What new technologies exist today that was not present when Cyberpunk was created?

So, what real world technologies exist or is upcoming that should be in cyberpunk 2077? Times have changed and some new technologies have come out that did not exist at the time of writing the cyberpunk books. Just wondered what should probably be in 2077. remember,, it should be way more advanced than what we have.

Also, this is not scifi, this is stuff that is already out or almost gauranteed to come very soon, not some far future.

Lets see,

Driverless cars are becoming a reality:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_driverless_car

Actual Virtual Reality looks like it will actually becoming a real thing this year or next year thanks to oculus rift. Everybody in many industries are really excited about it. I actually have the DK1 dev kit and blown away by it. This is not to be confused with cyberspace/netrunner. Virtual Reality and augmented reality is probably what the average user will probably use, but the true hackers should still jack directly into cyberspace.

augmented reality

One of the biggest surprises is 3d printing
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_printing
It can even print guns
http://www.solidconcepts.com/news-releases/worlds-first-3d-printed-metal-gun-manufactured-solid-concepts/
Or even ORGANS! which is called bioprinting
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/news/10604035/3D-printing-human-tissue-and-organs-to-spark-ethics-debate.html

Drones

Just a few off the top of my head.

I knew someone who worked on lasers for the guv'ment. Surprisingly advanced already, and they're bound to become more and more powerful and miniature over time. Invisible beam-firing killing machines seem like an appealing product.

Definitely don't want to see that kind of thing in the game, though. In fact, adding stuff to the game world just because it exists/almost exists in our world seems like the quickest way to subvert the 2020 vibe. I'd be fine with them ignoring real-world advances entirely.

Drugstores cars - in 2020 (AI pilots were availableas an upgrade.)
VR and Augmented reality - in 2020.
3D printing - in 2020 and very common, including guns but not bioprinting.
Drones - in 2020.

Now, some things that weren't in 2020:

Wi-Fi
Hybrid Engines
Social Media

Now I am struggling. Frankly, Mike pretty much nailed most of the innovations of the last 25 years.

What about using drones as a delivery service?

Google are looking at doing something similar I believe. But yes, Drones were capable of deliveries.

The proliferation of cell phones (when Cyberpunk was written a cell phone was bigger than your toaster, and only the wealthy could afford them, they cost like 2 dollars a minutes to use.

The Internet as it is today (when CP was written the internet was something most of you wouldn't even recognize.

GPS for non-military applications

As long as they don't deliver destruction directly to your home like in Count Zero...

The big problem with lasers is, and will continue to be, the power supply.
They can, and do, make a laser you can mount on a handgun or use as a pointer in a meeting.
But to provide one with enough power to actually damage something you need a semi-trailer (or at least pickup truck) size power supply.
And power generation/storage isn't likely to advance much between now and 2077 unless someone changes the laws of physics.

I do know, it's Daily Mail, so it can never be considered as the most trustworthy source. But even though...

You're right that the high power you need for kilowatt lasers is nothing close to handheld (though it's in the range of auto battery packs); the more interesting question may be how low the power and duty cycle can be and still have a weapon that does crippling damage. Lasers in the 200 watt range can damage metal targets, and the 3kW intermittent power you need for those is a lot more portable.

A kilowatt laser, with batteries, generator, and chiller, mounted on a technical is well within the realm of plausibility today.

Cause you ain't a man.

A REAL man could easily wield that. Hell, I'm thinking about buying a couple just so's I can do incline curls with a pair of them.

Fool. Sunday is chest.

Tuesday is lower body. Not gonna mix those up. What if I strain something?!

We call them, "Tripod Squats", by the way. Accessory work like Groinal Pull Ups, Pelvic Lunges and, of course, Barbell Hip Thrusts.
