Witcher 2 storyline a continuation of Witcher 1?

I ask this because in the Witcher 2 bio for Triss it says "After the attempt on the life of King Foltest, Triss and Geralt once again work together." This assassination attempt on Foltest was shown in the epilogue cutscene for The Witcher. So the events of The Witcher 2 may be soon after The Witcher? This also begs the question: what happened to Shani? In The Witcher, I chose Shani as Geralt's beloved. I guess Geralt got tired of being tied down and got the wanderlust bug again. And I guess, Geralt never got over Triss! I really loved The Witcher's complex and convoluted storyline, much better than Oblivion's or Dragon Age: Origin's storylines. Here's hoping the same adult and mature themes return!

Welcome to the community xmojo.1. Yes, TW2 storyline is a continuation of TW12. What happened to Shani is anyone's guess. I'll just point out that at the end of TW1, Geralt is seen leaving Vizima alone. Even in Act 4, he says he has no right to endanger lives of people he loves by trying to make his dream of a family come real (after Alvin gets attacked by the devourer/wraith). As such (my theory) is that at the end of TW1, he's still alone, with neither Triss nor Shani. He meets Triss accidentally (or maybe she follows him or is acting on someone's orders) and they meet again. I'm sure I posted it in another thread. But I'm too lazy to go looking for the link. So I typed it out again.3. As to the point where you say "Geralt never really got over Triss" I advise/implore/beg you to read the books the game is based on. You'll see how incorrect that statement really is.4. I'm glad you place TW above DAO. We witchers are a dying race, while the ranks of Grey Wardens swell in number. It's great to see yet another recruit . :)

Um, no. TW ONE takes place five years after Sapkowski's books end. TW 2 takes place two months after TW1 ends. This information -- and LOTS more -- was compiled into an FAQ about TW 2 by the wonderful Szypek26; you can find it here.

No problem -- everybody makes mistakes, even if they aren't studying agronomy. :) I corrected what you said so that misinformation wouldn't spread, not to blame you or anything.
