplay.

Hoping for a restoration of cut content, new monsters from the books and slight tweaks to existing enemies to make them more difficult.

I'm going to create a quest, where Geralt travels and discovers a newly entered cursed Elf from the other Sphere. She, however, also suffers from amnesia and must piece together her memory by visiting landmarks and through conversation. She doesn't remember anything about her world, her past, or even what curse she's plagued with. As time passes and you get to know her better, you also get to see the curse develop. Geralt then sets out to cure her of the curse, by researching books and consulting old sages but... and boom. Enough spoilers. It's a story I've been working on, fan fiction if you will. However, it's adapted for a game. So it's a video game script. Derp! :p

But yeah, game design is something I'm really passionate about and this is a mod I really want to make. I also have an adventure idea for Skyrim. But yeah. Looking forward to the modkit :)

Look forward to all the mods. Stinks that we can't get voice acting, but unfortunately, that's unfeasible.

It would be sick if CDPR would take some really popular mods and fully voice them.

You will definitely be able to make quests and NPCs with custom recorded voiced dialogue in REDKit; however, to get good quality recordings you need a quality mic and some soundproofing (and a talented voice actor, of course).

I don't know what scripting language they use, and if I will be able to export models and animations from Blender, but if I can, I will try to refine the combat. Witcher 2 has a deep metagame, but frankly quite dull combat, when it comes to action. It's lots of preparation but when it comes to execution it's just spam:

Roll, hit, quin, hit, roll and repeat. I will attempt to add Sword-Sign, Sign-Sign, Sword-Sword combos and also perhaps add more effects to indicate whether or not an existing or a new combo is being successfully performed. I really hope they refine that aspect of the combat for the Witcher 3, but I will see what I can do with that modkit.

Will basically try to target the acrobatic combat, which, in my opinion, how it should have been, given the witcher's biology. Something similar to God of War or Devil may Cry/Alice: The madness returns.

Again, all depends on how the Engine works. I am not a very good programmer, but the game already has combos, so if the language is something common (like Lua or C++), it shouldn't be all that difficult to figure out. As for animations and particle effects, depends on the Engine's compatibility with Blender.

I agree, combat is something that I would like to improve too, and since the animation tree is already setup I think that it would be a matter or adding new combos, balance the speed of the animation and setup keyboard input to vary the combos themself.
Basically speed up everything and make it look like God of War / Devil May Cry style, fast and more focused on action, I would love to see that!
About particles I don't think it is necessary to export from blender or any other packages, since usually game engines have an already built-in particle effects tool that allows you to create more or less whatever you want ( as in UDK or Unity )
About the animations it all depends on the import options, means that if they're going to use a property format or a common format.
I really hope for a FBX options, it would be so easy to import content!
Too bad that I have to wait another 6-8 months to play with it, but in the meantime I will build two different worlds, so when it will come out I'll have already content to test the engine...

Can't wait!

First I'll do a really simple proof of concept-style mod only to get to know all of REDkit's features and test its capabilities and limitations.

Having done that and provided my work and studies leave enough time, I'll have a go at a (potentially large-scale) story-based mod set in a whole new universe, hopefully together with a team of other enthusiastic modders. As I did not apply for the beta due to the lack of openly published mods/maps, I'll use the time until release to conceive and elaborate a concept complete with content, time schedule and so on.

In all honesty i doubt I'll be able to pull off the idea that i have in mind, since I'm a total noob. But i'll give it a try. basically i have a huge epic prequel with ciri as the protagonist based on the hero's journey. plan to cut it into 5 parts based on five regions, which are:

Part 1)
Ciri appears out of the blue in kaer morhen, reminiscing about her time spent there training with Geralt (tutorial). But suddenly the riders pass through kaer morhen, they try to capture ciri, she fights back and drives them back, as she fights them back she sees that geralt is riding along with them. Ciri is intent to follow and rescue geralt but the other witchers and triss try to stop her, telling her that is too risky and that geralt wouldn’t want her to risk herself. Nevertheless she escapes and goes looking for geralt.

Part 2)
Ciri looks for dandelion, geralt’s friend, for information. He’s in a northern city or town; maybe tretogor or that university city in redania and is being chased by a criminal organization whom he owes money perhaps (or some other reason.) after recuing him he tells her that he went to rescue yennefer and hasn’t been seen since. (Meets triss who tries to stop her and fights her.)

Part 3)
Ciri find herself in the capital cintra looking for Yeneffer while looking for her she encounters Letho and the other witchers at first they start to fight thinking they are enemies but when they see that they both use the witcher style of sword fighting they stop and become friends. She finds out that they were friend of geralt and that they’ve been looking after Yeneffer who has run away/ is missing. She finally finds yen but she has just been captured by nilfgaard agents. She drives them back yen however doesn’t remember ciri and attacks her, ciri has to fight her. after a while Yeneffer starts to remember who is ciri and calms down. then leaves with Letho and the others, the witchers tell her that geralt exchanged himself for her, And where she can find the wild hunt.

Part 4
While ciri is warping into the place where the wild hunt is going to be, a spell brings her back to the normal world. She’s been ambushed by the lodge and subdued. However nilfgaard agents also suddenly appear and help free her. while the agents and the lodge are fighting each other. Ciri manages to escape after defeating a powerful sorceress either (philipa or sile)

Part5)
After escaping she goes to the meeting place of the wildhunt. She starts to fight them but they are too many, luckily the witchers from kaer morhen arrive to help her along with triss. In the final battle she has to confront the king and a brainwashed geralt. Seeing that if she continues to fight she will end up killing geralt, she ends up exchanging herself with geralt. After a final farewell she leaves with the riders, with geralt desperately and uselessly chasing after them.

Yes i know, pretty much impossible considering i'm a noob. truth be told id have a better chance turning this into a fanfiction than an actual mod.

If you make new NPCs having them fully voiced by someone is cool. However with Geralt and the NPCs from the base game, people would want the real voices.

I still think it would be cool if CDPR held a contest where people could create quests for the main game. If they fit in well with the real game, the top picks could be fully voiced by CDPR's voice people and included in the game as a patch. It would be an excellent way to 1. get people into modding, 2. to get more content into the game with minimal effort, and 3. a great way to get even more brownie points from their loving fans ;)

I'll most certainly do some sort of "Blood of Elves" with my three buddies. We're getting pretty hardcore about planning it. And yes, fully voiced, and no, not by the games actual cast lol =( I wish.
