Will this be available in Australia

yes that is exactly my viewpoint too. You know something has gone horribly wrong with society when a consenting adult can't watch or play what they want to in the privacy of their own home.

Completely agree. Lucky for me, I am playing on PC and I will be able to find some way to obtain it regardless, I am quiet resourceful ;) lol but I feel sorry for those on console.. my hope is that, because the game is so extremely mainstream and high profile, potentially selling record numbers worldwide, the ratings department in Australia will feel pressured to allow it

I hope so...I really do. I don't want a heavily censored game (compared to overseas versions of the game either) . I want to enjoy the game in all its full glory.

There really is no debating this, our media has already expressed concerns about this, which they called "rampant drug use, nudity and violence"

Our ratings board refused classification for a small indy game called We Happy Few, and all it is in that game is a drug called joy that makes you happy and complicit.

So we will either play a highly censored version over here or we will need to import it from overseas if we want to play the game as meant by projekt red.

I for one hope Projekt Red tells them to stick it and make no changes to the game, i will just create a US ps4 account and play the game that way.

If you guys think that's bad, wait till you hear this.

Dragon Age: Inquisition was never sold in India, still isn't, and all because there's an M/M gay sex scene in it. It's illegal for EA to sell the game in India. I love it when my government tells me what I can and cannot do in the privacy of my own home. "Don't watch gay porn, or any kind of porn, dear citizens, for it is super illegal and will get you jail time, hurr durr." - Indian Govt.

I sure hope it's available to you guys. It'd be a shame if a fan gets screwed out of playing this game because of touchy feely censorship.

I've never tried it out, but there are a bunch of info out there about using a VPN on PS4 and Xbox to get around regional restrictions and such, so it sounds like the same trick available to PC gamers is available to console players as well. If anyone can confirm/deny this that'd be great.

It would be nice if us Australians got a response about it since we a worried it will get refused classification.

It actually doesn't need to be highly censored at all.
  • Nudity is ok; sexual violence is not (rape, stuff involving kids, etc).
  • Violence is ok; fallout 4 got through with exploding heads FFS!
  • Drug use (that gives a benefit to the player) .... well, as I've said before, make them "nanos" rather than "chems" and problem solved. That will get through the OFLC.
I actually don't see this will be a big problem with a bit of smart thinking.

I spent many hours researching and compiling the information here.

The content goes into great detail about community reaction, developer feedback, banned games, legislation, certification and its history as well as the application process concluding with potential options to circumvent any form of censorship. There is far too much to share in written form so just sit back and listen.

I hope you'll find it informative and educational. Please feel free to have your say and participate in the discussion!

Is anybody else here from Australia?
Very concerned it won't get classified due to its supposed drug use incentive/rewards system.

Please CDPR don't shut us out if this happens. Us Aussie gamers won't survive without this game releasing.

It will probably not be an issue, there is drug use in the Fallout games and they were banned at first in Australia, but it was solved by simply changing the drugs to use fictional names (Med-X, Jet, etc.). It seems it is not a problem if the game is not deemed to incentivize the use of real world drugs.

you can always buy the game from amazon and get it shipped over. do you really want a neutered version of CP2077?

Australian here and I'm pretty sure that I will be able to survive without the game being released here. Being able to pay rent and buy food being a bigger factor in my survivability. It's already getting very cold in Melbourne and I'm extremely grateful to not be homeless. Personally, I hope CDProjektRed shows the middle finger to our ratings board.

Game hasnt been rated yet but based off the reports from the private gameplay session the answer is likely no. Australia will not rate a game that depicts a benefit from drug use. If it does not have a classification it cannot be sold. We happy few cannot be sold here

Given some of the information about it, I question if it'll pass the ESRB in America. I'm pretty certain Aussies are screwed if they are not computer gamers with VPN access.

There was a video posted earlier that suggested some work-arounds, such as calling them fictitious drugs (med-x in Fallout used to be morphine), showing side effects (the game could include negative consequences such as OD or addiction), or making them not drugs (it's actually an inhalable coolant that allows you to temporary overclock your CPU allowing you to perceive time as moving slower, or run apps that you otherwise couldn't).

Australian here.
Considering they managed to get TW3 through with R18+ I think they should be able to manage it with CP 2077. Personally I'd be fine with R18+, I'm over 18, I don't have kids, and I game at home in my room with the blinds closed (heck I generally don't open my blinds anyway because I don't like the idea of my neighbours looking in on my general day to day existence.

i cant comment onm the drug use, but does anyone know if the Conan MMO got released in australia, what the rating was, and if it was censored? that would be a good starting point for the violence/sex/nudity.
