Better to have two copies than one. I advise you to pick up retail edition - with lots of goodies in the box.
We know, but I am a firm believer everyone should follow common sense more than fleeting emotions, especially when money comes into equation. Buying off GOG will net him lower gains, while CDPRed will lose very little if he buys the game from another vendor (and retail version is really worth it, IMO).gregski said:The question was where do they get most money from, not where he could buy it on best terms.
But I am sure he will appreciate your additional valuable insights.
This makes absolutely no sense to me. GOG doesn't have a limit on the number of times you can re-download their games--that means that you already have infinite backups. In addition, all of the money you spend goes straight to the developer when you buy from GOG, whereas if you buy it retail, not only does LESS money go to CDP, but you actually incur GREATER costs on them by using GOG's bandwidth to download your backup.Mrowakus said:DO NOT BUY IT FROM GOG!!! This makes absolutely every sense because you gain two things instead of one. Say your DVD gets scratched - you can download the game from GOG. Conversely, say GOG flops, or their servers go off-line for some reason, or you currently don't have the bandwidth to download 15GB game - then you just insert your DVD and are happy with it. Two options are better than one.darkeningday said:This makes absolutely no sense to me. The only conceivable reason you'd want to purchase a physical copy is if you're a collector, or just really value material goods.
And don't buy from Steam. Gabe Newell doesn't need to gain any more weight.
Beat me to the punch! Great post.GuyN said:Since you can archive the GOG edition on a few DVDs or a USB stick or a portable drive, I'm not sure why you'd be concerned about being dependent on GOG.
Still, you are right; if you want the physical goods, you need to buy the physical copy, and you can always get the GOG edition for no extra cost.
Let's just say the following scenario happened to me:GuyN said:Since you can archive the GOG edition on a few DVDs or a USB stick or a portable drive, I'm not sure why you'd be concerned about being dependent on GOG.

7. When I opened the window to have a smoke, a raven flew in, landed on my mid-size tower and defecated on the fan screen. My computer soon began to hiss and whirr as a wayward drop of bird-poo had landed on my motherboard.
8. This caused a spark to fling out of my desktop, landing on a small, dry clump of grass I'd accidentally tracked into the house after my afternoon jog.
9. The spark set fire to the dry grass, and the gasoline can I left adjacent to the dry grass (the jog was to get gas) soon exploded.
10. Thankfully, my neighbor was a volunteer fire fighter, and he managed to put out the flames before they spread across the house!
11. Sadly, however, my computer smelled of raven-droppings, so I threw it out and bought a 360, and I'm currently enjoying the more naturalistic lighting on the XBOX version of TW2.
Is that true?!darkeningday said:I think you left out a few bullet points, Mrowakus!
