This is what I have to say about Schiffs massively over simplified reference to Multiplayer FPS game theory:That's a problem no rpg or game with a pletora of weapons solved yet, 'cause modification options are just another take on progression just like the "same gun +1 dmg x 100 times" you were pointing out. They are all disfunctional weapons because of stats or crap mechanics. There are only 15 kinds of weapons in games without including variations (which don't really differ much right because they are variations), and weapon exploration woke up again only recently.

Can someone ask him to stop being so vague and actually post something with some substance? Perhaps he can start by explaining this mystical list of 15 weapon types that I can't find a single reference to with google.
It may also be worth explaining that this isn't a game mechanics thread, but a style thread. We are talking about those variations he is so dismissive of, not trying to ignore them.
