What's going on with the stocks

+
There was rumors couple of days now that (some leaks or rumors I'm not allowed to post here, said moderator), CDPR is on hiring spree, that they did make steps to address the police system, that announced the new road-map for the future of the company, that they recently acquired Digital Scapes.

The market was going up from 210 (pln) all the way to 250 before going down and I see today it just sunk to 190 range, like what's going on?

Is there some big company trying to manipulate the market by buying a ton of shares, then selling them in preparation of next coming day's storm of positive news, in hopes to sunk the price lower, so they could gain 5-10% benefit from buying cheaper share from panicked holders?

Like is having police chases this important that it effects the stock price this radically? I really don't get this. I get that there's been some hiccups with the patch, for example the lighting seems to be off on some occasions in Nvidia GPU's and I tried the Nomad opening I noticed the crotch of the cowboy guy was having weird air reflection going on constantly, but nothing major. The FPS seems to be more stable 30 in base consoles and even on combat it now manages to stay above 20 fps in most scenarios where even in 1.12 it was below 10. Pro-models seem to be now at constant stable 30 fps.

Like is this all because of the gossip like "See, they shouldn't never have released the game in such state when there's such large list of issues?", 99% of what I've read are some minor details like changing prices or items, changing a bit of texts or some very tiny glitches in some quests.

The stock was already going up to 360 before the hacking happened, and yes it has taken them couple of weeks to a month to recover and continue work, and yes it's bad for their image and some people assumed they lost all opportunities to make profit anymore and panic sold out, but the panic should have stabilized now with the recent update clearly showing their capability of making changes and addressing issues.

All I'm hearing is positive news and downward shift happens, like... is there something I'm not aware of?

I wanted to write longer reply but honestly, its better to check some economic news to find out why markets reacted this way. But its more about long time strategy (which for some inverstors is blurried) than if CP2077 will have police system or not (which for some gamers is a matter of life and death but has no significant impact when it comes to stock).

Well I listened through their strategy update and I'm not investor guru and I was able to make up the key points quite easily.

- Maintain focus on single player campaigns
- Creating the RED2.0 engine that allows enhanced capabilities for things like NPC behavior and work on online features when the they are developed far enough then work on implementing them when they are fit
- Build up the franchise recognition with partnerships, mobile apps, TV (we already are aware of the Cyberpunk series being worked on by Studio Trigger for example)

I don't see anything really confusing about it.

Also for future of Cyberpunk as shown in their presentation for Witcher, brands like GTA took years to develop it's franchise and first 3 games sold less than GTA 4 sold in first year, and it's pretty clear that whatever becomes after it's going to attract more people to play their games, granted they need to get the Cyberpunk 2077 on the par on what is shown from their early intros, having AV's dropping units, working trains, "everyone having flying cars" according to Ciri, so maybe she was visiting that Casino/Bar from what we've seen in the art, where a ton of wealthy people were driving into this mansion of activities.

I didn't see anything grim or dire in their presentation and Pokemon Go was a vast large success that brought people into the Pokemon franchise who normally wouldn't even touch it, same could happen with the Witcher monster slayer mobile app. And from what I've seen in the gameplay it actually looks way more fun than just throwing pokeballs at Geodude and having 20 of them in your inventory so you can fuse them into 1 with more levels (apparently that's how it works now).

Unless you are investing in the short term or day trading, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to follow daily movements. And if you do, you can't infer long term trends from short term data. Especially around investor calls or major announcements because that will distort your perception of what is happening.

Answering your questions to the best of my (limited) knowledge.

1. 210 > 250 > 190 in short order: high volatility is one well known in science sign of imminent (approaching, near) collapse of a system. Stable systems are not volatile. Other than that, almost everyone's opinion would be some sort of speculation, i think.

2. Market manipulation is near certainty; question is, do we have the usual (non-critical) amount of it, or is it something existential for the company. Right now, with 1.2 out, and considering scale of the title (CP2077) and world coverage of its story, so-called "scalpel" traders are certainly putting extra attention to CDPR stock. The effect is at least substantial, i believe. If those are the sole force responsible, however, then volatility would gradually decrease to pre-1.2 levels - perhaps in a week or so. Problem is, we can't be sure it's just scalpel traders who specualte on this stock at this time. In worst case, it could be some big investors cashing out, based on some known and/or unknown (to the public) developments.

3. Police chases and other relatively small adjustments and fixes, which most of patch 1.2 is about - are certainly not the primary, nor even significant, reason. Instead, it's certain other things. For example, other a month ago, i've proposed to CDPR in one of my (massively liked by others) comments that CDPR puts more priority on polishing patches, ensuring new patches don't come with new bugs. Sadly, as reported in this forum and in many other places alike, 1.2 did not manage to achieve complete lack of product-breaking bugs. There is a number of issues which for some users makes the product completely broken by sole act of updating to 1.2. This matter and likely other kinds of similarly (or even more) important issues - is probably playing a role, instead of 1.2 specific fixes' nature.

4. There always is whole lot you, me and all other regular users are not aware of. So much so that most of the time our very ideas and thoughts about "how" the game is created, debugged and updated - are ultimately wrong. It is indeed no surprise, nor any fault on our part, too: we did not spend years to educate ourselves to become game developers / produces / what have you. And certainly there is commercial and know-how secrets which every company - CDPR no exception - have the right, the need and the privilege to have and maintain. Please, respect this.
