Windows 7 issues and solutions

this game uses only one core, the faster the core the betterwhat Phenom II X2 ? those are not way better than the old Athlon X2s anyway: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/default.aspx?p=32&p2=97[/QUOTE]Looks like it's tearing up a athlon x2 by 20 fps. And everything else. Are you looking at the page right?

Wow none of the mods know the answer to my statement earlier.
We have one -- count them, one -- tech volunteer, who's terribly overworked, helping people to get their games up and running. He's just a fan, like the rest of us, and has no way of knowing what equipment CDPR used while they were developing the game. If you want to know what equipment CDPR used, I suggest you write to CDPR. They're probably all busy making The Witcher 2, but at least you'd be asking the right person.
Sry I get a little out of hand sometimes. Everytime somebody makes a end all be all game there's always something seriously wrong with it. Thanks for the reply. And tell those witcher 2 guys to take out those quicktime events! Nobody likes them. Or have the option to turn them off. I'll make a new thread or something. Well nobody over the age of 15 that is. Same angle and action every single time.

Hello. I just bought the game off steam today and am having a strange problem. The game starts fine, opening FMV playing fine and looks amazing. I go to actually start the game, get the load screen, the it stays at the load screen. I can hear the dialogue and it sounds completely fine, but all I see is the loading screen. Game starts after the dialogue, everything runs great. After I beat the first group of thugs, the next dialogue scene starts, again it all sounds 100% fine, but I don't actually see the scene, just a frozen imagine of Geralt and the guy who is talking. After the scene, gameplay is fine again. So, yeah, dialogue scenes are not playing. Sound is fine, FMV's play fine (at least the opening one), and the gameplay works fine. Everything is up to date (game updated to 1.5 through steam, dirextX up to date, graphics drivers up to date). Running Windows 7 64-bit, Intel C2D E8500 @ 4.0GHz, 4 gigs of ram, and a GeForce 275. thanks for any help.

A friend of mine, who is currently without internet, asked me to post his question:If his game is the original version of The Witcher, upgraded to EE, then to version 1.4 and finally 1.5...Would an upgrade from Windows Vista Home Basic to Windows 7 allow him to carry on playing normally, or will problems arise? :peace:

Alright, against my advice, he tried it out and game's colors got messed-up... at least until he downloaded a Direct X update. Now, I'm happy to report, it works. So no problems here... none concerning the game that is, though now license issues came up. :DP.S. - All mods installed till that point had to be uninstalled and installed again to fix any bugs. :peace:

I have a problem with starting the game as I use windows 7 .When I choose the difficulty it starts loading and that's it - the game doesn't begin, just waitin' . ??? You can hear background music...

I have a problem running The Witcher on Windows 7 RTM Enterprise 64bit. After launching the game the game I get the Atari Logo, the intro movie will play and The Witcher splash screen will appear. After that it crashes and I get "The Witcher has stopped working" along with the check for a solution or close the program options. I have patch 1.4 and 1.5 installed, DirectX August 2009 and ATI drivers 9.9. My system has two 4870's running in crossfire so I also tried running without crossfire mode with the same results. Also I get the glove as a cursor when it first loads then it turns into a black rectangle. Any help will be appreciated. I am going to try and un-install and re-install now.EDIT: Well, after an uninstall, reboot, delete directories and a re-install plus 1.4 & 1.5 patch, its been running great.

Found it!(at least my problem). Seems windows7 is not always compatible with the security protection used in the Witcher. there's more info here:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproappcompat/thread/818cffec-7809-4724-ba7d-bc85024c0794and I was able to download the newest driver here:http://www.tagesprotection.com/main.htm and it all worked -- so far :D just thought I'd post this for anyone else who's seeing that issue.

Can anyone help ive loaded witcher enhanced on Windows 7 and the bloody thing keeps asking for admin rights. What i have tried is:
  • I am the administrator on the computer... doesnt work
  • Run compatibility for windows vista XP, and tried running it all as administraor... doesnt work
  • I have even tried disabling UAC like in vista but it only allows you to make it not notify you of problems
  • created another admin account... Doesnt damn well work!!!
what to do? This fraggin OS is driving me nuts please somebody give me a solution im running Win 7 Ultimate and I did a full install of the witcher

Thanks for expanding...BTW - A report: Several friends found that Windows 7 works wonders with The Witcher... smoothest run yet. Maybe I should consider upgrading? :hmmm:
