Who do you think/would you like to see appear in Orion?

I want to come across T-Bug. Sure, she died...but did she? We never saw a body. T-Bug is nothing if not a planner. I think she had a rando body on ice that roughly matched hers, along with an ironclad identity change...when she saw the Konpeki caper going sideways, she torched the body beyond positive ID, activated the new identity, got a face rework from a trusted Ripper, and walked away.

Without the money from the Konpeki caper, she's still stuck in Night City, and still a netrunner for hire, under a different handle. She'll do *anything* to keep her original identity a secret and stay off Arasaka's radar.

I never accept a fictional character's death that happens 'offstage'. T-Bug could definitely reappear. There's that mysterious Greetings From Des Moines shard that shows up in V's apartment, that makes allusions to Philip K. Dick's UBIK novel, that is about characters that aren't sure whether they are alive or dead. At the same time, she just might never appear again...one of the many loose, dangling story threads in the game.

I wanna meet Morgan Blackhand in some sort of way, also hoping for more of a forked storyline with the option to side with diffrent fractions. Would also wanna see more of a lock in so you cant see everything on 1 play trough even if it makes the game shorter, never really liked all the ncpd side stuff, just feelt like padding. I have a feeling V wont be the main character and at most will make a short cameo.. Might get to see some of the old characters too i guess but in short cameo roles.

8ug 8ear and a few of the other characters would be great to continue in the next game. I guess it depends on how far in the future the next game is but it would be cool to have the ability to add your own name of choice and character build in the game as one other person suggested.

Since I suspect that The Tower ending of Phantom Liberty may be an advance glimpse of Orion's Night City, there are a lot of possibilities there. I am particularly intrigued by whatever's going on with River and Panam... Misty, Judy, Vik and Kerry seem to be largely out of the picture, but that could change. Fixers? Maybe some new ones. Mama Welles? Jeff and Liz Peralez? [is Jeff now the crazy, AI-controlled mayor of NC?] What's happening in Dogtown? Still a somewhat benign military dictatorship? Has Pacifica been gentrified? The possibilities are endless...

I have said in other threads, I really don't want to see V's story continue, I think it's played out. That said, we could definitely see some of the other NPCs make an appearance. As long as they're not tied to a particular outcome in the first game where they could live or die, any of the other NPCs could show up.

My controversial pick is T-Bug. I know, she's "dead"...but is she? My rule of thumb in books or movies is: "If you don't actually see the body, they're not really dead." I think T-Bug knew the Konpeke heist would likely go sideways, and had a backup exit ready. She faked her own death, and is still doing 'runner things under a different identity.

Yes, she's dead, her friend who works at the netrunner shop where you get the ping quickhack after "the rescue" confirms her body was found in her appartment.
A body was found...not her body. See my post toward the top of this page.

I'd like to see V return, but not as the protagonist, at least at the beginning. Eg they might turn up a way in and perhaps be playable perhaps not (a good example of this approach is Ciri in Witcher 3). With the passage of enough time between the stories there's no reason aside from development time not to be able to incorporate every possible ending from the base game since it would just be back story. Think Letho from Witcher 2 being an option in Witcher 3 depending on the outcome of Witcher 2.

All the endings(except suicide) can be made canon if CDPR wants to continue V's story. They can all pick up where they left off, have V cured or whatever, then they can do a time-skip or something. If you chose The Tower as your ending, then it just goes straight to the time-skip maybe...that's one way of making it work.

And unless the devs SPECIFICALLY said that V's story is done, to assume it is, is pure speculation. We know NOTHING of Orion other than it's going into pre-production.

Onto the question though. I wanna see all the characters who aren't dead make a return if it's a continuation of V's story. Kerry, Panam, Judy(she leaves Night City but could always make her way back), River, The Aldecaldos, etc. They are great characters who, like with V, I feel have more story to tell on their ends. Hell, we don't know if the relic is destroyed in any of the endings so theoretically Johnny could still be alive, either in Cyberspace with Alt or still on the biochip being held somewhere.
Even the short ending is escapable given the Relic!

