This explains it all. It'd be great if they at least acknowledge all the issues and let us know they're going to fix it. The game's incredible, but so long as these bugs are around, it's just not enjoyable. Right now I can't even play because I've got some game-breaking bug that won't let me pull out my weapons no matter how many times I restart my game. I definitely felt annoyed that they constantly pushed back the release date numerous times, but it seems like the game was never ready for release. It might be a while before the game's officially playable, but I just hope they keep us in the loop.
This. I want a long conversation about the reasoning behind removal of so much cool stuff we were promised in the interviews and trailers.I want a statement addressing why content was cut.
[...] The point is that Square(in FF14s case) and Hello Games(No Man's Sky) released games that were either broken and/or lacked content that had been promised and hyped up, and they both did the right thing and fixed it. I fail to see how the genre of the game have anything to do with it. Single player games are constantly patched now, CDPR will release DLC and 2 expansions for this game, atleast that's what they have said. You're comparing a mmo to a AAA hyped up (FOR 8 YEARS) single player game. Stop.
I feel like this very much is a Final Fantasy XIV situation. With XIV fans of XI(the MMO) and Final Fantasy in general were pretty damned hyped, Square also had a pretty damn good reputation. So when that horrible launch happened they sat down, read through all the forum posts and realized that sure, they could just abandon the game and let it die off, but it would kill their reputation and all the goodwill they had fostered with the fans, kinda what CD Projekt have built up with their fans. Option 2 would be costly but would rebuild the trust and relationship with the fans, thanfully they went with option 2 and now the game is stronger than ever, one of the few MMOs still growing in player numbers.Preferred response?
Fix the game, uncensor it, add free content through DLC (braindances, customization, etc), and give us awesome DLC packs like The Witcher.
Basically continue to support the game. I fear they'll drop this sooner rather than later....I see people saying their rep would drop, but if they start losing enough money, they might write it off. I hope that doesn't happen, because the 90 hours I've spent so far on PC, I've had a great time with. For the most part.
So hopefully this is a Final Fantasy XIV situation. Where they stick to the game, and wow us with the changes, regaining that trust lost. If they drop the game, I feel like that will put more of a bad taste in gamers' mouths than possibly anything else.
I feel your pain, I did a longer reply to another thread where I make my guess about this. It fits this thread perfectly too, so sorry for my lazyness and quoting myself.I don't care about the bugs.
I don't care about the performance issues.
I don't care about the crashes.
I want a statement addressing why content was cut.
Why they ruined the immersion.
Why the AI doesn't work, or is non-existent.
Why they retroactively censored the game mere hours after launch.
These aren't bugs. These aren't mistakes. These were CHOICES.
They did this willingly and purposefully. I want to know why.
