Which main quest unlocks Kaer Morhen location?

No need for spoilers, just quest name please for how/what main quest unlocks Kaer Morhen location, since the new wolf armor DLC is out.

Read all the issues re: it being in such weird location for lower level starting armor and going to advance my main story just enough to unlock the Kaer Morhen location but not sure which main story quest that is.

Definitely not worth it in my opinion to rush through the great story just for that armor set , but if you insist, you have to follow the mainquests through Skellige, Velen, Novigrad ect. they will eventually lead to Kher Morhen.

I don't recall the exact names, but they are impossible to miss - since they are the only mainquests you got. At a certain point they will kind of become one - and lead you to Kher Morhen.

Yup, you have to go through White Orchard, Velen, Novigrad and Skellige... so, basically 2/3 of the game... and you still will be lvl 18-20 even if rushing it. Not really worth it.

The quest is called "Ugly Baby" but you won't be able to advance to it to quickly. The new gear requires lvl 34 anyway.

Nope, it's lv 14, at least the base one.

I suggest not rushing it, also because the diagrams ate defended by some high level wraiths...

Level 23 Wraiths to be exact. The placing of a level 14 diagram in Kaer Morhen was not thought through at all.

That's right, basic wolf school gear is lvl 14, and if I recall right, there are "nasty" lvl 23 Wraths guarding most of the diagrams. Depending on the difficulty level you play at, these guys can really spit in your soup :D.

Edit:
oh, Josaline was faster

It's not the only one that's not thought through (superior ursine right after you get to Velen? ). I won't lie, it has it's charm, since it makes the world feel more believable/random... but from a progression standpoints, it's awfully painful. They just should remove revel requirements for crafted gear too.

Odd dilema then. Knew first armor was only lev 14 and i'd be over-leveled even if rushed story quests - but figured had to since we need base version to upgrade. Read you can upgrade this set to master, lev 30-something (which is good).

Not good though is having to advance story so late in progression to even start building this armor set. So will hold off and just get to kaer morhen when i get there naturally - which for me is doing all lowest level side quests first before starting each/next main story quest. Guess that means though that the first and probably 2nd upgrade to wolf armor will be useless doe me as I'm already lev 20 and still exploring large parts of velen and skellige.

The enhanced set is lvl 21, so it should be somewhat useful from Kear Morhen onward... superior is 29, so it can basically used to end of the game. Master is lvl 34, so: Post game stuff for that.

All true, but then why have level 14 diagram in a zone that is not open at that level? This is the point of most peoples complaints.

True, that doesn't make sense, since it's the only armor not assessable at it's intended level...

The one other exception found so far is the first griffin sword level 7 guarded by the lev 14 wyvern.

wouldnt go as far to say it is not accessable, but it sure took my lev 6 char quite a few jumping of hoops to get by, steal, and run like hell being chased 1/4 pf the entire northern map by that damned bird.

Yea, but that's not hard locked by the story... I still think Kaer Morhen should be made accessible from the get go. Only the region, not the fortress.

Hmm. So, Kaer Morhen is at the end? Damn. I was really excited when I heard about the gear. I'm going so slow, pretty much because of my completionist gaming habits. I'm probably like two or three levels away from going to Skellige (still searching for Dandelion). So, It doesn't feel like I'm anywhere near the end (I'm level 15).

Kinda bummed to hear I won't get to use the classic Witcher gear until the end of the game. But, meh. I'll keep using the Kaer Morhen armor until then.
