Witcher 1 Adventures or Witcher 2

Hi guys,

I was very late to start witcher series, but to cover this, I had purchased witcher 1 to start the series from the beginning (enhanced edition) and at the same time, I purchased witcher 2 premium edition. Yesterday I finished witcher 1, and now I'm undecided about one matter. Should I start witcher 2 right ahead or play witcher 1 adventures (DLCs) first? Do you think it worths to play DLCs of Witcher 1 or jump into Witcher 2?

Thanks!

Well, I'd be too eager to jump into TW2 but if you feel like checking out some adventures then do so! They are nice. Going back to TW1 after TW2 may be harder because the graphics looks old but it's not impossible in any way. I, too, plan to play some community-made adventures soon.

It's up to you...?

But if you liked the first game in regards to mechanics, graphics and stuff like that - then why not give the DLCs of that game a go before jumping into TW2? :)

The Witcher 1 extra mods, adventures, add-ons or however you want to call them, are unrelated to the central story of both TW1 and TW2. Most of them are fan-made mods with their own self-contained story. The two official add-ons may add to your general knowledge of The Witcher world, but have nothing to do with the main saga. Also you may be able to play through each of these add-ons in a matter of a few hours, so it's not really going to delay you from playing TW2 much.

If you want to side-step from the saga for a bit and play some extra content, play the add-ons now. If you really want to continue playing the saga, then play TW2. You may take occassional breaks from TW2 and play the TW1 add-ons too, depending on your time availability :)

I'd play the Price of Neutrality it's very similar to one of the short stories in the books(or so I've read in the wiki). I played Side Effects and it wasn't fun or memorable at all.

Thanks so much for your responses. Given my limited available time and your responses, I would best to jump into Witcher 2.

Thank you again, by the way, I should also thanks to CD Project and Atari (for the first game), afterall that masterpiece was their doing :)

I'm sure the second game will be another masterpiece, that's why I'm very excited to start. Honestly guys only if you would have said I must play the DLCs first I would delay witcher 2, and now I'm happy to see that you did not say so :)

Actually, I think guipit is right. Give Price of Neutrality a try since you own it anyway. It's pretty short--just a few hours. It has a few plot points related to some of the short stories that CDPR couldn't address in the main games, and you will meet a new character who plays a significant role in TW2. You would still understand TW2 without playing PoN, but it's a nice transition, and it adds to the lore in a nice way. Side Effects is decent but unremarkable. Save it and the other adventures for later.

Yes, it is very similar to The Lesser Evil (one of the short stories in The Last Wish). I played the game first and then this path month or so I read the books that are in English. When I finished reading The Lesser Evil I had to go back and check what the name of the character was in Price of Neutrality :p It was close enough that I wasn't sure if it was meant to be an adaptation or simply a new story inspired by the short story. However the names are indeed different so I think it's merely inspired by the story :)

Anyway, I think Price of Neutrality definitely has a better story than Side Effects, but I enjoyed the gameplay in Side Effects more (PoN was mostly just combat, whereas Side Effects had a lot of running around town gathering loot which I prefer :p).

@Syron7 i think u should play price of neutrality. You get to meet someone there that will appear in TW2.... :)

Its such a good adventure, its very short, so it wont take you long! Make sure to put in to dodge +20% talent. It will make the adventure far far easier in combat sense.
