Personally, I think I would like to see a expansion. I'm not sure if a sequel would be as strong with this game. If they put a lot of time and development in it, then hell yeah bring out a sequel.

Oh yeah, I think its wiser if they don't hurry in releasing a sequel, the new chapter may fail if not implemented beautifully. On a business point of view though I should release a new one to capitalize on the momemtum. However, since the game is already impressive taking time to study the new approach is better than disappointing the fanbase.

I think a new game will be better , maybe something less restricting (go anywhere you like thing) with better directions on quests so we can ignore the compass .Ah and another thing , when it says "easy" it should be somewhat easy , that beast in the cave Act I is way to tough for any low level character.

Sequel with GERALT. Because this first game only made me hunger for more and left a lot of open space to show and improve.Bigger world with more bigger locations to explore. each filled more or less (for variety) with regular and special mosnters titly connected to personal stories and histories of people living there.I want huge forests of the north, long rivers mountains and some sea or lake shore together with sunken cities to explore.More weather too. Not only rain but storms and fogs and mists. I want warewolves chasing me through the mists of some moors. Snow! Heat! Whatever you can come up with.More separate small stories that will be exploitable and non linear that would explain why some areas have monsters there. That will folow the general theme of the books in which the monsters are a direct consequence of the evil and pain humans and other cause. Like Echynops growing only in places where vicious murders were comited.More exploarion and use of Slavic old myths and legends and incorporation of various Slavic stories into the quests of the Witcher.I know atleast a few horror stories from my country (croatia) that would sit very well with Witcher. And every Slavic country has more of them.Make hard bad monsters rarer but more explained and parts of the stories that revolve in that area.Map traveling, please.... so i can click on some place in the local map and geralt will run there on his own so i dont have to guide him by hand all the time.Ability to revisit areas we have been to and have new things to do in them depending on some choices and quests.More intirgue and dirty politics and human-non human affairs. More new races while being fathfull to the books.More sex and seduction but, make it harder to achieve in appropriate places and with certain characters. Also make it so that Geralt can fail in the atempt and have girls become mad with him.So sometimes he has to do other things to win them over again and sometimesthe conquest just gets closed off.More excellent art all around!theres more...

Besides the normal wishes like more monsters, areas, weapons, formulas and such I would like to see the need to make a choice between the witcher schools. It would be very interesting to explore the other witcher school and in the end make a choice which one you will support.

Ok, what else....Alchemy... ingredients should not spawn so often and so become more valuable to the player and making of potions would be more important and harder to do- which would make very potion more valuable and Also i would like if taking samples and ingredients would get its own smaller window so that the whole inventory doesnt even open up but only that small window at the bottom of the screen.Much more immersive i think and less obtrusive.Loot and things for Geralt to collect! that one is pretty simple. Instead of one armor make every part of geralts wardrobe separate.Boots.Trousers.Gloves.Jacket.Gauntlets.I would also like to see that silver chain as a usefull weapon for some monsters and more use for knives and other weapons too. Not necesarily for combat puproses but for other work.Like skinning, preparing various stuff or traps or just as a tool to go through the thick forest (axes).

I prefer an expansion with Geralt protagonist for two reason1) I think it's too early for the witcher 2 - the return of Lord Helmet ( :) )2) there are a lot of question on the end of the witcher for example (Warning SPOILER)is the grandmaster really alvin? what do happen Vizima after the defeat of grandmaster? who is the assassin that try to kill king foltest? will The story between triss (or shani) go on? where are vesemir and the other witchers?

I don't really care whether it should be an expansion or a sequel, but there are three things I consider very necessary for a good gameplay - to my opinion:1) The protagonist MUST BE Geralt;2) There must be NO Yennefer (the game is very good without her, no need to spoil it - and we have Triss and Shani, who I think are better choices for Geralt than she is);3) Current possibilities with women(cards getting, etc) must not be removed. All other things I think would be good as they are, except maybe auto sword-sheathing :)

After finishing the game, what I want to see in an expansion would be to see a continuation of the romance threads since it seems like these were dropped in the rush to release the game. They feel unfinished since there is no mention of your choices when the game ends. For an expansion it SHOULD be Geralt, but for a sequel, it could be done differently.A true sequel could involve having multiple main characters in the main story, with the option to play any of them. This would increase replay value because even if the events are the same, if you have the same level of choices with their long term effects as we saw in The Witcher, not only would people want to play the game 5+ times to try the different paths, but you would see people playing 5+ times for each of the characters you control. One of the new characters could be a new witcher(hell, male or female if experimentation by a group allowed for a female witcher), and this would allow people to play and develop a character THEY want to play. With multiple characters playing in the same world event, it should be possible and not TOO hard to make this idea work. The other main players when you talk to them will respond based on how you play that character. So if you play as Geralt, Shani may act one way and respond to how you do the dialog, but if you play as Shani, you get to play how she would respond to Geralt(which could change dialog through the rest of the game). I would like to see even more of a challenge from what you fight in the game, either a yet higher difficulty setting, or more powerful enemies. An expansion could add the higher difficulty level, which would encourage people to play through the existing game on the higher difficulty setting. Talking about difficulty, playing dice SHOULD be a little harder than it is currently because the AI is pretty horrible. I have rolled and ended up with a worse "hand" than the other person, yet they roll all five dice and lose? That's pretty bad. Having other sets of dice available(I never found more than the initial sets of dice through the entire game) would add to it, or to have other dice "boards", just to add some variety. And finally, for an expansion I want to see for sure what happened to Alvin. A sequel may or may not involve him, but for an expansion, I want the loose ends tied up.

I would not like to see many other playable characters with as great roles as Geralt one is. Maybe have a couple of those, shorter as a reward for unlocking specific story paths. So if geralt does one thing it will open up a small sidequest in which we play as somebody else for a short time and if he does another thing we dont get that at all or we get to play with somebody else.Thats the maximum of that feature i would like to see. Also im against too much romance between Geral,t Shani or Triss. i simply dont think that geralt is that kind of type or that his life as it is will let him become deeply involved. He needs to stay a tragic character and mostly a loner.Repleyability should be increased by different quests and separate paths through the story based on geralt actions and choices. Unlike in this first game some choices should lead to specific different maps and quests that would not be atainable if other choices are made along the way. Also i dont think that its really necesary for geralt to start over as a complete noob again.Having him get amnesia again would be too much, too unbeilivable and having him loose his skills because of the family life somewhere would be too forced and out of character, especialy because the story in this game didnt go there.Instead i think he should start with most of his sword skills and all signs and advance from there. As it would be expected of someone who is a full Witcher. Then introduce maybe even more signs to learn and new combos with weapons that produce more different results in a fight.Include defence moves for Geralt and monsters. That would bring some variety to combat and make it more tactical. Also have monsters perform specific special atacks together with defense moves which would be specific for every kind of monster.Fleders and bruxae could turn into mist for a while, for example, but then they would be more vulnerable to Igni sign... They could also climb walls (like Gary Oldman in Dracula) and atack from high up by performing jump atacks with great chance of the knockdown.Would be very nice too see some Vampires tunr into small clods of bats too.Zombies, Undead, Ghouls and those types of creatures could have a kind of regeneration of their rotten meat.... I think every monster type can be enhanced this way and made more interesting to fight.

I've just finished The Witcher sometime ago and it was truly epic. Definitely one of my top RPG list. The ending of the game is clearly saying that there will be a sequel. Any news yet? Would it be an expansion pack or a full game? When is it planned to release? Sorry if my questions are too advanced. It's just that i was too excited about the game that i want a sequel right away.

They need to fix the first one before moving on to a second, I love the game but even after 1.2 there is still a lot of work to be done.

Sequels are rarely announced within the first year after the title release. No sense hyping up a game thats nowhere near release, the features aren't finalized....hell they're probably not out of preproduction yet.Plus, it'd just take attention away from the first game if you announced the sequel too soon.

Sheesh... Don't look now peeps, but I think we have a troll in our midst. ...sic a witcher on 'im. /off-topicAs for the game, it definitelly left me aching for more but I have to agree that -for various reasons- the sequel is hardly likely going to happen any time soon. Still, the toolset wil be coming out soon (or so I hope) and that should, at least, keep us all sated until the next official release.

I don't doubt the sequel is going to happen, they just aren't going to talk about it for a long time. :)If you start talking about a game years before its release, then you didn't have the time or ability to implement something you kinda promised...you get Fable That's exactly why most game devs typically keep their mouth shut until the last year, possibly two if you count E3 marketing stuff.Of course then there's Duke Nukem Forever, the laughingstock of the gamer nation. ;D

The topic creator asked for opinions no? So why is it that negative opinions ar ethen seen as trolling?Personally I love the story of this game. Love the game style. I love how I can play it constantly. I don't love the lack of qualility and bug testing that took place before hand, and I do not love the lack of testing before releasing patchs. If a patch, which generally is meant to fix things, makes things worse. Shouldn't you try and fix this problem ASAP and not make customers who forked out up to $120 in some countries for there copy, wait almost 2 weeks for the fix.In saying that. If they do make a sequal, I hope the lessons are learnt from this game and they take a little longer to pan out all the major bugs, like crashes, before releasing it to the general public.
