Sorry I don't know much about windows but I was trying to run this in windows virtual xp mode but I need to upgrade window 7 to professional and that is going to cost me 80$. I got the game as a gift two years ago and have never been able to run it since I never had a fast enough computer. Now I have one that is fast enough but it is in windows 7. Please can someone help?

The problem? For some reason, after installing the game, updating it with the patches, and the Director's Cut, I'm now getting a flashing "Check for Updates" whenever I start the Launcher.

I keep getting this error when I try to launch the game:"insufficient privileges: you must be an administrator when you run this application for the first time"I'm running Windows 7, Professional, and the game is on Version 1.4.5.1280, Enhanced edition. I have trie setting the properties to make it "run as admin" but it still gives me this error. Help.

hey,i just can't run this game. i played with the UAC modes, ran everything and anything as administrator... can't start version 1.0 or any other. yeah, patched as admin, too.weird thing is that there is never a final installation message. the progress bar just fills, the redistributables are installed and at some point the setup is gone. the files are there, though.patching to 1.5 works. game still won't run, though

Will this game run on Windows 7? I was having to reinstall the game and it went all the way through a pretty big portion and then gave me an error message that a driver was incompatible and the installation failed. It indicated the driver was involved with TagesSetup. Any info on a driver being from TagesSetup being incompatible with Windows 7?I'm running Win 7 Pro x64-bit.Thanks.

Here's a way to run Witcher on Windows 7 from polish part of forum:1. From here download and install tages protection driver (run installation as admin in Vista (or XP) comp. mode)2. In Witcher\System locate file witcher.exe. Right click->properties and check following options: run as admin, vista (or XP) comp. mode, disable visual themes and disable desktop compositions.PS Same properties apply to patches.

Okay, so here is my problem :I'm stuck in Act V in catacombs below Old Manor (en route to Javed's laboratory). I killed that beatiful koshchey, went further, killed some bad guys etc. and then I entered a room, where (according to the walkthrough that I checked so I could be sure I am not missing something) Azar Javed is supposed to appear and spawn those two mutant brothers to stop me. Problem is that Javed really appears here, but no diallogue or cutscene follows. Geralt is stuck, unable to move. I can't even access the menu via Esc button and have to shut down the game through Task Manager. can you try an older savegame? any mods ?

I've installed The Witcher EE without any problems whatsoever, and started playing the game. It seems to always crash just after the cutscene were I'm running up that tower/well, and some of the Salamandra fall to their death. Then you face 2 salamandra bandits and 2 archers, and that's where it crashes. Just a CTD.I have no idea why. I'm using W7 64bit, and my rig is well more than adequate to run the game. i ran pcwizard. there is no errlog.txt, though. i changed the compatibility options for witcher.exe and launcher.exe toWinXP SP 2 and disabled visual designs/desktop thingies. whenever i try to run either file the desktop changes to some basic color mode, some window appears for a ms and then it changes back to my usual design and that was that.weirdedit: ran everything "as admin". even register.exe
