Wikia is falsely attributing content to former users

Yesterday I got an email from my good friend DiamondDove saying that Wikia had falsely attributed a wiki contribution to her. This was bad enough, but this morning, I found that they've done the same to me (and presumably many other people).

In particular, Wikia has banned me from their entire network, so I could not possibly upload any content, even in the most unlikely event that I wanted to. I have sent them an email demanding that they stop this dishonest practice but you might want to check and see if they have falsely attributed content to you.

Most of the content being so attributed is youtube videos.

I find this practice very disturbing.

Remember, the official wiki is now at Curse, where we don't falsely attribute content.

I've been using the wiki on Wikia for a while now, and it's not a bad site. I'm sorry, but are you criticizing them just because they banned you? That's doesn't seem very rational.

It doesn't happen to me, Game Widow, I think the italian wiki is pretty ignored. I'll keep an eye on it anyway. Thanks for sharing.

@kitta
There are other reasons why the Witcher Wiki has been moved to Curse, reasons about the censorship, arbitrarly editing pages and profiles by the Wikia staff and Wiki term of use. Game Widow has been banned after she moved on Curse.

And yes, Wikia is bad.

Any chance of getting the Curse link stickied somewhere? Might be useful for newcomers joining up for Witcher 3.

Edit: Oi dumbarse, there's a link in the stickies of general discussion, what are you blind?

Don't talk to me like that you cycloptic streak a piss.

Right that's it, me and me outside now, let's settle this the old fashioned way.

You're on you ugly bastard, rest of me personalities wait here this isn't gonna be pretty.

Yes this. I don't remember who, but one of the guys from the red team had posted here in the forums for the same reasons months ago.

Thanks for the heads-up, Game Widow.

And Bloths, you may win that argument yet - I just noticed that the English-language wiki isn't actually IN that sticky. Fixing it now.

So... Is Wikia only bad in the specific case of the English Witcher Wiki? Or is moving the Wikis in process? Or is it up to each local Wiki to move or not?
I'm wondering because almost all the other links in said thread are still to Wikia.

It's up to the other wikis to move as and when they want to, it's a lot of work, so they may or may not do so.

This thread gives more info on the background (and may explain to kitta on why Game Widow was banned, it's not the way it looked :) )

Wikia Term of Use applies to the entire website, foreign language wikis included. If your wiki is hosting a file uploaded in the english wiki, and that file is removed, your wiki is affected too.
The Witcher sex cards has been removed for instance censored for pornography, and they are disappeared from the entire website, german, french, polish, italian wiki included.

So far only 4 wikis has been moved to curse: italian, german, french, polish.

Five (5) wikis have moved :)/> : English, German, French, Italian and Polish

and @kitta, I'm not complaining because they banned me, I'm specifically complaining because they are adding stuff to the wiki and saying it was me, when it clearly can't be, because they have banned me. If you look at the recent changes, it says that "Game widow" (me!) added a video ... that isn't possible. So it's a blatant lie. That is my issue with them. I don't care that they banned me. I do care if they start saying I'm adding stuff to their wiki when I'm not (and cannot).

@ secondchildren, I see, thanks for explaining.

@ game widow: sorry this is happening, I agree it's very shady behavior. I hope you sort them out, but in the meanwhile I'll be using Curse wiki :]
