I always roll my eyes when they said that. I'm not sure about you guys, but for me crafting is broken AF.

I would not say it is completely broken, but it does have issues.

Green quick hacks requiring Purple parts?
Upgrading costing more than making a new higher level one?
RNG add-on quality?
Missing crafting specs?
Vanishing crafting choices?
No stack crafting?
Tedious "hold for 3 seconds" mechanic every single item.

Ok...wait. I apologize, it is completely broken.

IMO crafting is useless in the sence its is alien to the game in logic lore and execution

I've mostly used crafting to make more ammo and to upgrade. Otherwise I don't really see the point in trying to craft weapons as the game is littered with them.

But I have noticed that if you do upgrade weapons and clothes they do eventually get mod slots.

There's no motivation to craft your own clothes otherwise. If you could actually pick clothes and weapons you wanted and had a clear path to upgrading them like COD maybe then it'd make more sense.

You can max out Iconic weapons... Armadillo, and craft Legendary armor. Plus its under Tech, so you can use Engineering perks at the same time. The most legit way to get filthy rich, but now since we have exploit dupe it seems worthless. To me if you wanted to have all high end gears, crafting is the only way.

I would say that crafting is unrefined, not broken.

For example, there is no level indicator giving me an idea how many times I will be able to upgrade the item, or given the amount of components required, you would think that you should be able to mass produce higher quality components, even with a macro, in some cases, I have to leave it running for an hour or more just to produce components required to upgrade just one item.

Also the perk that's supposed to allow you to combine lower level crafting material in higher level ones doesn't work.

It does feel like the crafting system was implemented like a week before release, thats how unfinished it looks to me at least. The first time i skilled up my Tech tree and reached 20, i was like.. well.. what do i really gain now from the crafting tree? theres nothing special about it.

It does, but like I said, you need to macro it and it takes hours to do because you can't do it in bulk.

Crafting should just be its own thing. Different materials needed for different parts, quickhacks, and weapons
I would go as far as removing the grade of components/quick hack parts and replace it with item related parts. Example gun springs, computer boards, types of metal, chemicals, black powder, and sewing materials for clothing.

I think the skillsystem is not balanced. With 39 I had 20 Tech and 16 Int, and a few in Reflex. Thank god Tech gives extra-armor, bc HP is cute, not more.
And why one have to put skillpoints in crafting anyway? If you want to go melee, you've little chance to put many points in Tech. Maybe I should have looked after builds, but hey, I beat the endings anyway.

It’s a very rudimentary system that feels like you’re not actually even ”crafting” anything, but simply buying items and upgrades from an invisible vendor with a combination of different currencies.
If it was a fantasygame, you could change the components to pewter, copper, bronze, silver, and gold coins, or something.

So yeah, it’s pretty bad.

:oops:WHAT?!
Damn. Lucky that V made it. Skilled player I am :D
Ok, broken it is.

Edit-Offtopic:
My first V (I had to start new, bc I forgot to put his underwear...beside) I wanted to go stealth. Did they really think, that somebody will throw "real" knives for 200-300 bucks each at enemies without a chance to pick them up again? I thought you can buy some 6er-packs by the vendor. Stealth over.
Or maybe I've should looked for builds. But --- they got homework to do.

in hindsight the gamespot reviewer war right, not only it is broken but there is no reason to use it whatsoever unless you finish the game and then there's that if you want to progress further with the save.

I don't think crafting is useless, though I do think investing in tech is useless. Only because your character becomes so OP even without legendary gear. I'm level 36 and because I invested so much in handguns, regular uncommon handguns still kill in 1 shot on very hard.
