Witcher 2 EE Stopped working error on startup

I recently got TW2 EE on steam and I'm getting the error "stopped working" after I launch the game from launcher.

Here are my specs and a list of things i've already tried:

Specs:
Fx 8350 @ 4.5ghz
M5A99FX Pro 2.0
Gskill 1866mhz 16gb Ram
XFX HD 7950 oc'd Catalyst 13.10Beta2
Creative sound blaster - Z
2560x1440 monitor
Samsung 840 Evo SSD
Windows 8 x64 Pro

Steps taken (in no particular order): - nothing worked
1. Installed GOG copy - still gives same error, only now its "changelist 1 has stopped working" instead of "witcher 2 has stopped working".
2. Updated dotnet, activated dotnet 3.5, installed all updates
3. Reinstalled windows
4. Used witcher regfix and dotnet fix.
5. Downgraded game version
6. Downgraded video driver to WHQL version
7. Decreased desktop resolution
8. decreased game startup res and windowed mode
9. run game in compatibility mode
10. run game with only system services at startup
11. run game directly from game exe
12. run chkdisk

and a few more things which I can't remember.

This is very frustrating, I built a new system to play some more demanding games and it's really frustrating not being able to play this game which I bought.

Any help would be appreciated

Are you importing a save from Witcher 1 ? If so then that could be a problem , especially if the save is somehow corrupted .

I went through the software list and I don't have any of them installed. The only AV i have is defender which I already tried disabling and running with no luck.

Also, I tried with no previous save and it still gives the same issue..

I already tried the hotfix.. the only difference it makes is that instead of "changelist: 1 has stopped working", I get changelist: 2 has stopped working error".

I will PM you list of software but I doubt it's anything in that because I had tried this game right after the fresh windows 8 install before installing other stuff... and I've even tried it after safe boot with everything except system services and it still gave the same error.

I didn`t see anything related to any .NET install . I know that .NET 4.5 comes with 8 and I wonder if it`s enabled . http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2765375

Well I finally figured out what the problem was.. it was MSI afterburner and it's rivatuner statistics server..

closing both resulted in the game launching normally and working..

Is it a beta version of Afterburner ? There was an issue with Witcher 1 and EVGA Precision beta that was causing the game to show half swords in the character screen as well as nothing in inventory . I am currently using Afterburner 2.3.1 with no issues at all .

You should be ok with Afterburner 2.3.1 . It may also be a good idea to report your bug with the Afterburner team to let them know .
