Will the game even start with a dualcore?

Will the game even start with a dualcore?

I've read the minimum requirements but, until DA:I I could still run all games decently even if I didn't meet their minimum requirements. DA:I won't even start even with a low framerate.

I repeat, it's not a question of whether it will perform good, I want to know if it will start or it's hardcoded or something to only work with quadcores and above.

I'd like to buy it but if it's like DA:I then I'll have to upgrade.

My CPU is E8400DC, GPU HD5870 and I have 4GB RAM on Win7.

Thanks for reading.

Unfortunately, unless the devs chime in themselves. Nobody can answer this without trying it first. The best you can do is work with the minimum requirements. Which is a quad core.

If your copy of win7 isn't x64, then I can answer, it won't run on x86. So far as I'm aware, there's no 32-bit version of the game's binary.

Thanks for answering.

My windows are 64bit.

I can't change just my CPU, my motherboard and RAM have to change too. Will there be a demo?

Sorry about your predicament. What motherboard do you have. If you're set on the PC version (as in, you don't have either current gen console, etc). You could check out getting a budget quad core(if the board is compatible), or something. Depending on were you live, you can get a decent quad core cpu fairly cheap.

If you're not experienced in changing cpu parts, there are various good videos on doing that you eg: youtube.

Just a suggestion.

Edit: I see you edited the post to include more info. Do you know your board's model?

Also, no demo for the game. It would be nice though, if they released a small benchmark application, for people in your situation.

My motherboard is a P5E3 ws pro. The socket is 775 and the only quad cores for that are old and I doubt I can even find them.

And even if I did they're still weak, no point upgrading to anything less than i5.

My motherboard has 4 slots and I have 4x1RAM, which means my new motherboard must have 4 slots which are more expensive, or I have to buy new RAM, 2x4.

Plus I've heard new sockets will be released soon and I am not sure if upgrading now is wise, how long until quadcores and my socket are obsolete?

The store I'll buy the hardware from will put it together.

Yeah, I agree about now not being the best time to go changing platform. I only upgraded my GPU this time(for the game), waiting until later to (hopefully) upgrade the rest. Granted my board/cpu aren't as old as yours at all.

I've currently got a 3770k & a Maximus V gene. I'd also agree with your point about quad cores. I meant it as a temp solution, if you were desperate, tbh. I wouldn't really be comfortable with getting a quad for my next upgrade. I'd want at least a 6 core, or 8 if the prices are decent.

Locking this, as it duplicates other threads, and such questions are best answered in those, where there's a lot of people looking and helping:
