You can use avconv / ffmpeg.

I used avconv to record TW2.

Example (for Linux, on other systems you can use other filters instead of x11grab, such as dshow on Windows):

Code:
avconv -f x11grab -s 1920x1200 -framerate 60 -i :0.0 -codec:v libvpx -crf 4 -b:v 10M -codec:a null result.webm

It should, I never tried it on Windows though. Check here: http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/

If you're looking for something free and easy on Windows, people recommend MSI Afterburner's recording features.

I have never personally used that though, so you'll have to rely on the internet for guidance.

If you have a GeForce graphics card (GTX 600 series or newer) Nvidia's Shadowplay which is part of the GeForce Experience package is a good option, I believe.

Yeah, I like shadowplay. You can record desktop with it too.

I use FRAPS to take screenshots and it works fine but sometimes it makes my PC run very slowly. Like I normally have 60fps and it slows down to 4fps. Not a problem for screenshots but I wouldn't use it for recording videos.

I've never tested any of these myself but as far as I know, FRAPS, Dxtory, OBS and Mirillis Action! are some of the more popular ones. You can check them out. If you don't wanna lose yourself in the settings and just want a "one-click" solution, you can try either the Nvidia's Shadowplay or AMD's Gaming Evolved App, depending on your GPU of choice.

Also, as Sid mentioned (will mention, in the future O_O), lossless video files can take up to 3GB per minute so that's one thing to keep in mind.

Oh boy, if we're going to get to the thick of it then...
There is no "best" it all depends on individual cases.

Shadowplay/(AMD equivalent) use Hardware encoding, which isn't expensive on framerate but the quality of HW encoding is not very good.
FRAPS, Dxtory - They can record losslessly - 0 quality loss but you'll have to encode manually and recording losslessly takes a lot of disk space and eats performance.

Like @sidspyker said, if you have nVidia GTX 660 or above - use ShadowPlay feature because it's freaking amazing! Seriously, files aren't as ridiculiously big as those from FRAPS and when you record it pretty much doesn't affect your FPS at All! You can choose to record for 1080p - 60fps etc.. Great feature for every nVidia user, I have been using it since I got GTX760 and I don't regret it.

ffmpeg also can record losslessly. But what for? It's not like you need to make a high quality trailer or anything. Unless you think that lossless recording is more realtime and can avoid skipping better.

@Gilrond

One simple reason being lossless recording takes a lot of diskspace yes but since it's not doing complex encoding it's easier on the system at record time.
Then I can easily edit the videos while they're still in lossless mode, do whatever I want and THEN finally encode to desired quality instead of gradual decrease due to any edits before final processing.

To take it further SSD should be useful for that, since while raw recording is easier on CPU it would be more heavy on I/O and if game will try loading anything form the disk it can slow down as well unless that I/O is fast enough.
