Did the same thing for a couple of hours, decided to check the forums to see if there was a recent issue with it. I'm glad I wasn't the only one.yahtzee466 said:This is a recent problem correct? When I searched the problem on stesm's support forums all I found was posts from like 2011. I tried basically all the "fixes", Reinstalling Microsoft .NET,Renaming the Redist file, ECT. But sadly to no avail, My game still ceases to work. It was my last purchase on the steam summer sale. RATS! It is comforting to know that this is a somewhat recent problem.

1. Run Steam in offline mode.
2. Disable network interfaces in the control panel.
3. Run the game
