Why did they make the actual sexual content so scarce?

Honestly mu main gripe isnt for nudity and sex for Sex sake. CDPR Stood for mature themes based on the subject matter.

Witcher. Geralt slept with any female with a pulse,
Cyberpunk, Sex is a deep part of Cyberpunk. It should fit to draw players into the world. Not be in bed with merideth fully clothed...That is stupid and lazy.

its not a " combat game" ( division , destiny watchdog ac ) either yet you see multiple threads asking for "balancing" which I think is the lowest priority you can get. Combat is just the boring filler stuff between real content.

but I think this game has less nudity and adult content than w2 and three. They could have done much more with the Adult content both in the romances and city world

Funny, cause I'm been saying this game isn't about combat since launch. It's about the story, atmosphere and classic Cyberpunk themes.

GTA V at least had strippers and nudity, you don't actually see that in Night City, interactive ones at least...

Only topless. The only "nudity" you see is Trevors balls, and I don't think that's a good thing.

In a game with genital customization and where sex was pushed heavily in the marketing, and where sex is a HUGE part of the environment (sex shops, red light districts, strip clubs, prostitutes, EVERYWHERE) there is almost no sexual content in the game.

Despite the huge amount of sexual themes and settings, the sexual content that you as your avatar can actually engage with is completely bare bones.

It's also pretty bizarre that there are 1000 strip clubs and you can't actually, you know, see any strippers.

Did they wuss out on this aspect or did they just run out of time and couldn't beef it up more?

By the looks (and sounds, considering recent leaks) of things, quite a bit of content was cut in order to get the game to market in time for Christmas (especially considering last-gen consoles). I would imagine the removal of adult braindances/strip clubs, etc. was another quick move by corporate to try to keep the game as accessible as possible for more sales; but I am only surmising.

I don't think the game was ever supposed to have too much in the way of blatant sexual content originally, as I seem to remember an interview/article from sometime in the last year or so that stated there wouldn't be (and was actually quite surprised when the more recent Night City Wire Episodes seemed to allude to the idea there would be); but I was pretty certain there would be at least a few erotic braindances that could be arousing and suggestive, without crossing too many borders.

Perhaps the game was a victim of its own hype coupled with poor internal communication, and some part of dev management started adding features that alarmed the execs, and they ordered them to hobble those as well?

I have little doubt that someone will spill the whole story soon enough!

In my opinion this game did a complete bait and switch regarding nudity/romances, everyone knows sex sells and that's exactly what the marketing team did. Some will say this wasn't meant to be a dating sim or porn, and I agree and most didn't expect it to be, but now it seems this game is trying to be PG13 with the censorship after the fact, as if CDPR is now ashamed of the game they created, although during preorders that didn't stop them to pretend they were breaking barriers and put sexual themes in all marketing as much as they could get away with, even the lyrics of promotional songs were alluding to this "...we like the pain, we like to F***...", the Night City website was also full of the sexual suggestive ads you would find in the game, and not to mention the pointless genital customization.

Jeah. This all the way. And that's why they get now the verbal opinion beatings and Splitt of fans which think about not supporting them anymore. There are just too much cuts and not delivered promises.

Because if they really do that then this game will definitely get the 'AO or R18 rating.

you know, it's a rather embarrassing tricky rating usually only found in you-know-what shops.

And IIRC, steam, PSN , XBOX and most major retailers will NOT sell AO/R18 content....

I imagine they realized that the game was nowhere near ready approaching Dec 10th. And focused on things that deemed important. Sexual scenes probably didn't make the cut.

Consumer wise those ratings make no sense. When I look at the disc case it says 18. So if I buy games, if it says 18, I assume it to be for adults only. When buying such games here, you need to show your ids to prove your age.. so why the hell is it labeled to be for adults, treated like it is for adults, but apparently it is for not adults too?

Because certain countries have lawmakers so delusional that they don't understand that every kid with access to internet at the age of 12 has seen hardcore porn. These people should spend a weekend on Tik-Tok.

Maybe the devs are all married? BOOM! Hahaha, just kidding.

They dont understand us... and...this its the reality... that's what I talk about 'script impositions' (too). They start from what they conceive of the world and not from more advanced, accurate, sensitive research on players, their realities.

This is serious in this industry ... they are sensitive to profits, insensitive to people.

I just love that they getting precious about showing some skin, but involved discussions of dismembering children alive and the like are all over the place.

This is the biggest hypocrisy in this industry. Free violence, or the stimulation of it, 'is valid'. Showing affective human relationships, 'is not valid' because it does not 'sell'.

CDPR has nothing different from EA or any other company in this hypocritical environment ...

It's a huge missed opportunity, imo. CDPR could have pushed open the door for AAA video games in the adult market without being sleazy and cheap about it. A game with excellent production values featuring contextual nudity (male and female) set within a greater story. But no. No, they ran the math and figured they'd rather back off, play it safe, self-censor and collect the cheques. Just another of the myriad ways Cyberpunk 2077 set itself up for failure.

Given today's almost puritanical atmosphere perhaps the devs couldn't ignore the whiff of sulfur in the air and figured they'd rather not be mobbed by 'offended' types on social media. A crying shame. CDPR's character artists did some outstanding work - some very sexy character design, but no...erm... sex. Ah well. Maybe next time.

I mean.. that's kinda harsh. No one should be forced to spend time on Tik-Tok.

But still, I was refering to 18 vs AO thing. I understand that there might be some? countries where 18 is not equilevant of being an adult. Adult in the eyes of law, at least. I can't name any though.. so they must be in minority.

Kill = sell... profits... relations = dont sell, no profits. To sumarize...

Sell as many copies across as many platforms as possible. Remember witcher 1 with the cards you would collect for each monster lady? Thats not who they are now. Just sales.

You ever wonder why store bought canned and packaged food has no flavor and is generally bland? Its so the most amount of people can stomach it and not find it off putting. Thats what CDPR did. It's a game for everyone, but also a game for no one as a result.

Well they got want they wanted. I hope it works out for them.
