Witcher 2 EE Launcher Crash on Steam first launch

Is it possible, that there's some problem with - and bad handling of - connecting to the server which is used for update/version check?

Seem's that this bug suddenly appeared for quite a few people and I don't see the launcher establishing a connection. Alas I have to say, that this is a wild guess on my part.

Well, before it started to crash, I tried to register the game. My letters and type didn't even register into the field. And it works everywhere else...

I'm having the same issue. It worked fine last night, techincally this morning. Now it's i'm getting the error. using the steam Version

Getting the same problem as well. Was playing the game earlier just fine. Stopped to eat lunch, tried to play it and I'm getting the message as well.

I'm running the Steam version of the game.

Hello, today I started getting the same error as you guys. What is going on? Maybe the launcher can't connect to their server?

Same error here, it started appearing today and no solution so far - redownloading the game in the meanwhile though...
Running it from the executable didn't hit it either btw...

Reinstalling the game didn't solve the issue for me. However, the game does work when I start the witcher2.exe.

I am getting the same disconnection error and I did not get the game through Steam

using the Witcher2.exe directly seems to launch the game OK

I also just tried the Arena and I can't upload my results, so their server must be down.

I tried the the .EXE file with the Steam version and it still starts the Launcher and I keep the same error. Maybe the .EXE file might work with non-Steam versions.

Actually I can see and load my save files when I start the game from witcher2.exe. I have the GOG version.

Alright, then revised.

If you want to just play witcher 2 without any saved files and you bought it off of steam, Witcher2.exe.

If you have GoG then you can apparently access your saved files from the same file.

I can't launch from witcher2.exe since it would still load the launcher and thus resulting in the same error.

I stopped playing TW2 because I had issues with slow mouse control and bad performance. (had to scale the game down to lowes settings possible) And today I decided to check how TW2 works after the last few patches and it worked fine with high settings + higher resolution. Now I just can't wait to finally play it. =)

Well then IDK. Like I said, our solution isn't really good XD.
I myself can just directly launch the game, but with no save and no Steam.

I'm getting the same thing too.
Literally just made an account here after I saw alot of people were having the same issue as I am. I apparently don't even have a "witcher2.exe" file when I try to Run it. =/
I only have the Launcher and that's doing feck all. I'm on the latest patch, running it as an Admin, repaired .NET 4 and no luck yet again. Restarted more than half a dozen times to ensure everything was running smoothly.

I installed the game through Steam on Monday, played it that evening and was about 6 hours in. Everything worked beautifully and I had no issues whatsoever.
And now, like everyone else, I can't even get to the main menu.
