Witcher 2 EE Launcher Crash on Steam first launch

You need the launcher for 2 main things: starting the game and changing the game settings. So advising people how to change the settings is just as relevant as telling people how to start the game without the launcher.

Our point is to attract attention to get this error fixed, it hasn't just broken the launcher, people using steam cloud for saving have no access to saves, even if they do a work around, they have no saved games.

As is my case.

Well i just tried my launcher and it seems to be fixed.

There was an issue on the server side which should now be fixed. Check if your Launcher.exe works fine now. I see some of you already verified the issue as fixed .

I don't know why, but today when I started up witcher 2 to continue playing this awesome game, and the launcher appears, then it says that The Witcher 2 Launcher Application has stopped working.

I forgot to mention that I use the Steam version of the game.

EDITED BY MODERATOR : Temporary Solution

1. Run Steam in offline mode.
2. Disable network interfaces in the control panel.
3. Run the game

IT WILL WORK. ACHIEVEMENTS WILL BE CONFERRED when you next go online.

Launcher works fine now, thanks.

Is it possible to elaborate, why a miscommunication between client (launcher) and server causes the client to crash and become unusable? Instead of giving an error like, "Bad server reply! Version check unavailable.", and working without the broken functionality?
