Witcher 2 - REDkit on Steam Workshop?

Hello people of Witcher 2 Forums! I thought id discuss about Witcher 2's REDkit on Steam Workshop, would you like it, yes, no and why would it be so? I'd personally love this idea and I see it as why not. Even thought it's not Steam Only on PC, I'd like to see it the way they did with Grimrock, since majority of players is on Steam, and truly good mods are released separately aswell, I think this could turn out very well, please tell me your thoughts about this! :D

I doubt that. I don't have any solid data at hand, but I don't think that the majority of TW2-players uses the Steam version. It would also break my heart a little, if even though CDPR went to some trouble to provide the game completely DRM-free, the majority would have chosen the most restrictive DRM version available for TW2.

I don't think it's a good idea. Why? Because as late as the REDkit is released, the number of modders and people interested in mods will not be overwhelming, I guess. So the modding community will be rather small and I'd rather they'd gather in one place (probably the Nexus) than splitting up to Steam, Nexus, and whatnot.
A Pro of using Steam Workshop is that they'd probably get an appearance in the Steam Shop with "Now available with mod tools REDkit and Steam Workshop!", maybe combined with a Steam Deal. That will probably get some additional attention, but I'm not sure it's worth splitting up for it.

It's not necessary, but it wouldn't hurt either.

When TW2 did hit million of sold copies, they also released data that 250k of copies sold digitally and 190k of digital copies were sold on steam. So no, majority of players is not on Steam.

CDPR said that they are thinking about their own solution/platform for TW2 mods, but they didn't say anything definitive.

For me all mods should be in one place, so I'm against Steam Workshop.

Doesn't steam workshop means the game will have steam DRM?

And I believe Nexus is superior in terms of downloading and uploading

A mod in the Steam Workshop isn't bind to Steam, it can also be available everywhere else.

Yoyo welcome to the Witcher forums!

And yeah, absolutely. I think it was make the process of installing and managing mods a lot smoother. It also ensures reliability, in the case you reformat your computer but forget to make a back up of all the mods you have. Finding all of them again can be a chore so it'd be nice to have a plan-B.

So yeah, why not! :)

It wouldn't hurt to be available in multiple places, just that what is already addressed of modders uploading them. I would personally favour nexus as most here, I guess.

Imagine situation that someone bought game on GOG because he listened to CDPR and wanted to fully support them. So he has this game on GOG and finds out that there is small mod for something that he really wanted on Steam Workshop and nowhere else. Imagine how pissed of he would be - "I supported you as you asked and this is how you support me... Screw you CDPR!"

Steam Workshop is terrible. We already have a Nexus site that is quite nice: The Witcher Nexus
