Why there's no mention of the previous romantic choice when romancing Shani?

By the end of my game Geralt was with Yennefer. Now i used that endgame save to start Hearts of Stone and there's no even a mention of Yennefer if i try or don't try hitting on Shani. Is it a bug or just a missing logical piece of writing?

If you romanced Shani in TW1 you woke up in bed in Triss...

Not a bug. Witcher Just isn't perfect on tracking romance choices

None of the decisions made in TW1 are flagged in TW3.

It's almost as if cd projekt took the amnesia thing a little bit too literal.

There is no save import from TW1 to TW3, but there is one dialogue choice in the expansion that simulates the Shani/Triss choice from the first game.

As far as I know, the Triss/Yennefer choice in TW3 does not matter in the expansion, and often not even in the base game itself.

I was just thinking of Shani the other day and then Geralt mentioned her during the quest I was on (Carnal Sins in Witcher 3). It's at the end of the quest when talking to the morgue doctor Joachim. There was a dialogue option to ask about Shani, which suggests that the game knows that I romanced her in Witcher 1. Anyway, apparently she was Joachim's assistant for a year and is now probably working as a medic on the frontlines.

In Witcher 1 I preferred Shani over Triss, but the second half of Witcher 1 kind of forces Triss on you. So I'm glad Shani is back again :)

I romanced Yennefer in the main Witcher 3 story and the thing that makes this Shani romance so strange is that Yennefer is ok with me playing around as long as my heart belongs to her, she has even said so herself. But with this Shani romance here in HoS it's pretty much clear that it's a serious romance kind of deal, and not just a quick roll in hay.

I romanced Shani before in the series and actually choose her over Triss, so it would have been nice to say something like "You're a great girl Shani and we had a great time but I'm with Yen now, you should find someone else". Kind of a missed opportunity if you ask me.

I think they were trying to avoid getting too complicated in the romance aspect of the expansion -- which is why they let Vlod do most of the flirting and then have Shani feel confused afterward. I think them not mentioning either romanciable option was probably a good idea, though maybe doing something like what Geralt can say to Keira Metz like 'There's someone else.' Mentioning whoever you're with I think would be a little unnecessary.

And on reflection, I think neither of them were looking for some long romance -- as O'Dimm was saying by comparing them to the married couple -- but they were both dwelling on past feelings. Maybe this could be why neither of them actually spoke about relationships.

maybe the second expansion will explore what happens if you cheated on Triss or Yennefer with shani or what happens if you were with all 3 of then lol

I just hope Shani is in the second expansion as well (pretty sure it won't happen, but one can only hope)

doesn't this expansion take place before the events of Witcher 3?

No there are severals lines that hint it takes place after The Battle For Kaer Morhen and depending on choices after Reason of State but before the final battle .

The details about Blood and Wine are not known yet, but I suspect it will be like this:
- a new area added to the world map of the game that can be reached by fast travel (similarly to Skellige)
- playable during or after the main quest at any time, but designed for high level players
- no characters from the base game or Hearts of Stone :(
- to return to the topic, new Keira-like one time fling(s) will be added, with no consequences on the romances in the base game or HoS

well there is one mention:

When you are talking to a ceirtan ghost he asks you if you were close to her, if you say you were, she will mention that you and her parted ways in a different dialouge, if not, she will comment that you left with Triss

Maybe it will be Fringilla but that would make things too complicated, I guess.

SO on this subject (sort of)

I noticed when coming back from Child of Elder Blood, that the gals are hanging out on the upper deck of the boat, talking. One of them says "Besides the two of us and Ciri, Geralt has slept with every woman here" and then Phillipa says "In your case its only a matter of time"

i cant tell who is saying the first bit, cant get to the boat fast enough. I think its Rita......

SO does that mean Geralt and Fringilla were bumping uglies at some point???

Geralt and Fringilla actually did get together in the books for quite some while. Geralt was hanging out in Toussaint and met Fringilla, and well, let's just say they were close. Very close.

lol that guy. Well that makes the line about " I and what concerns me have not been a concern of yours for some time" or whatever make more sense.

Also its pretty funny that Phil thinks Rita is in line for the ol Boner of Blaviken treatment.

I kinda love Philipa.

I think there are some illogical points in HoS if you play the DLC postgame. What's for example with the Redanian guards in front of the academy in Oxenfurt? They say the academy is closed by command of Radovid but in my playthrough the king is dead at this time?!
