Wishlist for 2.3 and beyond

+
As it appears to be that work on Cyberpunk 2077 is not yet finished, and that CDPR (with the help of Virtuos's team) is listening to user feedback.

So I thought to list my top 5 things needed for the game to be even more awesome than it's now.

Making consumable items like Food and Drinks more accessible in UI, changing the bonuses

1735981149514.png

Food and Drinks are generally considered things that aren't really impactful in gameplay. They should operate more than a mere 10% stamina boost for 15 min duration or anything similar. They should allow things like boosting your attributes by 1-2 points, for example Strength, or Agility or Cool, depending on item used. Maybe some drugs would have positive and negative stat effects, like altering your mind by -2 intelligence, while giving +3 Cool. This could help to boost any given build slightly. I think bonuses could have shorter life like lets say 5 minutes, in order to clear any given gang location

I find it rather odd that in a game where drugs are marketed in every street corner, V is incentivized to never use them. Of course drug use would have negatives similar to Witcher's Toxicity, where taking too much would cause a drain on your life and perhaps prevent or slow down regeneration speed.

Separation between death and unconscious

1735981197873.png

I think there should be stronger incentives to differentiate between these 2 options, for example, unconscious enemies should be able to recover fully to the point their health was before being unconscious. Unconscious targets would need an extra work to become tied in order to prevent them from escaping once they become conscious. This would still mean they start to moan and make movement back and forward, causing them to become easier to detect. Once detected, the ally can help them to recover, uncuffing the person. If target was looted, and weapon was extracted, this causes another behavior where target is going to the nearest chest or weapon storage to pick up another weapon.

There would have to be some tweaks to existing quests where limited amount of death is required for higher rewards. Also weapon mod to make weapons non-lethal is a bit strange mechanic in my opinion and should be looked at.

Trauma Team response and Quests

1735981216919.png

Taking out randomly generated civilians with higher status (rare event) causes Trauma Team to descend, and releasing evacuation, picking up the civilian to the rescue plane and leaving. I would imagine the mechanics for descending and lifting the plane would be similar as the mechanic for MaxTac summon, so that wouldn't likely be the hardest part. Hardest part would obviously be related to picking the civilian, like there not being enough room for trauma member to get in front and behind fallen civilian to raise them into stretcher before carrying them off. Maybe there could be a small dragging animation where civilian is moved from difficult position, or this is just simply lifted in some kind of ragdoll animation style from the ground to the stretcher.

This would be quite complicated to do in some aspects, but I think the reward of doing so would add a great deal of livelihood to the game. Perhaps making some kind of trigger if Trauma Team is visible on screen, that they wouldn't trigger 2nd Trauma to emerge, and potentially a cooldown trigger for this happening.

Another thing that got me exited was the aspect of having Trauma Team missions where you enter into AV, and take a flight into an event where tragedy has occurred, with an active shooting event going on, or maybe the target is alive and fighting for his life in some corner. Maybe target could be already unrecoverable as his/her organs were being removed by the Scavs. Maybe in that event you could choose to kill or have mercy on the doctor that removing the organs of the diseased victim. This could add a lot of interesting moments.

Here's a video of Mod that some guy just made:

But unlike in video, I don't think V should be performing recovery on the bodies, instead he should be hired for the purposes of helping to secure the area.

Minor activities and NCPD Scanner Hustles rework

1735981420868.png

These should be emerging events, not something that just happens to be all around the map all the time.

They should get reworked to not clutter the map UI (on top of missions with too high difficulty being hidden), so that these tasks would only emerge in lets say every 1-3 hours. This would give more incentive to take a look of the given mission if it just happens as a rare event, rather than just existing with no time-frame. If you fail to participate and are in a distance where game deems you too far to witness what would be happening in the area, the event would clear out, until V actually helps to clear the mission. After that happens these areas would be filled with normal crowds, walking around, eating, meditating etc (which I believe is already happening somewhat)

Map UI to have option for satellite view

1735981744850.png

This should be relatively easy to do, as game already briefly during the early days, when entering into map showed a brief view of the overall map without the black+red theme we see normally. This is already done by mods and it's a shame it's not possible to see the city in it's glory like it is normally. Should be relatively small work needed and would add a lot to the beauty of the city.

