Witcher 2 EE Launcher Crash on Steam first launch

Hi,

I recently bought the Witcher 2 on steam, and upon trying to run it the first time i immediately had the launcher crash along with some of this error text:

I have tried several things to try and fix it but nothing has worked so far.

I've tried:
reinstalling the game
verifying the cache (it once said 175 files were missing, another time only 1)
running steam as admin and installing/running the game
running launcher.exe, witcher2.exe as admin
the .net 4 hotfix posted in these forums

Whenever the game does its first time install thing, whenever it starts with directx an error comes from directx stating that I don't have the .net 4 framework installed (when I do).

I also at one point got the witcher2.exe to run but a window never showed up. I could see the game running in the processes tab though.

Have I missed anything? Thank you in advance for the help and tips

I don't know why, but today when I started up witcher 2 to continue playing this awesome game, and the launcher appears, then it says that The Witcher 2 Launcher Application has stopped working.

I forgot to mention that I use the Steam version of the game.

1. Run Steam in offline mode.
2. Disable network interfaces in the control panel.
3. Run the game

IT WILL WORK. ACHIEVEMENTS WILL BE CONFERRED when you next go online.

I think so. Since I have Steam,when I saw it downloading files for the Witcher 2 I just assumed that it was downloading the latest version.

Yes, I just made sure that I updated it to Version 3.2.

Hello! The same is with me. Today I've been installed patches 3.1 and 3.2. After that the game began to crush each time I tried to launch it.

I have the exact same problem. Cant start Witcher 2 and i havent done anything special today. Just gets The Witcher 2 Launcher application has stopped working.

Although i can start the game via witcher2.exe

How do you start the game via witcher2.exe? I've always just started it through Steam.

I can open the game through that, but I can't access Steam, and I can't load any of my saved games. It sort of pisses me off, since I'm already pretty far in the game.

I already filled out a technical support form. I'm happy that people have attempted to answer my problem so quickly though.

I've got the same problem. Played Witcher 2 and left the game for dinner. When tried to start the game afterwards, the launcher throws exactly the error the thread starter describes.

Got same issue. Been playing fine for few days but now when i try to start the game launcher crashes .

Same problem here, bought the game yesterday on Steam and wanted to play it for the first time now... and I can't... also launching it direct through witcher2.exe gives me the same problem.

Well, at least it is reassuring that I am not the only one with the problem... I am sure it'll be fixed soon!

Have the same problem! I started it earlier today (in the morning) and it worked fine, now after I got home from work it will crash either way (steam or witcher2.exe) with "The Witcher Launcher Application..." error.

Weirdest thing of all is that I don't even have a clue why since I haven't noticed any patching progress on my PC today.

same here but with the GOG ver of the game was working fine the just started erroring out

Same problem here too. I guess the problem is with The Wicher's community. I cannot connect to the community via launcher. Maybe this is why it's crashing?
