Witcher 2 EE Launcher Crash on Steam first launch

Relax fellas i`m in the same boat as the rest of you with launcher has stopped working . Witcher2exe located in the Witcher 2/bin folder works just fine though .

For Steam users regardless of whether you use the launcher or the witcher2exe it will throw you back to the launcher and has been that way from day 1 so in order to play the game you will HAVE to go offline in order to play .

I`m sure CDPR is aware of the problem but i`ll send a PM to ensure that they know .

Go to your install directory or wherever you installed the game to . Now open the Witcher 2 folder and then open the bin folder and locate the witcher2exe and right click and send to desktop then run the game from the new shortcut .
If the install was default then it should be here
C:\Program Files\Witcher 2\bin
64 bit systems would be
C:\Program Files (X86)\Witcher 2\bin

No dice.... What I have in bin just says Witcher2, application (with the icon next to it), I open it any different way and an error comes up saying it failed to -whatever- copy to desktop and same thing. I didn't see any file called witcher2.exe in bin or anywhere but I assume that the one I've tried is it...

If I play Witcher 2 on Steam in offline mode, are achievements still activated if completed? I kind of enjoy stumbling across those

Same here, Cutout ... nothing I can do works to play it on Steam. Very, very annoying ...

Looks to be when the launcher connects to the server or something. When it crashes it still has the skull for no connection in the top left.

Try installing http://www.gamefront.com/files/21736927/The_Witcher_2__Enhanced_Edition_v3_1_Patch 3.1 patch and running witcher.exe IT worked for me

Hate to sound like a broken record but I am receiving the same issue. Sigh, I guess I can try and read the book in the mean time

I have the same issue, doesn't work when going to the .exe file either. I was able to get it to run by disconnecting from the internet and then running the .exe file. I reconnected after the game loaded up and haven't run into an issue so far.

Weird i had no issues earlier. Now i do. Anyways you can go to Local Disk C(or what ever drive it is installed on) then program files (x86) The witcher 2 , then open the file folder bin (first for me) and then scroll down till you see the Witcher icon (file size will be the largest in the folder mine is 14,714 kb) press on that icon and then it will load. this is with windows 7 64 non steam copy!!

You can just open it using the Witcher2.exe file, but you'll lose all of your saves and if you bought it off of steam you wont be able to get the steam community.

I've been back and forth on here all day and that's the best you can do. Or, if you have steam, you can launch it via "Offline Mode", with no saves if you were using the Steam Cloud for your saves. Yeah, our solutions sort of suck.

Still not working I've tried everything mentioned in this forum
