When to expect first reviews

Did not know where to post this question. I mean this does not regard the game or launch, nor the news or artworks ... so I just made a new thread. If Kinley or other mods don't "like" it this way, we maybe just can change it into a collection-of-reviews-thread or something when the first reviews are gonna be available.

But now on topic: Anybody any clue when to expect first reviews ? Maybe somebody does know something, e.g. IGN or any other media being the first ones allowed to review W3 ? Maybe Damien or some other REDs mentioned something ... ?

Embargo is down one week before the game launches - therefore I guess that first reviews will appear on May 12th.

Good of the devs to drop the embargo 1 week before releasing the game. Quite unusual these days.

I just hope that TB get's a review copy and does a port report before game is released. Other big gaming review sites don't even mention performance...

With that 84 User Rating mostly coming from a hell lot of 0 Ratings because of the HORRIBLE Foliage and Grass and DOWNGRADE and all

Is 12 days enough to make proper review on such a big game? A bit suprised.

Indeed, that's what I expect at least, a lot of whiners (quite common on metacritic) and a few who expect something different from the game, hence they will be slightly disappointed (6s and 7s) - combat is not as good as Dark Souls, bosses are not as good as Dragon's Dogma, pre-defined character, etc.; mainly people new to the series caught up in the hype.

That's what I was thinking about as well. If you count 2 weeks, that's still 5 hours of playing per day (50 hrs of main, 20 hrs of side quests), and that's without writing the actual review. I know this is their full-time job, but still seems questionable to me.

Don't forget "Garbage..................." (dots to fill the review limit) reviews ;) I seriously hate Metacritic's user review system. They either give scores that are too high, or absolute freaking zero. No understanding of what a "review" should be. I mean, as much as I hate Call of Duty for example, I can't give it a "zero". So yeah, I don't care about Metacritic user reviews (is there anyone who cares?). Metascore itself is good though, I usually take a glance at that. And I'm seriously guessing higher than 91%, with all the hype of the websites and all; and the amount of praise coming from them. Maybe around 94%?

Aaaanyway, it doesn't matter to me :) But it would be good to see CDPR getting the appreciation that they deserve. And it's mighty encouraging that they lift the embargo a week before game's release.

No idea about the users, but I'll make a more hopeful guess about the press - 94%.

This nonsense is fun to burn time with for fans, but I believe companies really want to score those high numbers. I think about Uni tests - scoring a 95 doesn't necessarily mean you're smarter than someone who scored 85, but it feels damn good anyway, no matter how much you try to rationalize and be mature about it. CDPR seems to have put a ton of effort and to have taken challenges in an overall scale very few games (none?) aspire to, so I hope it pays off with the product, but recognition too.

But the more you take on the easier it becomes to drop the ball in some areas, so who knows if the quality that the previews seem so impressed with can hold for dozens of hours.

Just based on all the impressions I've read, it definitely feels like this game has the potential to really resonate with the general press. So I think low-mid 90s seems like a good bet.

Makes sense, they (CDPR) always try to improve upon their last game and the metascores seem to reflect that: TW1: EE - 86%, TW2 - 88%, TW3 - ?
Must be a 90% at worst, they seem to be really confident.
They're also the proud owners of the "Least Likely To Be Absolute Arse" award - if anyone else remembers.

I would honestly be surprised if this scores lower than 90% on Metacritic. The previews have been overwhelmingly positive, even more than what TW2 got. My concern though, and it's been mentioned, is that reviewers won't get enough time with the game given how much content there is.

Most likely reviewers will focus on beating the game first before focusing on the selection of side-quests, which will be sufficient for them to give a personal rating.

12 days to review... Not so bad actually. If they go overboard and focus on the game that is. I mean, with around 8 hours a day they can have a playtime around 100 hours. It's safe to assume that they won't do all the side-quests, so that should give them enough time for main quest-line, reasonable amount of side-quests and some side-content. If they spend more than 8 hours, they can do even more.
