What would be your preferred response from CDPR?

  • Don't need public statement, put nose to grindstone and fix like Hello Games did with No Mans Sky.

  • I want a response. I want to know how and why the game was released as is and how they'll fix it.

I'd be totally satisfied with an acknowledgement of non-bug related issues and a roadmap going forward. In that case, I'd keep the game and just do summat else for six months, knowing that it's being worked on.

Actual... both answers.

The No Mans Sky references kinda got me. I think (in that state, I hope) this game will have the same future and become in 2 or maybe 3 years that was promised and advertised.

At the moment, this game is just a huge Anthem flashback for me. And the insanely good story prevents me also to continue it, because I want to finish the story with the game around, I or we, got promised and advertised.

It'd be great if they at least acknowledge all the issues and let us know they're going to fix it. The game's incredible, but so long as these bugs are around, it's just not enjoyable. Right now I can't even play because I've got some game-breaking bug that won't let me pull out my weapons no matter how many times I restart my game. I definitely felt annoyed that they constantly pushed back the release date numerous times, but it seems like the game was never ready for release. It might be a while before the game's officially playable, but I just hope they keep us in the loop.

They need to make a statement. It doesn't necessarily have to be some deep heartfelt statement. It needs to acknowledge how badly they screwed up and explain what the plan is going forward.

We all know they'll, at the very least, release a few patches to make it playable on last gen consoles. if they don't, the lawsuits will be incoming. They need to explain some kind of long term plan. If there is no long term plan... They'll lose a lot of people. Permanently. Myself included in that merry bunch.

Acknowledging the failures and releasing immediate updates was a great first step. Comments made on the investor call were another, but were addressed internally rather than to the community - admitting the damage to reputation, for example - I'm glad that internally they're covering this base with both those who worked on it, and those who helped fund it...like it or not, this is an important aspect of keeping the wallets happy. Now that those wallets are at least placated, now they need to address these ones. Us, out here in the wild.

We got our PR response, which is more than we got from Hello Games with NMS for example, so some lessons have been learned from similar circumstances. But we've also seen developers almost immediately publish roadmaps for the community when stuff like this happens, and they haven't done that. I don't think CDPR has grown into this massive soul-less money-hungry beast. I think they just screwed up. I really hope that soon - likely after the holiday break - they'll start addressing things more directly and tell us what's getting fixed, what's getting re-worked, and what's getting added.

It might even be beneficial to release the update roadmaps, and free DLC/paid DLC plans all at once, and then push the DLC launches back to prioritize fixing what's there...but I do think the gamers should be given something more than a JPEG with words on it.

I'm fine with either option as well.

As long as they give Cyberpunk the updates it needs, I'll be happy.

I think the performance side of things got recognised well on their last statement. What I'd like to know is, what are their plans for Cyberpunk 2077 going forward.

I have to say that the potential of what this game can become with proper effort is something extraordinary in my opinion. The game failed to deliver for me in it's current state and lacked so much, it's actually depressing. On the other hand, sheer size of the map, the visual beauty of it all and the music is so well done it's something to salute. In my opinion it lacks too much content, interactivity etc. for it to be properly enjoyed. So I want these things addressed.

I have +60hours in the game on PC, never finished the story. It all just started to feel too void and hollow I couldn't keep on playing. Waiting for AI and content improvements. And a system that would make V's past actions and relations count for something..

Preferred response?

Fix the game, uncensor it, add free content through DLC (braindances, customization, etc), and give us awesome DLC packs like The Witcher.

Basically continue to support the game. I fear they'll drop this sooner rather than later....I see people saying their rep would drop, but if they start losing enough money, they might write it off. I hope that doesn't happen, because the 90 hours I've spent so far on PC, I've had a great time with. For the most part.

So hopefully this is a Final Fantasy XIV situation. Where they stick to the game, and wow us with the changes, regaining that trust lost. If they drop the game, I feel like that will put more of a bad taste in gamers' mouths than possibly anything else.

They have given us statement for base ps4 & xbox one.. and will focus on those consoles for 2 months perhaps "small bits of updates for pc & next gen consoles.. After ps4 & xbox one is "surprisingly playable" then they should talk about features which ones are possible & which ones are not, and give the community a list of content/features that will come in 2021... specially statements of what they said in the 48 min gameplay in 2018 about if they will be able too create " we've greatly enhanced our crowd and community systems to create the most believable city in any open-world game to date. The city's streets are bustling with crowds of people from all facets of life, all living their lives, with a full day & night cycle. "
will they be able too create the " deep dynamic epic wanted system where they send NCPD officers too the crime scenes on the spot you committed " in the game it does tell you once you commit illegal activity that the NCPD will send patrol unit to your location & investigate the crime, but now NCPD instantly starts shooting the player and teleporting behind you etc.." , and if there is a possibility that the patrol unit send would be a corrupt officer that you might be able to bribe "would be sweet touch", & police car chases not only for the player but also for npc criminals as well or police officers chasing "on foot" behind npc criminals with little parkouring "

CDPR needs too talk about ALLOT of things with the community so its obvious not too expect all at once.. But yeah talking about the future contents/features is essential for CDPR. that's what i am hoping for and excited i will wait patient another year if majority if not more features will be added... because i said this multiple times.. i will not finish the game until i feel immersed in the city with features & details.

I don't care about the bugs.
I don't care about the performance issues.
I don't care about the crashes.