Extra, the obvious candidate

3D person view
This is already done by mods, and aside V's own movement looking strange in 3rd person, there really isn't too much strangeness. Most of the actions are already animated for 3rd person view, like V lifting up garage door, or sitting down, or resting, so I doubt there's too many animations that would have to be completely done from scratch.

There's obviously some issues with spaces where there might not be enough room for camera to zoom out, so camera would have to have free movement out of the walls but also only display the visible area around V rather than for example the room above. This would add challenges which I have strong believe is currently being looked on carefully and might be the biggest obstacle overall.

It's far more complex that it seems. It requires to have double animations to make it "clean" in FPS and TPS.
And that's the reason we don't see V, even with path tracing reflections, because FPS animations looks bad in TPS.
it's a problem for shadows too, but it's less noticeable.
And TPS animations don't work for FPS.

Having specific animation for shadows and reflections isn't perfect either, since it might not match what the player would expect. (the shadow/reflection of arms + weapon would not match the position of what the player see).

For specific animation like lifting up garage door, etc... , they probably used 3rd person animations, and reworked them (adjust camera distance and FOV, adjust arms, etc...), but the main problem are the basic animations (running, and weapons animations).

I have been thinking of something similar that I would love to see:

Continuing Fixer Gigs.

After all gigs have been completed (don’t know the technical details, perhaps per fixer and perhaps overall) would it be possible to make randomly generated fixer gigs appear at those locations were the first ones were set. These locations have obviously already been generated in detail, so there would not need to be a lot of work done in that regard. These gigs would obviously not be as intricate or detailed as the original gigs, but there could be a variety of theft/rescue/sabotage/NCPD missions generated with the property restocked with NPCs, item pick ups, access points reset, etc.

Something similar to this already happens with the Clean Cut clinic for the Gig Hippocratic Oath and the NCPD Suspected Criminal Organization Activity “No License, No Problem” in Watson/Northside. Just expanding it in a system that allows V to have ongoing gigs if it is desired.

More mini-games would be nice.

There are quite a number of new things i'd like to see, but they would be super unreasonable as they are just things like an expansion to the
Nomad sub-story with Panam Palmer(some type of continuation to beyond the border, the Aldecaldos, and what happens when or if they make it to Seattle Washington, etc)

Custom Playlist Feature

There's a lot of music in the game. It's a shame that we're stuck with just the radio stations and whatever songs that the specific station in question will play. It'd be awesome if we could make our own playlists from all songs in the game.

Stealth Melee Options

An entire playstyle is simply unsupported in the game as it currently stands. Melee weapons don't gain stealth damage bonuses. Melee attacks automatically cause the player to stand up (Thus losing stealth).

The latter can be fixed via mods, but it should be a thing in the actual game.

Improved Takedown System

Along the lines of the previous point... Takedowns are unnecessarily awkward, with the need to grab someone and then input the "Finish them off" command which adds a lot of annoyance and delay (When stealth is heavily reliant on speed to do things before being noticed)

The logical thing would be a simple button tap being an instant takedown (A la the unique input command used on the 2 guards by the AV in The Heist) and you hold it to grab the target instead. This can be taken further and enable a mechanic where if you execute a grappled enemy (Either lethally or non-lethally) you can hold down the button to pick up their body (If I recall correctly, this USED to be a perk in 1.0) enabling you to take them out and then instantly transition into moving their body to hide it.

