the next PlayStation is rumoured to use an AMD APU, so we cant expect to much from it performance, as long as the pc is the lead platform and the console don't compromise the quality of the pc version I'm fine with console player getting a piece of the pie.

Well, the A10 APU blows the magic smoke off the 1.6 GHz PowerPC Microsoft is using in the 720. That's 12-year-old technology, and it may not have been quite so crappy when it was brand new. PS4 and Xbox 720 are using the same graphics chipset. It's called 7670 on the PS4, but it's the same Turks GPU as the 6670 on the Xbox 720.

What will really determine the success of ports to these consoles is whether the console makers get their act together with software development kits.

The APU will be the processor, not the graphics chip. It'll be an AMD APU + an AMD GPU. The GPU hasn't been confirmed yet, but apparently both the PS4 and the next XBOX will have 7000-series GPUs, although that isn't saying much aside from the fact that they'll support DX11.1

Multiplatform doesnt mean every platform. For example it might be PC,720,and steambox but no PS4. Thing is i dont like Microsoft and im not spending a $1000 on steambox when i can get the same in fact better expierence on PC.But i also love SONY and when it comes to open world games and third-person games a console provides smoother gameplay.

And who said when PS4 is releasing (from Official Sources)?
Don't want to be rude but if this game was console only and someone at the Playstation or 360 forum would have requested a PC version, you and the community would have ripped him apart. I have a 360 and PS3 but the truth is that I only like playing racing, fighting games(all of which I think are for small Kids) on it. When it comes to FPS, RPG,.... it becomes really hard to play with a controller because this genre's were made when there was only PC.

well whatever GPU they end up having it will most likely be fairly low end otherwise it would drive up both the price the power and the heat.

And for your kind information open world games look more beautiful on PC then on consoles and the reason the quality of games are deteriorating is because of the consoles. My brother gifted me Skyrim on PS3 and I got fed up moving the joystick to caste spells on enemies. I exchanged it with a PC version and this is what it looks like on my PC.

I hope this solves your dilemma :)

I have played it on my PS3 and left it immediately. It's terrible and makes no sense and the community is full of kids. Even if it is released on PC I would not touch it.

The 6670/7670 (which both manufacturers are using) runs at 44W TDP. The tweaked versions AMD will make for them may be different. But neither is doing anything like a high-power GPU.

The AMD APU, with the on-chip 7660, allows Sony to do a "dual graphics" implementation. This doesn't make it the equal of even mid-range PC GPUs, but it's two horses to Microsoft's one, for about 110 watts total.

And no matter what the hardware is, both MS and Sony will invest a lot of money in encouraging you to think theirs is better, whereas the visual/aural results will of necessity be very, very similar.

The reason is that they want to make them affordable. I can clearly see that their aim is to increase sales and not the performance. They don't worry about the performance because they know that a non-techie guy will defiantly buy it. The way I predict the future, these consoles will destroy the meaning of games completely. I hate them.

I really don't see right now why it shouldn't. I mean, development for PS3 is said to be hell and it has cost Sony quite a bit of money in terms fewer licenses (TW being probably such a case). However, they might have learned their lesson and reach a better balance between ease of development and performance which would make it a feasible platform.

Furthermore, I agree with Kevin Levine when he says that multiplatform cannot be an afterthought. If a game is developed thinking about one platform and then ported, it is bound to look/feel worse than a true multiplatform development since project inception. For the usability standpoint, I don't see a huge difference in costs by having a different UI for instance for gamepads and mouse/keyboard, or support both to some degree at least.

Well, I guess you're in the right forum. :p

Sony and Microsoft have never had "low end" graphics chips in their consoles. They're low end now, sure, but they're also six years old. When both the 360 and PS3 launched, they had high end GPUs inside and they sold for a big loss they intended to recoup through game sales. I'm not saying the next consoles will have 7970s in them because there hasn't been any official word, but it's pretty tiring to see PC-only people look at consoles 5 years+ after their release and say consoles will always be low end and inferior. There's also the fact about optimization allowing for much higher quality than a PC running similar hardware since you only have to develop for one specific set of hardware so you can make the most of it.

I mean, I'm going to buy the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 because a keyboard just seems right for a cyberpunk-based game, but I'll probably buy the console port as well because sometimes I just want to sit in front of my TV screen with a controller and not worry about driver issues or splitting up resources with other tasks.

No, the PS3 GPU was definitely low end upon release.

Xbox 360 has a heavily modified 48-shader R600 GPU, available well before R600's were available in the PC market. It was quite an advanced GPU for its day; it still has some unique features that allow it to outperform PC GPUs of comparable size.

PS3 has a cut-down G70 GPU that uses shared memory, superior GPUs of the same architecture were already available in the PC market. In its day, it was already a cheap jellybean part, and it was made cheaper because Sony and nVidia stripped features from the original G70.

The GPU being used in both the Xbox 720 and the PS4 is already known, and it is known to be a low-end part that has already been on the market for two years.

There are so many conflicting reports regarding next gen, a couple of journos and one dev (NeoGaf forums) are saying games like Watch_Dogs, Star Wars 1313 and Agnis's Philosophy real time demo are what they are striving for. (Why would companies build such powerful engines knowing that next gen is going to be using years old tech?)

Supposedly, rumours floating around is that Microsoft are looking to use a variant of the AMD "Oland" HD Radeon 8800, even though it's not in retail yet. No one knows for sure, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Regarding the OP, it's not even debatable as to whether Cyberpunk 2077 will release on the NextBox, "PS4" and PC all at the same time.

Well, rumors and people who are reporting on actual existing hardware are two very different things. The "8000-series GPU" is a rumor. People who have seen actual specifications and hardware have seen 6670 and 7670 chips, which are both "Turks".

These are not demanding games, not Witcher 2 or Metro 2033 class, that they're talking about running at full resolution and speed. Demanding games will have to be cut down for the consoles. This should not come as a surprise.

As to whether there is to be a simultaneous release on three platforms, "not even debatable" = "no way unless that's what CDPR promises in so many words." Not something you read into vague statements.

I am not against consoles. They are really great for some genres. But remember the guys trying to sell these consoles are not gamers, they are businessman. A gamer likes to build his/her own system. I would have no problem with consoles if they were upgradable like a PC but no the companies can't , you know why ;)

Every company is run by businessmen. I love my GTX 670, but nvidia likes my money just as much as Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony do. :p
