Ah, they are concealable, that shows some concern. I wonder if it was her choice.

As for practical..I give you the Buzzhand! I got this from some guys site.

I do SO want to make an impractical crazy cyborg!

@wisdom000

Well I always imagined that this whole blade mechanism is a bit more complicated and motion capable, than lets say penknife.

That she is capable of moving those blade to more combat ready position, like so:

In vid she is frozen in praying mantis pose, for dramatic and metaphorical effect.

I....... had not seen that image.......... or at least I had not noticed the left hand being so obviously rotated out of the way....

I stand completely corrected... and will shut up now, in heaps of shame....

Looking at the shape and angle of those blades again, they are very obviously slashing weapons. The curve on them gives them an exagerated cutting surface. Also, the fact that they gain at least a foot of extra range due to the spring mounting means the tips will be traveling about 30% faster than if they didn't have that extention, (if my estimates are correct.)

They are purely an attacking weapon though, you couldn't deflect or parry with them. Assasination seems a likely nature.

If those blades move the way i imagine they move, they could be used to deflect and parry.. If they are made of individual flexible joints, they could open all the way up like Nars's example, or they could lie down on the arm for defense..

I think I see how you are thinking, but my main concerns are how flimsy those joints would be if struck. They would not hold up to a sideways blow, whcih rules out defencive fighting. The way they are mounted though, as I said, makes them ideal for fast and unexpected strikes to unwary targets.

I see your point.. Tough we do not know how thick those blades and joints are.. I mean, the artwork is not that trustworthy when it comes to determining these things.. There seems to be plenty of room in the blade sockets on the arm, if those joints and the blades are as flimsy as they seem to be, your arm blades can prove to be useless if your assassination target is wearing any kind of armor.. (Your blades can even get stuck on the target, that can cause your blade to break from the joint.) Also, i just noticed that the joints appear to be ticker in the trailers, still not sure about the blades though..

Still, i think you are right.. They probably designed as a assassination tool, that says something about the girl on the trailer.. (She is either an assassin, or she uses them to kill her own enemies..)

I can.

I just figure that the blades are either mid-extension or mid-retraction. I figure that they fold out straighter, for an extended reach weapon.

Otherwise, yes; if those are the blades at full extension, it would make their use somewhat awkward. Not impossible to work around, but not as intuitive as, say, using a club weapon or a knife.

edit:

Looks like Nars covered it previously.

Uh... +1 post count? =p

Not a fan of sushi, but I could go for a pizza. And the best thing is that pizza works for every meal!

Amazing. Just amazing.

You people are seriously wack.

I would like to see a satisfying variety of weapons from each class. not including cyberweaponry, which I'd like to see all of:

Light Pistol: 2 at least

Medium Pistol: 3

Heavy Pistol: 4

V. Heavy Pistol: 3. - .577 Boomer Buster

Light SMG: 2

Med. SMG: 2

Hvy SMG: 3

Rifle: 4

Assault Rifle: 6 - 5.56 Sternmeyer M95; 7/62 FN-RAL

Shotgun: 4

Heavy Weapons: 6 - 30mm Antimatter Rifle;

V. Heavy Weapons (ACPA and FCB): 4

Grenades: 6 - Pistol grenades; Saucer grenades

Exotic Weapons: 6 - Battleglove; Paintball Gun; Tomcat Bow

Melee Weapons: 8 - Monosword

Ammunition: 6 - Armor Piercing Incendiary; Frag-Flechette; DPU;

I might list the most iconic for me in each class, or you guys can. If we haven't done this already. Actually, I'll list a few. Feel free to copy/pase and add/replace yours.

I'll be honest. I would like to see at least double that number for each weapon type. Sure the core game book listed that sort of number, but considering that there are well over 400 weapons in official print, I really would like to see more.

I don't even need each weapon to be significantly different from its peers. I want to evoke brand loyalty more than anything else. Surely that is a big part of Cyberpunk culture.

If it's not possible to have a HUGE slew of weapons at launch, I think it'd be grand if they could / would release minor updates over time, that add a few here and there (similar to the way GTA 5 is adding clothing / weapons / vehicles bit by bit in their updates.)
