But why would you disagree with a direct quote from the 1.2 development update thread?
I have no horse in the race, I was just pointing out a detail many seem to be overlooking.

There are still three full workdays of March left, too. Plenty of time for the full patchnotes and the update itself.
Should have expressed myself in a better way. What i meant is I disagree to follow the exact guidelines of what they've said, as from latest experience it doesn't match the reality.

I agree with your message so the following is not directed to you personally, just my take on the whole 'deliver as you said by end of March or else...'
Delaying the patch further won't mean they 'didn't keep their word', it'll just mean that the deadline they set for themselves was not realistic. It happens all the time (in general, not with CDPR) since - to my knowledge - no one can accurately predict the future, and it's not something I would personally feel 'outraged' about. Anyone who's set a deadline for themselves can tell how easy it is to not keep up with that, without necessarily meaning that you're not doing a good job. The only thing outrage does when it comes to meeting 'timescales' (as if they're the gospel) is substandard, rushed delivery or hardcore crunching and I don't know why we'd want any of that. I hope they work on this on a reasonable pace to deliver 'when it's ready' (as they used to say), I'm not interested in another update that breaks as many things as it fixes.
Yeah, anything tech related. Rule of thumb. Always overshoot so you make the deadline. If you think it's gonna take a week, set the deadline for 2 weeks. You always give yourself a buffer, there's no telling what will happen.

something that starts to bother me as a customer of a product from this company, is that they generate expectations and frustration in equal parts .... I thought we would have news of the patch today. They have not made any modifications to Steam today and verbatim words from their twitter account:

and we still have work to do to make sure that’s what you get. With that in mind, we're now aiming for release in the second half of March.

It’s not the news we enjoy sharing, but we want to make sure we launch this update properly. Stay tuned for more information as the time draws closer. Thank you for your continued patience and support.

If you talk about honest communication with the community, what is this? Here we are talking about the fact that March is not over ... but there are 4 days left in March !!! no notes, no patch and honest communication with dropper !!!!

Give me another preview of the patch but don't hide in the cave again !!!! If you are aiming for the second half of March and need a few more weeks, show at least another preview of the patch information while we are still waiting ...
I think they followed the Core Rulebook to the letter...

OK, just for comparison: another great open world action game, Horizon Zero Dawn, was released on PC broken. I literally couldn't play it because it would kick me out during loading of a New Game. It took them months to correct the game and the patches for it were like 16MB. *Megabytes*, with an M. What I really liked about Guerrilla studio was, they were communicating about what improvements they are working on right now. And with each patch they would tell us what issues they are aware of and still need time to figure out. I'd like to see something like that here. I'd like to know what CD Projekt is having issues with, what things are planned to be addressed in this patch and what issues will be addressed in the next one.
In other words: more clarity.

Just take a look what they did with last update mate, they knew that they were locked out of their machines due to ransomware etc. since the start of February, yet they gave an update on the patch by the end of the month. Youll have to look at this with a bigger scope, CDPR have Poland consumer goverment branch on their ass which will fine them 10% of last year revenue if they fail to deliver. Its all a game of prolonging and using situation to their benefit.

Seriously? I wish we had one of those here in the States. I can think of a bunch of companies that would take a beating from it, starting probably with EA.

Dunno if EA is public owned company. CDPR went public somewhere around '16 while also taking a goverment funding (cca 7mil i think). Multiple things that came back biting them up the ass..

So does the UOKiK statement mean that in order to avoid the fine they have to just make the game run smoothly or make the game perform as advertised?

"We ask the entrepreneur to explain the problems with the game and the actions taken by him. We will check how the manufacturer is working on introducing corrections or solving difficulties that prevent the game from being played on different consoles, but also how it intends to act in relation to people who have complained and are dissatisfied with the purchase due to the inability to play the game on their equipment despite the manufacturer's previous assurances."

The former, everything advertised was under "Work in progress" or ideas of what they could implement, the notorious 48min demo from '18 was a vertical slice which to a normal person would look as something that will be included ingame but in reality its more of a concept and ideas for investors to throw more money into a pool, baiting in laymans terms. thus they are probably protected in that regard ;) ie. loads of read between the lines, birocracy etc. protecting them about that.

Oh OK, wasn't sure if they were suggesting it was somehow tied to the original 2016 R&D grants.

Sounds to me like CDPR need some coaching on setting realistic goals and timelines if this patch slips past March.

There is an ongoing history with this game of making statements that sound like commitments, and then later players are told "we never committed to that, you didn't read closely enough!" You can only go back to that well so many times before the community stops listening altogether.

Seriously, stop making statements with timeframes in them if you can't meet them. It erodes credibility. It's far better to just say "when it's ready" and stick to that.

Y'know, you're right, they wouldn't break their word. That's on me for not expressing myself correctly.

They never said they would release the patch in March. Only that they were aiming for a March release and while I agree with the general spirit of your message, I have to say, at some point they have to stop eroding their consumer base's trust in their ability to fix this game.

At this point the patch is either coming on March 31st or it's getting delayed to later in April. I'm just hoping that if they delay to April they're not going to wait until the very last minute to tell us. The sooner the better.

so, i bought this game through steam, and after all the updates steam seems to have installed automatically the game is finally running on my pc, but i'm not sure it installed ALL the updates because i'm not seeing the option to turn off double-tap to dodge in the controls settings menu. anywhere. and it's literally the worst game decision ever made. i could see double tilt with a joystick being practical, but on WASD? ew. good lord what were y'all thinking. other than that, great game, would love any tips on why the option isn't showing up in my settings or how i can check which updates steam actually installed or not.
It is indeed terrible and obviously untested decision, especially for PC players.
Gladly you can fix it (as well as make dedicated dodge) by yourself with config files tweaking without waiting uncertain amount of time.