I want a statement addressing why content was cut.
Why they ruined the immersion.
Why the AI doesn't work, or is non-existent.
Why they retroactively censored the game mere hours after launch.

These aren't bugs. These aren't mistakes. These were CHOICES.

They did this willingly and purposefully. I want to know why.

This. I want a long conversation about the reasoning behind removal of so much cool stuff we were promised in the interviews and trailers.

Could make a long list, but instead all I honestly want to know is:

What happened to 'Real rpg, not just a shooter'?

"We've effed up. We vow to not only fix all the bugs and glitches, but to restore all the cut content and glaringly missing features PRIOR to any kind of expansions and/or multiplayer, as well as work hard to improve the things that are there but so bare-bones it's laughable. We wont rest until the game is packed with options and features and paths you've come to expect from our games."

You can do it CDPR, I believe in you. (y)

[...] The point is that Square(in FF14s case) and Hello Games(No Man's Sky) released games that were either broken and/or lacked content that had been promised and hyped up, and they both did the right thing and fixed it. I fail to see how the genre of the game have anything to do with it. Single player games are constantly patched now, CDPR will release DLC and 2 expansions for this game, atleast that's what they have said.

I feel like this very much is a Final Fantasy XIV situation. With XIV fans of XI(the MMO) and Final Fantasy in general were pretty damned hyped, Square also had a pretty damn good reputation. So when that horrible launch happened they sat down, read through all the forum posts and realized that sure, they could just abandon the game and let it die off, but it would kill their reputation and all the goodwill they had fostered with the fans, kinda what CD Projekt have built up with their fans. Option 2 would be costly but would rebuild the trust and relationship with the fans, thanfully they went with option 2 and now the game is stronger than ever, one of the few MMOs still growing in player numbers.

I hope CD Projekt decides that their relationship to the fanbase and longterm profits are more important than the short term. If they just abandon Cyberpunk after having fixed the worst bugs and performances issues I probably won't buy their next game.

I feel your pain, I did a longer reply to another thread where I make my guess about this. It fits this thread perfectly too, so sorry for my lazyness and quoting myself.

"My conclusion about this launch and state of the product is following.

1. It was nowhere finished, and a lot of the features and other stuff was excluded. Simply because they never were finished. And maybe to have unison product to launch on every platform. Much had to be scrapped in order to have atleast somewhat cohesive and working product for launch. We all can see and appreciate how much work has been put into some areas of the game (aesthetics, visual, sound etc.). But how other areas like the NPC AI for example (among so many other things) seem to have had so little attention.

2. The timetable and production management didn't hold up and CDPR found them in impossible position. Where neither releasing or postponing the release further was even remotely great. Considering pros and cons between two terrible choices, they decided to release. Without knowing any facts, I speculate this was the better choice to be made commercially. Even though it was the most uncharacteristic thing to be expected of CDPR, going against their own philosophy like that. Atleast game was financially success and secures their future resources for production.

3. What that future is and if the gamble pays off, will be defined in near future. So much has to be addressed by CDPR to regain the shreds of public trust and good will. I think it's doable though. All that is needed, is unforeseen post launch dedication, willpower and resources put to use to actualise the original vision for the game or even going beyond it due time.
Maybe this whole fiasco was means to an end, and I hope, so that CDPR can again stay true to their values and the gaming community by finishing and building upon what Cyberpunk 2077 is now.

Honestly the concept is so great I can't imagine it abandoned. And if this isn't the project to set the record straight there won't be another one for regaining the lost reputation.

I can only hope CDPR makes a public statement sooner than later about their intentions for the game. So we can all start looking toward the future and stop wallowing in this bitterness and uncertainty !"

That's my preferred response in general lines, without going to specifics. Foremost I want to see the response reflect staying true to values CDPR has stood for. And unrelenting attitude and willpower to set the record straight and thrive to set that industry standard for triple AAA titles, they set out to do with Cyberpunk 2077.

As akward the situation may seem at the moment I can't see a better way for regaining all that lost rep. Only making this game so great that memes be by then forgotton, and the media coverage is about praising the uplift this game and the concept has had since initial release. Imo this means creating more solid foundation for singleplayer we have here today. Before planned multiplayer can go to production. This U-turn on PR and feedback would surely help, can't see many people get excited about any other upcoming stuff or staying with the company, if they don't nail this.

The bugs and crashes don’t worry me. They will get fixed in time and seems pretty common these days. AC Valhalla and watchdogs were the same on launch.

what concerns me is the huge amount of content and features that were promised and have since been removed or paired back. Standing in night city is like being in the Arctic tundra - it’s sparse out there man! No traffic, very few NPC’s - not the bustling metropolis we were told it would be.

I also can’t stomach excuses about last gen console performance. Ghost of Tsushima, Valhalla, RDR2 and TLOU2 are evidence of what last gen is still capable of. CP2077 in its current state is unacceptable.

I won’t be returning my copy. I want desperately for this game to work and be a success. The community have been waiting for so many years for this game. I have hope CDPR will try to put things right but whether they can realistically overhaul the game as dramatically as it needs is a point of concern.

for me - CDPR need to communicate more often and with greater transparency what their plan is. I’d like to see an explanation of what went wrong followed by a 6 month strategy of what improvements the community can expect, what content will be added, what functionality, etc. I think consumers deserve a little open transparency at last so they can make an informed decision on whether to stick by this project.
