Why did I spend 3 day's grinding!

+
So I really enjoyed the game, saved regularly, yada yada. Them completed the game, sat through an endless loop of credits, to then be given the choice to go back into the world & night city.... But it takes me to a save whereby I'm about to meet Hanako at the restaurant that starts the final quest?!?!
Did I just have a brain barf?! What, I played for 3 days (I enjoyed playing). But guys what's going on? You throw me back into night city, A. At the start of the end quest, and once you start the end quest, there's no saves! B. If I decide to continue from this point, I still have the chip in my head and the clocks ticking, plug Silver hand is really getting to me and I want him gone!
So can anyone tell me, why all the messages in credits welcoming me back for six months, my choice dudes, give me my choice! Why, is it my game play, or is this really how it ends and there is no going back into the game? I'm just completely gob smacked! That and the fact you don't have an option to save to Cloud, mind you in game saving is awful and none existent, it's up to the player, when, where how!
Guys I'm gutted & peeved if I'm honest, if I knew this game would be like this I would not of purchased it!! Your comments (helpful) will be most welcome

Well, there is no "post-ending" content. Once the end-credits rolls, the story and the game are over.
The option "One More GIG" after the end credits is only here to :
- Experience another ending if there are another available, if you want to.
- Completing the content you might have missed, if you want to.
- Or just enjoy Night City before the ending(s), if you want to.

To be fair, that one more gig thing was meant to tease the upcoming expansion/Phantom Liberty.

Yep!
Beside, I could be wrong because I never did it myself, but as far as I know the option isn't available after completing the Tower ending (Phantom Liberty ending).
And :
If this option wasn't available and if you completed the game before Phantom Liberty release, you would have to start the game over because well... you won't be able to call Reed on the roof :D

A. At the start of the end quest, and once you start the end quest, there's no saves!
That's the purposes of "point of no return" saves. if you want to keep playing, you restart just before the last quest, and that's logical, only 1 ending would possibly allow V to continue as a merc in Night City, and you can 't guess which one in advance. The best choice for devs was this point of no return for every players.

B. If I decide to continue from this point, I still have the chip in my head and the clocks ticking, plug Silver hand is really getting to me and I want him gone!
I don't know which ending you took, but clock is still ticking in every major endings anyway (By major, I mean possibly canon).

You can stay as much as you like in NC, the clock won't stop ticking. I appreciate that, have been on racing in NC for some 800 hours in the last few years.

Occasionally, I visit the entertainment park called Arasaka Tower to kill Adam Smasher, talk to Alt & Johnny and that stuff. Then back to NC.

As others have said, That option is to give you the chance to complete anything you may have left unfinished before you started the final mission, OR to choose a different ending option(assuming you've unlocked multiple choices) Then of course it allows you to just explore the world and look for secrets or interesting things you may have missed(Which there are plenty to find out there) without having to start over from the beginning.

CDPR have been pretty straight forward that this is a story driven RPG with an ending, and no "End Game Content" the end is the end.

My suggestion if you really enjoyed the game up until now. roll a new V make different choices see how things change, try a new ending, see if you missed secrets, see if you missed opportunities by choosing wrong or just not finding them. try a new build with a different play style, there is tons of replay value here, just not "End Game" I feel like experiencing the story differently is probably more interesting than just running about the city shooting stuff anyway.

If you're on PC there are plenty of Mods that can add more for you to do, Plus assuming you have Phantom Liberty there are some (limited) repeatable content linked to that expansion. There are also mods that shut Johnny up outside of key story moments if you don't want to hear him.

Also this right here..... The reason for this is, depending on what ending you get V is not always still in NC, I won't say more than that to not spoil them if you've only seen one ending.... But there are several potential reasons why V wouldn't just be walking around NC after the credits roll. I'm curious what ending you ended up with?
