What Kotaku wants in The Witcher 3

Found a good lunch break article to spend time on.

I'm going to quote a response to the article, rather than quote from the (no surprises) article.
So you want a smoother difficulty curve, but you want them to keep the game difficult? That kind of goes against what you want. I like the early difficulty of Witcher 2. The game smacked you in the face and told you that the game isn't going to hold your hand. It meant that I would actually have to try. And the biggest thing to learn early on, is that your character isn't some sort of demi-god. Geralt is going to die if you're not careful.
some of the points i agreed with, some of them were kinda meh, but the one that i fully support is to keep the Dandelion written journals, regardless of how involved Dandelion is in the story. Adding that in the Witcher 2 was brilliant and really enjoyable

"No surprises" article indeed. He alchemy experience sure sounded weird
. Sometimes, we can all benefit from a wiki or youtube tutorial
. Sorry to hear about that. I did like his comparison to Geralt as a "cowboy" of sorts, though
.

All they need to do is include a combat tutorial section on release, this time around.

The initial difficulty curve of TW2 was steep, but the utter beauty and atmosphere of the beginning game, was enough to make me, for one, strive to master the combat... one of the most rewarding experiences in gaming i've ever had.

It would probably have been better if the guy who wrote the article had actually read some of the OTHER articles about TW3 first.

Yeah, he's using images from TW3 reveals, but it's kind of obvious he hasn't read all the news, especially when he talks about combat and the journal.

I don't particularly care about what the Kotaku wants, I've really liked everything I've seen and read about the TW3 thus far. The only sticky point has been the Focus mode business, but we don't know much about it anyways.

Ever since I first played Act I of the first game, I've been thinking the same thing, "that's the Man with No Name".

I agree with most of it. It's even aligned with the stuff CDP have already announced - better PC UI, faster combat, keeping the non-linearity, fixing the doors etc.

I'd prefer Geralt writing his own journal though, like TW1. Having him reflect on things with his own internal voice was pretty cool, and would be fitting for the personal journey that TW3 is going to be.

I can't take kotaku serious anymore, they are full of sensational journalism and many times their articles are uninformative, most issues are already considered by CDPR as you can read in those many interviews, articles, podcasts and videos by now.

It's like Kirk Hamilton wrote an article without any online search at all. If the article was published like 3-4 weeks ago, i wouldn't complain, but now? As if they feel compelled to write something about TW3 too, because everybody else does it also.

I agree with most of what kotaku said and hope CDPR does some of the suggestions.

I have no time to go through the points now but maybe another time.

I tend to agree with some of his points actually. I got reminded of my own game play when I first gave up during the first hour of playing, then only picking it back up the next weekend. Why I never placed a point in alchemy. Etc etc. Some of their points are also similar to what we usually voice out in here in the forum, the UI, map, etc.

I prefer Dandelion's voice over introductions per act, just to give it a more epic story telling feel. Geralt's voice over will be use in personal story telling.

I agree with over half of their points, but those are mainly things that CDPR have already said they're doing, so the entire article seemed a little pointless.
