Wild Hunt - TW1 return of a cerain character

Spoiler for TW1 at the end of the game.

At the end of The Witcher you are given the choice to give the soul of Jacques de Aldersberg to the King of the Wild Hunt.
Does that mean that if you decided to give his soul to the Wild Hunt that Jacques de Aldersberg might return in TW3.

I personally would love to see him return in TW3.

It would be an interesting encounter or even a nice plot twist.

I am not sure whether it would be possible. It's asking for state to be imported from game 1 through game 2 (where it was not mentioned) to game 3. More importantly, a valid save can be from before you make that decision.

I thought that the only valid saves from TW1 were the ones from the courtyard of the chapel of the flaming rose (after you make the decision). Did CDProjekt only take certain choices to TW2 or did they take all major choices and just didn't use all of them in TW2?

Jacques de Aldersberg: "The Witcher 1 was merely a setback!"

I believe that this choice was there for a reason.. ;)

Nice one, well spotted OP, I think it'd be great if he was there somehow. An unforgettable character, who maybe even deserves to be slaved to the ship, or given a chance for peace.

I don't think the current loading of previous game state requires that every possible decision has a player chosen resolution, the game (TW2) has its own default state for all these variables anyway, as will TW3.

I must admit though, I've been having nagging doubts about the complexity CDPR are facing in providing any kind of meaningful recollection / resolution / reacquaintance, with characters and events from the previous games. Players seem to expect to meet characters who survived their games, but that may be unreasonable putting a lot of effort into characters not every player is going to see. Thats not what we got in TW2, all TW1 survivors got was "mentioned in dispatches".

W2 was criticized for this. Especially with how they hand waved Shanni away.

Witcher 2 was specifically built with the idea of being the interlude between W1 and W3, with many choices that affected entire kingdoms!

I care less about meeting certain characters then I do about the fate of Kaedwen or Temeria have a real impact on the game. As for not being able to do it because of resources. Well you know what: When you are making a world larger then Skyrim you have no excuse as far as I am concerned to ignore previous choices and consequences.

Any save from the Ice Plains will do, so it is possible to import a game in which Jacques sort of isn't even dead yet.

At this point, we don't know what decisions are read from a TW1 save import and preserved in a TW2 save game, beyond the ones that are reflected in the game. But even if this one is there to bring forward, it has the additional state of "no decision" to account for. It's feasible to impose a default decision for that case.

I did not know that you could import a save from the ice plains. Well I suppose that if they account for this decision , then they could follow the player's choice or a default choice in the case of no decision.

I'm just hoping that they at least reference Jacques in some way in TW3. Well hopefully not just Jacques. I mean The Wild Hunt kinda used Leo in TW1 so who knows.
