Witcher 3 looks really interesting I am avoiding any story related news!

More Witcher 3 sale copies better future games will be. I am afraid since they are using their own resources to fund the development they might be playing it safe with some new in-game ideas.

I defo getting it on PC and maybe on PS4.

Whereas if it was externally funded the worry would be producer-influenced and thus, no new in-game ideas....

Can't win for losing, eh?

CDPR calls the shots - it's a lot better than, say, EA or Bethesda doing so.

Let's imagine a CP2077 or Witcher game with that kind of overlook.

I really wish them all the best with TW3. First next-gen game if you can call it that. Hope they sell bricks loads of copies.

Wonder what new IP's they might be thinking of after CP2077 and Witcher 3.

I have no doubt in my mind they will sell well on all platforms.. I'm saying this for both Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. They make great RPG games, they listen to their fans and they deserve every cent they get.

Good interview, pretty in depth.

Indeed. A choice between Triss and Yennefer. Since Yennefer hasn't featured in the games, I'd guess they have to really emphasise her in this one.

"We have no such thing as bosses in our game". "This also means no QTE gameplay that detracts from what people should expect from a deep RPG."

I really hope these sentiments make it to not only CP2077, but every game I enjoy, well, forever.

"Now it’s much more tactical, because picking the right strategy against a vicious opponent or group of foes can end the fight quite fast, while using the wrong strategy may end with death."

We'll see. They are steadily evolving their combat, so I have hope. He kind of dodged around the Dark Souls reference , though.

Something special for E3, eh? I may look forward to E3 this year. For once.

What do you think about the promises? Should we be tracking them? It does seem they are learning from the mistakes of W2 and W1. They are certainly claiming to address them...

From what I've read, it sounds like TW2 combat improved just as I would do it. I am wondering how the witcher's sense will be implemented. That's the only thing that concerns me regarding combat.

"CD Projekt Red has decided against having multiplayer in The Witcher 3, explaining to me that it has "no place" in a "strongly story-driven game".

"Yes, I can confirm this," Michal Platkow-Gilewski, head of marketing, told me."

For misogynistic pron-producers, they are quite something, neh?

I rather like their insolent refusal to bow to convention. Is it a facet of their distance from the U.S. market do you think? Deep, adult writing, truly branching plotlines, unapologetic coverage of racist, sexist and political themes.

Can't think of anyone else who really walks right into those arenas in terms of RPG games. Or many games. GTA, outside the silly teenager antics? The old days of Black Isle?

No one else really. I see glimpses of it when I can talk about religion with Ashley in ME1, or the drugs and blood sucking in FO3 and Oblivion. Maybe I'm overly optimistic but I truly believe CDPR is run by a bunch gamers and artists. That can't hurt.

I think Rockstar gets into those areas as well, but that's not in RPG space and not exactly in the same style as CDPR.

I think there are chanced of having some king of co-op mode or something in CP77 considering the game/setting/source, but there are chances they might scrape that and make this also a pure 100+ hour SP experience. Cool either way

I think GTA's writing is very "in your face" (yes, there are ads with chicks peeing in bottles of beer, the corruption, stupidity and perversion of certain characters are so obvious...) and all, but GTAIV specially has become quite sophisticated. I liked playing the immigrant and getting character development of the non-criminal elements (like Kate McReary) through the widely hated hanging out sections, and I liked playing the immigrant, and an immigrant that doesn't conform to the stereotypes and stigmas that more prestigious media would give a character of its kind (neither Niko or Roman are depicted as yokels from a third world country, they show genuine depth and reinforce the criticism on american societyy). And despite the writing being so "in your face" I can only appreciate how well the story of the game and DLC are interwoven with each other and with the radio stations, online newspapers, etc.

Don't really like Rockstar's writing, but being American I can easily see their cinematic inspirations, and I get tired of games trying to be movies. I like CDPR because they have a fresh take on things, nothing seems overly familiar.

Mm. Very much what slim said. I do like Rockstar's writing, (instantly contradicting myself), but more in terms of dialogue, grit, etc. Overall, it's kind of hackneyed and very done. Perhaps if I hadn't seen "Heat" or "Training Day" or every other media version that Rockstar bases their stuff off of about a billion times already.

Red Dead Redemption was well-written and not as done.

Yep. Rockstar plays the glamorized thug angle to no end. Except RDR, which I would play were it on PC and didn't have 2 forms of DRM and a 44556 GB download. For now, I'll take CDPR's gritty and unconventional writing. I like that their sources for inspiration are literature, not what the latest hit on HBO was.

while the biggest hit on HBO is sourced from classic literature, just saying lol

Wait, what other drm does PS3 have? isn't 'keep the disc inside forever caged' not enough?
