why is cdpr selling their own game for so cheap

$39 preordered, 47 new?

games sell for 69.99 and I consider 69.99 a bargain for 40+ hours worth of entertainment software. I can barely get dinner for $49.

Its not like the witcher 3 is a crowd funded thing- it is a huge AAA game (probably the biggest of the year) with millions of preorders- why the discount? :p

I mean.. sure.. you save retail costs or whatever, but so does origin, ubisoft, etc.

because unlike other computers they put their players first above monumental greed. Doesnt mean they dont like making money but their business has always been firmly on the players experience.

EA and Ubisoft have been massively exploiting the game industry for decades, its companies like CDPR and Paradox who are trying to make up for the others woeful business approach.

Because the game isn't worth paying full price for.

competitive pricing. In the USA most, if not all, new games cost $60 for PC and console games. Whereby eliminating competitive pricing and relaying on pre-order incentives. The rest of the world, maybe, but where I am from, new PC games cost between $37 and $42. Going over $42 it's expensive. Now when I say expensive, I mean, not the norm. For console games the norm is about $67. The Witcher 3 for consoles $60 is cheap because it's below the norm. Competitive pricing plays a role here and I'm sure around the world it does too. So the pricing you mentioned is not cheap. It's the norm. Then there is another way of looking at it. After 9/11 people were not flying a lot anymore. Many airline prices went up and I mean up, to compensate for the lost seats. There were one or two airlines where the prices came down and they filled more seats, making profit. CDP is pricing THe Witcher 3 to sell. And it will sell. Just below the norm for most of the world.

In the US new mainstream games cost 59.99, and quickly go on sale. GOG would give you up to 20% off when pre-ordering if you owned both Witcher games there already.

The game looks fantastic and it destroys most high end PC setups with graphical options unthinkable in consoles. Stop spreading FUD.

Because they care about the product. They have their own philosophy. In other words.......because CDPR is awesome.

@volsung: i don't see the huge difference between console game and PC, red said it the games will be slightly better on PC, just that. The difference is in draw distance of foliage, shadows and hairworks mostly. The rest is the same for PS4 and almost on xbox. The game looks great on medium settings, on ultra it looks better on some things especially at the distance, but thats all. The game runs very well for its graphics, it's amazing. LOD on ultra settings might be heavy for most computers but thats just normal and some tweaks would enable more detail, more demanding too. I would like to see it with SweetFX to see other palette of colors and contrast.

Uhm where have you been the last 6 months? We have seen lying, misrepresentation and downright dishonesty from them. No communication beyond PR speak with the players, and they still have the original screenshots on the steam/gog page. Ubisoft have done the same tricks but least you expected it from them. They sell it on GOG cheaper because they dont have to pay any fees to microsoft/sony/valve. Its 100% profit.

the only thing I have seen a LOT of opinated gamers who somehow think CDPR are a Paragon of Incorruptible Virtue. As if any little thing is an absolute betrayal of everything. They are still a company full of human beings still capable of making questionable decisions to outsiders. If I had as many people/customers questioning and tearing apart everything single thing I do at work for conspiracy and/or hate I would never leave the house and go to work.

the whole DLC vs Expansion pack, a big non event by people who cant tell the very clear difference. The whole *groan* downgrade thing, a group of people who would rather have a game that looks like two year old pictures and not work, than have a game that works. Then there was GOG Galaxy is DRM thing *groan* once again people trying to find fault without educating themselves first. blah blah.

Now I dont like their partnership with Xbox, but that is based on my hatred for Microsoft, but that doesnt mean I think CDPR have sold their soul, just means they made a decision I personal have an issue with.

People need to stop thinking there are good and bad guys in the world. Hell that is what these games are about. Good people doing what they think is good in their circumstances but people on the outside having different opinion.

THATS what is so sad about this all, these games and books are all about the 'heroes' not always being heroic, but that doesnt mean waht they do is any less heroics on another level.

I dont expect the people I respect to always do things I respect or understand but short of killing people I will always try and understand why they think it is a good idea.
