What is your hardware and operating system / drivers? That can be useful for any kind of troubleshooting.

You can try the registry fix . Follow the link and click witcher 2 then scroll down to #26 and download and run the fix but pay special attention to the path .

Just make sure that Witcher 2 is the last entry .
For example if you have Steam installed to the default location it would be this for your path
C:\Program Files (X86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Witcher 2

Well I install the registry at this path.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\the witcher 2\Program Files (x86)
It didnt solve the problem i still have the same issue.
Just one question does the name of the file does affect at all ? Cause i had one game that they ask me to change the name of the file. Meaning changing the witcher 2 to Witcher 2.

Did you rerun the registry installer to include the correct path ?
C:\Program Files(X86)\Steam\steamapps\common\the witcher 2
You can also try the backup copy from GOG using your Steam key . http://www.gog.com/witcher/backup

Hello. Well i did that and now i did enter the correct path and nothing change. I will like to use the backup copy from GOG using my steam key. I think that could help me in this situation. Maybe as a last resort really. The problem is that they have disabled the cd keys for the weekend for the weekend trial, I was wondering if you could help to get my cd key and then redeem it.

I don`t have access to my Steam key either . I guess it should be available later today or tomorrow . Going to the witcher 2 exe won`t do any good either as it just kicks you back to the launcher .

Did you try running both Steam and The witcher 2 as admin ?
To run Steam as admin . Exit Steam then from the Start button click all programs and scroll to Steam and expand then right click the Steam icon and select run as admin . Once done and Steam starts then open Steam\steamapps\common\the witcher 2\bin and find the witcher 2 exe and right click and run as admin .

What happens when you tried the GOG version ? Did you let it verify the files before installing ?

When you start the GOG installer it should go through a verification process . That`s to ensure that you have all necessary files before it installs the game . If any files are missing it will notify you of missing files . Also if if you want to then take screenshots of your installed programs and email them to me . It`s possible that you might have some software that is keeping the game from running .

Well it didnt mention any files weere missing during the installation progress. I made sure i was able to get all the files from GOG website. Of course i can send you a screenshot of my programs. I have a lot of unused programs so maybe one of those could stop it from running. I wouldn't be surpsrised cause this is the second game i have an issue like this.