Skill/Perk/Cyberware Rebalancing

Some things suck. Like, really bad. Notably, a lot of the things related to Optical Camo are just plain detrimental because of the asinine idea of having automatic activations still drain your usage (Such as the Perk that makes it active while stealth sprinting and the skill that makes it active while grappling)

Also the Projectile Launcher Cyberware is utter garboleum. Like, even fully upgraded with the Relic Perks it's just plain worse than a regular grenade (To say nothing about special grenades including Ozob's Nose). The damage is super low, the radius is practically 0 and to top it off the "Relic Perk" multi-shot fires off one by one so you're left standing there for 4 whole eternities while it goes off (Even with a full Tech/Body build that's a death sentence on Very Hard especially when the rockets are barely tickling anything)

I'd also be down for a full revamp of the Cool weapon lines. The gun line is pretty anti-synergistic with Sniper/Precision Rifles as is and the Thrown weapon line feels like it's trying to be a Reflex line outside of the absurd Stealth damage from thrown weapons... Feels like it makes more sense to merge the Thrown weapon line into the Blades line in Reflex making it a hybrid slashy/throwy line. Rework the current gun line in Cool into a pure Pistol/Revolver split line and then replace the Thrown line in Cool with a dedicated Sniper/Precision line.

More Iconic Weapons/Additional Cyberware

Something relatiively simple, but can provide a lot of extra gameplay via unique builds to play based around specific modifiers and abilites.

Especially if utilizing more involved mechanics such as Kereznikov or Optical Camo which have their own gameplay (Using mobility while aiming to trigger Kerez) or synergies (Several weapons have unique modifiers providing special effects during Optical Camo, extending its use from purely a stealth tool into a combat stim)

AUTOPILOT IN CARS
Autopilot in the game for autonomous driving from point A to B or on random streets and districts. The player relaxes and admires the city while listening to music - that would be great! This can be done as an elite function only for more expensive selected vehicles or an egalitarian function for all vehicles on the principle that even though the player does not drive the vehicle, he does so by default V.

I am almost 100h in my first playthough. Here is a list on what I wish for:
- Autopilot in cars so my car travels ony it's own to its destiny point while I am in it. It could also be a unique feature for the Delaware Taxi.
- Survival Mode with Hunger, thist and Sleep (Ignore if that is on the hardest difficulty already because I only play on normal and did not check hard)
- More buildings I can enter. I noticed a lot of open signs but the doors are closed
- maybe some sort of pickpocket mechanic. Just stealing credits from random npc's would be enough
- boats and planes
- more collectables ( taro cards are nice but I wish there was more to collect in the ingame world maybe like 120 hidden gerald dolls or something silly to collect )
- exploring cyberspace like in one of the main quests with the vodoo boys
- a mechanic to control of enemies would be cool even if it is only for a couply of seconds
- another real live car like the porsche

Those are some wishes / ideas I have

Will probably never happen, they already had difficulties to make PNJ driving "correctly" and there is still some bugs.
- Survival Mode with Hunger, thist and Sleep (Ignore if that is on the hardest difficulty already because I only play on normal and did not check hard)
Doesn't exist in any difficulty. And will never happen. (just doesn't fit the game)
- More buildings I can enter. I noticed a lot of open signs but the doors are closed
Devs already talked about that, and no, they can't make "a lot" of building opened, because of performances issues. The game was simply not designed for that (there is a loading in MegaBuildings, but you can't use this trick everywhere).
- maybe some sort of pickpocket mechanic. Just stealing credits from random npc's would be enough
I hope they add this to Cyberpunk 2, but totally useless in the current game (money isn't a problem at all, and gameplay of quest isn't designed around this mechanic, would be only for "immersion", not worth it).
- boats and planes
Will never happen. Even Mike Pondsmith told them to not include Flying vehicles. Maybe in the next episode, but not even sure.
- more collectables ( taro cards are nice but I wish there was more to collect in the ingame world maybe like 120 hidden gerald dolls or something silly to collect )
There is tons of hidden clothes/armors, I would prefer if they didn't show tarot cards and Cyberpsychos on the map.
- exploring cyberspace like in one of the main quests with the vodoo boys
Not happening, there is nothing to explore, all the cyberspace we see is closed area and only designed for quests/cinematic.
Maybe they'll find a good idea for Cyberpunk 2.

