Witcher 2 Arena Dark Mode Guides.

Three videos I made of the Arena on Dark Mode, waves 1-18. Will make vids with the other waves soon enough. I had already done vids for the first 30 waves of the arena, but the channel I posted those on got taken down, so redoing them

I know there is another thread about the Arena, but what's the point of having a Witcher 2 Arena video thread if the OP doesn't make a list of the vids posted in the thread for everyone to see?

So link your Witcher 2 Arena vids and I'll put em here as a list in the first post, though I'll not be able to embed them all ( forum limits and all )

My FPS will kill me, most certainly, but as soon as I finish my first Dark Mode run I'm on to it.

Thanks you, Costin for you guide! =)

Ha! Just 2nd day of Arena playing and already managed to get to 516 :) If i hadn't had to leave for work, then who knows how much more I would make. In general, the rule from campaing is true in arena as well - after Geralt hits level 15 stuff starts to get easier. I do use a different build than you do, and different potions. Maybe i'll try your way after work today.

1L of Coca Cola, a pack of cigarretes, a lot of cursing and swearing and re-playing ...

Getting serious, I play Dark Mode, the majority of times I die and need to restart are the first 13 waves (i try to rush it to much or get cocky) - after the first Bruxa&Wrights fight it usually goes downhill for me. I have the most trouble with mage/elite kingslayer fights. I won't make a video, as that would be redundant, but in general here's how I approach arena:

-=TACTIC:
1) When fighting sentient humanoids I alway use this pattern -> quen, immidieatly dispose of archers (or mages) as they are a priority target; then i do this: Axii the strongest enemy left, Aard remaining ones from the edge while doing "slash & roll behind" (repeat) tactic. Whenever quen drops, I just run away till I regain full vigor and I repeat the process.
2) Whenever possible, I take the dwarf or the knight to aid me - they draw targets, work as a distraction for me.
3) As soon as possible i use the swallow, virga and +20% vigor regen potion. Whenever possible i apply appropriate oils before combat.
4) Whenever I can afford, I buy fire bombs(nekkers, zombies, corpse eaters)or stun bombs (humanoids) + the freeze trap (big monsters, monsters immune to fire/stun)

-=GERALT: skills + order I take them in
2. Vigor Regeneration 3. Parrying 4. Fortitude 5. Fortitude(2) 6. Vigor Regeneration(2) 7. Parrying (2) 8. Feet work 9. Destructive Magic 10. Enhanced Quen Sign 11 Enhanced Quen Sign (2) 12. Destructive Magic (2) 13. Feet work (2) 14. Position 15. Violence 16. Whirl 17. Hardy 18. Finesse 19. Invincible 20. Combat acumen 21. Whirlwind 22. Combat acumen (2) 23. Invincible (2) ... and I suicided by gargoyle about here afair

That's about it. Hope it helps you.

Today I had to do myself "suicide by gargoyle" as I was near running late to work, otherwise I'd win it...

EDIT: 3rd day. after dying about a dozen times during the first 12 fights, i managed to get to the golems/gargoyle one :)

UPDATE: 4th day - made it from 300 to 171 :> after a CTD on dark mode i went into hard, got to about fight 38 on this. Do you still play Arena, Not_Slimgrin?

A tactic against werewolves would certainly come in handy. I'm tired how these jerks make the gameplay a lottery for me; one slip up and you're a goner at that level. I admit, it's much easier at the first fight, where you can take one or two of them out before your dwarf bites the dust, but when they add the nekkers? Nah-uh, with four of them assaulting you, it's more like a fifty-fifty chance, no matter how I go about it. Honestly, I consider Fire Elementals and Gargoyles an easier fight, because they're much more predictable, unlike the damned, fast as lightning werewolves, god dammit.

Occasionally, but lately something's broke in the registry and I can't get it to upload my scores. I've tried mutliple solutions but no luck.

It really does feel like it's all a gamble. My advice would be learn their attack pattern. When they attack, you wait for half a second then you attack them, as they usually leave an opening which you can exploit. I assume you're thinking of the rounds with multiple werewolves. Those are some of the hardest without a doubt. A lot of patience is required to get past those.

I somewhat have a basic understanding of how they work, but sometimes it's very hard to break their pattern.
They begin to block your every attack, and it feels like they're completely invulnerable, because you simply cannot find the opening due to three other werewolves charging at you.

My current tactic against them is to pack as much damage as possible, make sure all of them are close enough to avoid their strongest charge, and hope for the best when I'm swinging at them. In truth, it does work quite well when I have each werewolf go down after three hits from behind, but when they get an HP boost, it becomes so much more difficult.

I will consider your advice, though. Usually, I just waited until after they swung their claws aimlessly, and only then attacked them from behind. Perhaps, it'd be wiser to try and go at them while they're at it instead.

perhaps someone would be so kind as to enlighten me; why is there such a huge gap in points; between the pc leaderboards, & the 360 ones? the leaders on the xbox version have alot less total points.

(example, im ranked like 1200 something on the '360 boards, hovering somewhere around 13k points, whereas the pc version, someone ranked in a similar position has like 30k points, in retrospect. is there different scoring criteria or something?)

the bruxae, wraith, & shadow knight round makes the werewolf fight look like a day @ doggie daycare.
