White frost explained

Can anyone give a good description of what it exactly is? As far as I know it's an ice age that all worlds will face, but is there more?

In the books it was an ice age that was specifically going to happen on the continent (not on the Aen Elle world).
In the game it's more of a supernatural event\entity that consumes entire worlds, and is currently busy consuming the Aen Elle world (Which is why they want to abandon their world and come to the continent en masse).

no, its still the "ice age" event, where planets are moved away from their suns, which causes worlds to freeze.. in W3, its Aen Elle world that is being consumed slowly (Elves live longer, therefore it kinda affects them more) so they decided to "relocate" their population to the Witcher world, from where they once left.. Eredin wants to conquer the world first, while Avallachs plan is to (im guessing) relocate to different world. They both need Ciri to open the portal between planets...

The main difference between book white frost and game white Frost is the fact that in books it was inevitable process that was to happen on the continent in 3000 thousand years but in games out of nowhere Ciri has a power to stop it and she has to try "for Geralt, Yen, Triss etc." which is bullshit because they'll be dead before white frost comes anyway

no, not really. Illithine prophesies were in books as well. whole prophecy calls for a child of elder blood to either start it or stop it...

"The world will perish amidst ice and be reborn with the new sun. Reborn of the Elder Blood, of Hen Ichaer, of a planted seed. A seed that will not sprout but burst into flames!"

There was not a world in book that Ciri can stop White Frost. Elves wanted to use Elder blood to travel from one universe to another when Ice age will come. Nimue in Lady of the Lake provide that this will happen on the continent 3000 years so it will be around 4400. The whole witcher saga ends in 1268, W3 ends in 1275,

There is no way to stop white frost in the books. Ciri or her children could have a power to open the gates to other world to move all the people to other worlds. Aen Elle can transfer to other worlds a limited amount of people, but Ciri or her children would be more powerful to move all living to another place. The white frost is nothing but an Ice Age, inevidable and theoretically far away in time, so there is no rush, everyone that wanted Ciri to reproduce just wanted to control her genome, to obtain this power and have it under control.
In the games it is hard to explain logically. I think they wanted frost to became a magic anomaly, that consumes the worlds one by one, and thys, should be stopped. I am not shure how she stopped it, as I imagined, she just like, fought the snow or watewer? It was never shown.

In the novels it's a natural and inevitable climate(thermal) change.
Think of it as the opposition of global warming: when the temperature falls ice caps and glaciers grow on the poles and in turn reflect more sun rays(heat) back to space. So in the end white frost would freeze whole continent.
