Why is Seltkirk's armor important?

Why is Seltkirk's armor important?

When doing the quest "conspiracy theory" & "courage symbolized" we're never told who Seltkirk is or why his armor is courage symbolized. Yet when Geralt finds Traut he wants the armor. Geralt knows nothing about the armor at that point.... It makes no sense. Did I miss something?

Yes, the curse can only be fixed with objects that symbolize different things that happened in that battle, Seltkirk's armor is one of them.

Talk to Zyvik, he can tell you a lot about the previous battle at Vergen, and Seltkirk's role in it.

Oh ja, I know why it's important. But if you save Odrin (without getting any plot info from anybody else), then find Traut, Geralt instantly knows he needs the armor. In reality he has never heard of the armor or Seltkirk.
