Why Ciri can't be romanced?

This topic...

Even when some people didn't read the books, cdpr made it really clear in The Witcher 3 that she is his adopted daughter. Not only is it mentioned 10 times :p but also Ciri and Geralt hug all the time :affection: If people really want to romance Ciri as Geralt, something is strange in my opinion :D

And then these people make...."weird"....fan fiction nobody really want's to read!

:eredinfacepalm:

Geralt & Ciri never had a father-daughter relationship in a 'traditional' meaning of the word. Geralt never really raised her (it was rather Yennefer, if only for a few months). But it doesn't mean that Geralt doesn't have a parental feelings towards her and vice versa. She's his child of destiny and her growing up changes nothing.
Yes, their interactions are 'liberal' but that's how a lot of children interact with their parents nowadays. It certainly doesn't mean that Ciri doesn't have respect for Geralt or that she's not thankful.

I'm glad that I give you all occasion to support each other, make fun jokes of Uma e t.c.

But your comrade by himself agreed with me by this post:

This is facts:
1. Geralt and Siri never had traditional father-daughter relationships, they do not share blood or genes, there is only mystical "destiny" - i.e. words, written in dialog, in which Geralt talk about Siri with another people.
2. As you might know, in IRL or video conversation people receive only 25% of information in verbal form, and other 75% are visuals, voice intonation, face expression and so on. I of course made a quest with that "ornitologist" sorceress, saved godling and receive a positive emotions from that, but I really don't remember any text from that conversation, I am in new big city, I am making quests with Triss which I know from mods to Skyrim, there is so much excitement, why I must care about that memories of past? Maybe after third playthrough I will remember every conversation, but in first one, this text is just hollow in comparison to all which happens in Novigrad. So this is where developers missed the point. They ought to made some interlude mission with Siri like a small girl, and Geralt adopting her and so on - but no - only text in 150+ hours video game.
3. Skjall and sauna - this is simply ridiculous - even if you don't care about Siri to that moment and your thoughts was with Yen or Triss, after sauna, all that teasing talk by Skjall's sister and last kiss, you will want her (if you are prepared by books, then you will close eyes and repeatedly press "skip" button to skip this "shame". I actually wear Siri in towel because I think all this nudity in games is stupid, but even in towel she was same beautiful and clear girl). Why developers put this part if they want player to perceive her like a daughter?? If they want her to be a daughter they will leave her as she was in prologue - a girl, and not a woman. But they purposely made her bright and cute - to catch player's attention.
4. Also nobody told me why she behaves to Vesemir with proper respect, like to a father (or grandfather) and in the same time to a Geralt like a best friend.

Yeah, Annah in Planescape: Torment for instance. That kiss. That is definitely a case of "stupid or funny", though it's probably meant to be really hot. ;)

I see where you're coming from if Geralt turned into a Drizzt in your imagination as you were gaming. Also, yeah, if you're in the age range of Ciri (early 20s?), then it's understandable that you, as the player (!!!) have a hard time developing any fatherly feelings about a similarly aged NPC.

Maybe really just use that mod that was linked earlier? I haven't looked into that, but maybe it'd be what you're looking for?
I played Planescape when i was 13 years old and that dialog with Annah was definitely hot in that times :w00t: All that game is amazing, it's a shame that masses don't understand it.
As for the mod for Siri romance I really don't need it, I'm glad with current ending where nearly everyone survives, Temeria got freedom and Siri is free and happy as a witcheress. For me it was just a question of immersion - why over-salacious Geralt don't have any encroachments for Siri - and I received an answer - she was his daughter in book series - I'm fine with that answer and thank you for the help.

Looks like geralt has an father-daughter relationship with his Iphone...

:drunk:
Good joke :happy2:
As I say I am not English, Ciri sounds strange in my language, so in our localization she is Siri.

Vesemir is an old man, like the oldest of the bunch - so it's normal that Ciri approaches him differently. With Geralt it's something else entirely, she's much more comfortable around him, they share a much deeper bond.

and in the same time to a Geralt like a best friend.

Your parents can also be your friends, you know.

Well, English is also not my native language, and i guess Ciri sounds strange in every language since Cirilla-Ciri isn't a common name in our world!

But i guess, since The Witcher has a lot of influence from middle to north european culture. The name Cirilla has some german influence in it!

Yes, parents can be friends, but parents will never perceive their childrens like people of equal age and they'll remain "young and needing guidance" for a long time before maturity comes, and Ciri is definitely far from maturity.
And that open and light-hearted coversations like we see between Geralt and Siri happens only when people understand each other clearly and accept each other's true nature - this is definitely not what can be see in relationships in typical family, no matter how good they are.
Of course there are exceptions, and family of witcher, sorceress and witcheress can certainly be such exception. But when you are playing game you look at things happening around with your eyes (not Geralt's) and developers made you see Ciri like a young cute woman with amazing personality and not like a child which need your care - that's why people who were far from witcher universe before TW3 may become misguided.
World will be destroyed by White Frost or enslaved by Eredin if Ciri haven't used her power against navigator. Geralt stood frozen and helpless - he was just a pawn in all this, Ciri could kill Eredin by herself and even fact that Geralt rided to that tower changed nothing - Ciri will anyway fight the White Frost. It is difficult to see such powerful person like her as a child.

I believe it may possibly be a variant of a Latin name Cyriacus, derived from Greek kyrios 'lord.' Cyrilla or Cirilla would be the feminine diminutive, potentially roughly translating to 'lordly girl'.

It could be, sounds plausible!
I was just guessing with my statement!

This. I heard a while ago an interview about the Witcher books and a person said "Cirilla" is a ("old") greek female name for "Mistress or Lady." It's the Feminine of "Cyril".

I believe you're correct. I traced the root to the Greek word, but simply overlooked the connection to the modern name Cyril. Thanks for drawing it to my attention! Cyrille, which could also be rendered as Cirilla, is the French form of Cyril, and can be used alternatively as a feminine name. The meaning remains 'lord', or, particularly in Ciri's case, 'lady'.

Cirilla is the female form of the Latin male first name Cyrillus. The most prominent example in ancient history is Cyrillus of Alexandria (a very problematic person in history...) ;)

This name comes from the Greek name Kyrillos which means "the glorious". @Riven-Twain You are right, because some linguists discuss about the theory that's the minimization form of Kyrios which means "the master".

The -a on the end is generally in Greek and Latin the female form. You must spend attention for the C (not existing in Greek) and the K (not existing in Latin). The K is the original Greek spelling, C is the later "Latinasation".

This thread has way too many posts in it in my honest opinion which I am going to add to now, hehe, Geralt loves Ciri as his own daughter, that should settle it right there.

What does any of this have to do with Geralt? You're talking about your own personal attraction to Ciri that you just want to live out through Geralt. You essentially want to use Geralt to live out your own fantasy of romancing Ciri. Geralt does not feel the same as you feel for Ciri. He views her as a daughter, completely. And she views him as a father.

If you really want to live out your personal fantasies, then that's what mods are for. Download your mods of choice and have a blast.

So, I just had the final mainquest conversations with the Baron. ("Tell the baron how Tamara reacted to the doll", "Tell the baron about Anna", Skellige mainquest done = a little bit more conversation about Uma.)

Counted 4 "daughter" references in this conversation alone. Including the "I hope you will find your daughter. And be a good father to her" line.

You cannot claim that the game wouldn't hammer the point home how the Geralt/Ciri relationship is like.

Exactly!
I don't know why people have to argue so long about this unnecessary topic!

You can also write your own fan fiction about yourself....with Ciri, if you have the need for that! lol
