Where did Shani go?

Considering that you had the option in TW1 to decide to go with Shani and live somewhere quiet for the rest of your life, I kind of missed an explenation for her not beeing in TW2. Maybe you could make a DLC concerning her disapperance?

Anyway other than that it was a wonderful game!

She was going with Geralt and Foltest, and Foltest was like, "I bet you 300 orens that you can't eat Shani alive." Needless to say, Geralt made a couple orens by winning that bet.

And that's why you start the game with a little money when you import your save.

I didn't like at all what happened with Shani, coz when I imported my save from TW1 with Shani romance , then in TW2 I was fucking Triss in the beginning of the game... At least this scene should have not been in the game if you were with Shani in romance in the first game.

As much as I love strong female characters, Shani didn`t have much room in this story (the game), besides waiting for Geralt to heal his wounds...

A nurse or doctor would be awkward dealing with high politics and conspiracies... So in that regard alone Triss is a better companion, because she even has her own agenda and as a resourceful sorceress can well take care of herself in this dangerous world. Better than Shani, at least. :p

Always liked Triss better than Shani so I don't think there is a big loss at all.

I know some people dont like Shani at feels like she doesnt fit in Geralts life. However she was put in the first game, and should have been mentioned in the second. At least give us a choice not to wake up in bed with Triss if anything.

I miss Shani too, but I don't think the game needs both Shani and Ves. And there is no way I would want to reduce Ves's role.

For those curious about Shani's fate here's what canonically happens to her. Based on "Pani Jeziora" (The Lady of the Lake"), the last installment of the Witcher saga by Andrzej Sapkowski.
If you prefer to wait till all the books get translated don't read it!

Shani reached the venerable age of about 90. She became a famous and revered dean at the Medicine Department of the Oxenfurt University. I can translate the whole passage telling about it if there is enough demand for it :)

ya, but this is a CDP slip, by giving us the option to romance her in TW1 and _inexplicably_ making her not appear in TW2. My Geralt thought he loved her and such... c'mon, given that one can import the TW1 save the game can see and if I chose her put a slide saying she had to... go somewhere or whatever...

I know that Triss is the canon lover but the game betrayed gamers choices :D

I believe Shani is mentioned or at least referred to by Adam Pangratt in chapter 2 if you side with Roche. It's not much, but still...

I understand that CDPR wanted TW2 to focus on Triss, but in my opinion, the transition between Shani and Triss was handled very badly.

At the beginning of TW2, you wake up in bed with Triss, and she gives you the results of an autopsy on the mysterious assassin that you killed at the end of TW1.

It would have been just as easy to wake up in bed with Shani and have her give you the autopsy report. It would make sense for her to be in Foltest's camp, because what king wouldn't want a trained physician with him when he's about to go to war?

Then Geralt is summoned to see Foltest, kisses Shani good-bye, and the game proceeds as usual from there on. It would not have taken very long to implement, but it would have been a much better transition for those players who chose Shani in TW1.

When I first played The Witcher I also went the "Shani"-way. I thought her to be the more trustworthy woman, the gentler one, the caring one...plus I didn't know the books back then (which I do now), so I had no idea about Geralt and Triss.

Anyway, having chosen Triss on my second (complete) playthrough over the last two weeks I got to know Shanis true character. And oh my...this girl is mean. She's ignorant, she's pure poison! ^^

Triss Merigold may still have her secrets which she keeps from Geralt, yes. But she's the better woman, I'm sure now. :D

I like that a lot. I'm going to pretend that's what happened now :p

Eh, I don't think she is. Shani is very, very shrill--a performance issue, perhaps, more than a character trait. Still, she comes across as meaner and pettier to me even though she softens near the end of the final act. Triss is your ally no matter what. Shani kicks you out. To be fair, she's in her early twenties. Triss is much, much older and has less excuse.

I certainly agree that the transition from a Shani romance in TW1 to the beginning of TW2 is too abrupt. I like Corylea's suggestion. Or maybe there could have been a cutscene where Shani suddenly gets an offer for advanced study or a professorship in Oxenfurt (home of her medical school). That would have been the perfect little send-off for her.

I think Triss is actually MORE bitchy than Shani when she's not picked. That "Speak, then get out of my sight" thing really bothers me.

If you pick Triss, Shani warms up a bit in Chapter 5, when you meet her in the hospital. Triss WORKS with you if you don't pick her, but she never warms up again.

All of this is one reason why I think The Witcher is such a brilliant game. Some people love the Order, others the Scoia'tael. Some people love Triss, others Shani. Most things are ambiguous enough that you can see what you want to in them, so people put their wants and dreams and values into this game.