All of the characters that are still alive and even give some of the side characters bigger parts, Like 8ug 8ear.

I personally think that V's story has concluded, and I'm ready to play as a new protagonist in Orion. Because of that, I don't think we'll see many of the primary supporting cast return (i.e., the closest ones to V). For example, if the next game takes place in Night City, then Panam, Judy, and Misty will all likely be in different parts of the country or the world. Kerry and River could still be in Night City, but I'm not certain even they would appear in Orion if the focus is on a new protagonist.

Mr. Blue Eyes seems very likely to return; I would really like to see the continuation of the plot that he's involved in.

Lucy from Edgerunners is probably my most wanted character to show up in Orion, although they'd have to write a good reason for her to return to Night City, given how much she wanted to leave it. I also would have loved to see So Mi return, but because her fate is based on player choice, it will have to depend on how CDPR decides to import or canonize the events of 2077.

Besides that, we might see more of the minor characters return, like some of the fixers, or characters like Sandra Dorsett.

Ultimately, I'm looking forward to interacting with a bunch of new characters, so I'm perfectly fine if CDPR is really selective about who they decide to have return in Orion.

Hey,
I would like to see a completely new set of characters. With Edgerunners, Mike's books, and CP77 it's nice how the stories stand on their own and bring the same cyberpunk-ish feel through different eyes.

However, I would love the new game not to repeat what CP77 did and come up with something fresh, but stay true to the cyberpunk genre - don't move to sci-fi or post-apocalypticism (too much).

It's hard to say what could be the building pillars of the new game - CP77 was about topics like the value of a human soul, life and death, and ideologies connected to that,...

What if the new game prioritized different topics - like what's one willing to do for power, homelessness, betrayal, power of friendship, heaven and hell, moving up and down on the social ladder,...
What about if heaven and hell were (also) places on the net (or mind) led to by goodwill and sins, guarded by angels and demonic creatures like Cerberus,...?
Kind of like a more religionistic and power-hungry version of cyberpunk?

Eh, I don't like this vision too much, it's too specific and seems distant to the cyberpunk genre...

Please, don't recycle Adam Smasher.

Give us his... successor.
his apprentice? ^^ Insert star wars reference

jokes aside I agree. I think Johnny and his female friend who shall remain nameless due to possible spoilers, deserve uh. How to avoid spoilers.
They deserve the conclusion that many of the endings gave them regarding smasher.
It would be a disservice to them if he came back.

Now lets say he had a borged out underling who was under his wing being trained. That would be cool.

Fraid Cerberus is already taken.
It's the janitor inhabited by... say, bad ghosts who want to wipe V.

Nothing like Ahti.

As an aside, I'd really like the writers to stay away from "there's a ticking time bomb in you and you have to fix it or you'll die" trope. It was fine for CP2077 and allowed them to pull in the canon Silverhand/Rogue/Alt/Thompson/Santiago/Spider Murphy/Arasaka story from the TTRPG, but if used again it will be overdone. Find a new way to motivate the player character...he/she has to find their sibling who's a hotshot engineer who's been abducted by a megacorp and they have to find out which one and free them, or their romantic interest is killed and they have to find out how/why they were flatlined and get revenge, just anything new and fresh.

Also if set in Night City, it would be good if the old locations still exist (not hard since the assets are already made), but they have a completely different relationship to the new character. Going into Mama Welles' bar, for example, the locals might instantly mark the new character as an outsider and be somewhat hostile. NC is a big place, there should be new and different bars, apartments, fixers, rippers, mercs, corporations (both Mega and smaller), etc. V never even knew about.

I would like if they completely reused the entire Night City but added more interactions and less locked doors and more elevation with just all new stories. I was praying MODs would be the answer but so far that has not happen. Maybe because it cannot happen. Modding Oblivion spoiled me.

Choices actually have an impact within the game world (doesn't have to be the main story). More often than not the many choices given to V were cosmetic, the illusion of choice.
