What's up with the mod community?

No one forces you to use mods you don't like. it's rather disrespectful to make comments like that, too; modders are people just like everyone else, and they share their work for free. Don't like a mod, don't use the mod -- but also don't dismiss it as "boring" or whatever.

I'm no modder, or mod user in this game's case, but the above is basic common decency.

The game has been out for 4 months, the dev console was removed early on., which meant a modder had to add one back in just to get mods working again.

I currently have a mod that increases the size of the mini map, one that allows me to add in NPC's anywhere and swap outfits, it also allows me to change the paint job on all my cars. I have a mod that allows me to sell the otherwise useless "unlocked" cars you find.

I have a mod that changes the map and UI, another that allows me to change any item in a "save" which I mostly use for giving "V" a different hairstyle which is missing form the base game.

There are may other useful mods, but as has been mentioned skin and texture mods are easy to do so will abound till there is a serious mod tool released by Projekt Red.

Where's the interesting mods like Fallout 4 had?
What constitutes "Interesting" according to you.
For me
I really wanted a new skin for the CT-3X because I dont like the red one with cow letters on it.
And my V is fixed to actually have a good rack ;)

Interesting enough for me

Lack of proper creation kit is not the only reason. Valheim doesn't have one either. But it uses a well known engine with available source code (unity), making mods creation easier. CDPR engine is a black box.

there are several interesting mods i absolutely love
keep in mind that cp modding involves a lot of hex editing right now
and thats a major pain in the ass

If they're worried about getting their feelings hurt I'd suggest they don't put up their work to begin with. I'm a 3-D Artist. I only got better by allowing my peers to criticize my work. When you have a job and your best isn't good enough, guess what. No one cares. You get let go.

I didn't realize CDPR pulled the moding tools though. That makes a lot of sense. Why did they do that?

I have also enjoyed creating my own mods for other games and want to do so for this game. But, the tools available right now are limited, so my 'Thanks' go out to those who have a better understanding of this then I do. I think the mods that are out there now are very well done and I do have some mods installed. As it stands now, it might be a while before we see the tools that are needed.

I have made mods starting in the 1980s. Back then it was mostly Hex editing, file replacements and configuration tweaking (at least for me it was). Doom was the first game I actually made maps and new special effects. Well really it was just effects already in the engine but that the DEV did not know at the time it was possible to do with their code. So I would say we were more like explorers that discover effects (game mechanics and visual effects) back then.

I never use "sex mods" myself. I have nothing against them I just have too many other things I want to do in the game that I cannot do in real life such as flying or being a giant etcetera.

However you should realize the that guys that make these "sex" mods are often the cutting edge of new technology. Most of the Animations breakthroughs in Skyrim for example was from those kind of mod makers.

This is some interesting reading on how sex drove the invention and development of TEC that I would bet you yourself enjoy: https://www.americanheritage.com/when-sex-drives-technological-innovation

When you have a job
Modding is not a job, it's something people do because they want to. A key difference. Going around trashing people's work is always less than polite, anyway.

Besides, expecting large-scale mods for a game less than 4 months old is bound to end in disappointment, especially when people are saying there aren't even proper mod tools available.

Not to mention you're not entitled to any mods in the first place. No one is.

As I'm to understand it, the Wolvenkit is an unofficial modkit, in development off of the back of the official Witcher 2 modkit, which has just entered beta for it's Cyberpunk version. So more in depth mods may begin to appear in the next few months. Until that gets a proper public release people are limited in what they can do.

most prob because they cant fix their own stuff yet - so they dont wanna let others take hand on the code as well... just a guess. (didnt meant they shouldnt, maybe that would gave them a deeper inside how to clean up the current mess somehow... but well we dont know.)

A good number of people are busy working on Wolven kit at the moment. Until it's ready, or CDPR decides to release an actual game editor, complex mods are impossible. The most advanced things we can do at the moment is model swapping, texture swapping, and some hex editing. Honesty though some good mods have come out like Arasaka Cyberarms and Caliburn's War.

All I ever see 90% of the time is more porno mods and useless skin changes. Where's the interesting mods like Fallout 4 had?

Still, there's a bunch of amazing and useful mods. You just need to spend some time looking for them.

Here's my mod list:

Cyber Engine Tweaks: Required mod for almost every mod plugin scripted mod.

Redscript: Script compiler.

No Camera Auto Centering: Self explanatory.

Crouch Vignette Effect Remover: Self explanatory.

Enhanced Police: Make police spawn further away (this was implemented way before the 1.2 update) and also makes police forces arrive on cars and even chase you in motorcycles.

Realistic Combat Overhaul: Changes combat completely making enemies more dangerous as they do way more damage and you inflict more damage as well. Headshots are one shot kills most of the time. No more bullet sponges. This only works on the highest difficulty.

Instant Disassembling and Crafting: Self explanatory. Works with everything. Better than what the official fixes implemented recently.

Unlock Night City: Most of closed doors are now open and explorable.

Toggle Walk Key: Self explanatory.

E3 2018 Lightning Mod: Self explanatory.

Better minimap: Decrease the minimap zoom when driving.

Custom UI Colors: Changes UI to the desired color.

I've made mods for Fallout 4, I've done some reskins for World of Tanks and I'm making entire campaigns and custom factions and reskins for Starcraft and Starcraft II for over 15 years now on and off, all that without knowing jackshit about ICT stuff, not my area of work. I've learned how to use Blender with the specific setup I require. I use free access tools and programs and all of that while having a working week of 40+ hours.

I like to do it, I even 'work' myself into periods of stress because I often feel I do not have the time needed to devote to it (currently the case also again)
Its like an addiction to some extend.

Having people complain anout the goodwil of modders is a NoNo!!
And even less and job!

But perhaps some people are correct, and modders SHOULD get paid... Lets draw a line to see where this goes... Modders get paid for making a mod... Then a user also gets to pay for using said mod, because company blablabla... Then people complain about having to pay for a mod... Then people do not get mods because they cost money... Then people start whining about why there are no good mods... And then the circle is complete.

My message, be VERY careful to insult modders, most of them do it as a 'hobby'