- a mechanic to control of enemies would be cool even if it is only for a couply of seconds
Not happening, too much work to make it "clean": check that the camera isn't clipping with any clothes, first person animations might not be compatible with enemy's skeleton, ...

- another real live car like the porsche
Probably not happening, I doubt any brand would be interested in a 5 years old game.

I know this is a very fringe hope/request but...

Head Tracking Support.
I use a Tobii Eye/head tracker for multiple First Person games and its insanely good for its immersion. I can only imagine how cool driving in first person would be if i can look around by just moving my head.

There used to be a mod that got it to work but that no longer works. PLEASE make this happen CDPR. Please.

I think they'll add mod support to console. The witcher 3 is getting it

I'm on my 230hour playthrough and mods would be appreciated

Yes, please. There's a pretty good mod for it, but having it in the game for everybody would be much better. The mod uses the autodrive function already built into the game, so it wouldn't be a big effort for the devs.

Make the NUSA Infiltrator and other cosmetics droppable, I missed out on the Jacket and its the only thing missing from my set

I'm really hoping for custom radio channels, all gun attachments getting tier 5 versions, the database for purchasable car color schemes being expanded to all options, & it would be really nice if we could disassemble from all inventory management screens (shops, stash & a dissemble option as an alternative to picking stuff up from the ground we only intend to dissemble) would really lesson the tedium of being in one inventory management screen & then going to another whenever I want to disassemble something.

I really want to see more of those spontaneous car shootout battles between gangs that were inspired by the opening tragedy in the Edgerunners Anime, those battles are pretty cool & immersive but I haven't seen one in months, personally I think they should have a high chance of happening with 30 minutes of loading in with the chance of a repeat during the same "load" session being rather low.

I'm 230 hours in the game, and I just want new game+. I completed all the Fixer missions, got all the iconic weapons, I regret selecting dialogue choices when I went in blind and I missed the secret ending, I missed saving Takamura, I punched Fingers, and I picked up Quest items and missed out on vehicles the first time around. No opportunity to get them again in my game. The choices I selected locked me out of being a completionist. New Game+ will give me the opportunity to select the choices I want for my personalized save without the tedious grinding.

The only two things that bother me about the game is all the outfits NPC's wear that are unobtainable for V, and I would like to see more indoor explorable locations, like all the clubs and hotels or even mundane things like grocery stores. I don't even really care if there's anything important about them, I just like walking around the city and exploring things. There's much to look at, but some doors not opening is a shame.

Reflecting V important actions in the TV news

Commenting on V's more important actions in which he participated or which concern him (those on a city-wide scale, not minor ones) in the news. For example, there's a shooting in a specific district - if the scale is appropriate, the TV news includes a story about it (quite general, but personalized enough that the player can connect the news to V's actions). "A bloody shooting occurred in the Watson district. There are fatalities. Police have secured the area and are investigating. Please be careful in this part of the city." Something like that. It's small, but it's satisfying and significantly increases immersion.

These should be emerging events, not something that just happens to be all around the map all the time.
AGREED! If they appear gradually (Similar to the gigs) it would make the game even more alive.

Reflecting V important actions in the TV news
This is already in the game. Specially in the game's radio, certain hosts (mostly Sasha Grey (since 2.0) and Maximum Mike) will comment on the actions that V has done in certain gigs. However since 2.0 there's been an issue with the radio hosts (except for Sasha grey's character) not showing up as much, so that's why you don't hear about your V's actions.

To be fair, NOT doing this can also be immersive in its own way.

Like, the general idea is that this is a dystopian future where individual lives are meaningless, with violence and death being commonplace.

Meaning having large scale firefights with high death tolls not make it to the media reports because such a thing happens so frequently it's no longer a noteworthy event, adds to that dystopian theme.

That said, some things do make it to the media. I remember seeing reports about the AV going down after doing Panam's mission on the TV (As well as radio reports about the EMP used during the mission) and vaguely recall some other missions triggering reports though I don't spend a lot of time around TV's - Only being near them when using elevators...
