will witcher 3 support new techs...

like leap motion and oculus rift?

such techs can be new horizons of gaming and offer lots of possibilities, i think a great game like tw 3 should support them.

Spatial and motion controllers might be interesting. Leap has such a small field of action that it's not necessarily ideal. You want some room to work with a two-hander in.

Any first-person display technology will require a lot of work to overcome sim sickness issues. This is a general problem with first-person and acrobatic player characters, not just this game.

They have already set an ambitious course with TW3. I'm not going to ding them just because they don't take advantage of additional new technologies at the same time.

I would imagine that they add Oculus Rift support, but I don't think something like leap motion would make a lot of sense.

I don't see CDPR supporting tech like Oculus Rift.

I don't think Oculus Rift is a good idea for a 3rd person rpg.

Personally I would love to see OC support for future CDP games. Cyberpunk for example.

Moderator: Listen up. We're not going to have discussion in that tone on these forums. I'm going to edit and delete some posts, and after that we're going to continue this discussion, decently and in order, without cursing and without personal attacks.

Though I think it's extremely decent of the Occulus Rift people to cater to the rather rare cyclopskin segment of gamers, I really can't see the benefit of playing with one, for the simple reason that I like to look at my keyboard and mouse ocassionally.

Still if CDPR wishes to implement this I would not raise any complaint, many people will buy the latest wave of gadgets and wish to use them as much as possible. Maybe the devs can even get some sponsorship money out of the Occulus Rift company for pioneering such a fledgling product.

I think as Yurtex mentions Oculus Rift would most likely require a first person perspective, and I don't think there's any compelling reason for CDPR to implement that... so most likely we won't see OR support either. Or does Oculus Rift work with 3rd person cameras as well?

The whole idea of Oculus Rift has "first person" written all over it, but there is indeed work on making it work well in third person; see vorpX

I'll play TW3 on Xbox One, so I am interested in kinect and voice command support. I hope TW3 will have them, and I'll be able to tell my horse what to do.

You accused another member of writing shit.

If you believe your words were decent and in order (and you have been told they were not), you may take up the matter with the moderators by PM.

Further discussion of moderator action in this thread is not invited.

At some point a developer has to ask: does this option help the gaming experience of this game? If the answer is yes, then they should implement it. But it doesn't make sense to do it for the sake of doing it, and it also doesn't make sense to do it to "give options" to the players. Options are not useful or appreciable when they don't enhance the game in a holistic sense.

The Witcher games are story-based choice and consequences games, and from my perspective it doesn't help the gaming experience to view it in FP with Oc Rift, or to have options to give voice commands to my horse.

I'd rather the Witcher 3 focus on giving us a great story-based open world experience, which is pretty rare itself.

Oh boy, the fuck happened in this thread...

Well anyway, I'm not really interested in those kind of accessories. There's nothing wrong with the current setup. My monitor serves its purpose already. I can't help but feel that an Oculus is a novelty thing for a niche crowd but not really something that's gonna change the way we play games. It feels a bit redundant. But I don't know, I haven't tried it.

I don't really like all the new gimmicks that are popping up but hey, if it works then great. And hopefully RED will take the time to implement the support for it. Or maybe a modder can do it.

Probably not hard to implement as Geralt calls all his horses Roach, so it would probably respond to that.

Moderator: Moderator instructions that a matter is closed to discussion do, in fact, mean the matter is closed to discussion, and further comment is grounds for intervention.

Anyway, I don’t really see Leap Motion being applicable as a controller for this sort of gameplay. Maybe that’s just because we haven’t seen big games designed around it yet but I’m not sure if it’s all that suitable for “traditional” gameplay in general. As for the Oculus Rift, I guess it would be nice to have official support for this although I’m not sure if the consumer version will already be available when The Witcher 3 is released. What’s the ETA on that?

i think leap motion or such technology will replace the mouse. mouse transfers movements of arm to computer, leap motion can do that too. the difference is one need touch, one doesn't. the problem for leap like devices are they require lots of process power.
i have a stereoscopic 3d monitor (best one), i am not satisfied with the 3d performance of it, i think a monitor can not provide necessary medium for 3d. we need a change.

Rift would be great for FPP games where you have to explore and explore so you can look at pretty flowers and pink rainbow.

Buy yourself better screen or graphic card instead. Stop dreaming.
