Witcher 3 Graphics

Some people just need something to complain about. I have both a digital copy on XBox One and my PC CE and the PC graphics are quiet a bit better, in my opinion.

Seriously, we're getting an awesome game, DRM-free with mod tools. The graphics look great. I'm someone who loves PC as my primary gaming platform. At the most, I'm slightly disappointed.

Exactly my thoughts. Yeah it's nice but it runs like crap...like 25-30 fps or something with stuttering. I know I tried it. :) Plus, this is a corridor Gears Of War type of game. It's a lot easier putting out amazing graphics when your field of view is not even 100 meters...lolll!!

HAHAHA! I was about to say, your response was confusing. Probably best to quote someone next time.

For some reason I can't quote or edit my posts....It just sits there loading and loading and loading...lolll!!!

Oh now seems I can..lolll!! ..Changed browser...

I think this is exactly why many are complaining. The Order is a tech demo that shows what Last-Gen PC hardware can deliver *IF* the game is optimized specifically for 1 particular set of hardware. Think of what can be achieved if a game is specifically optimized and design for GTX 980/970 R9 290X/290. Of course nobody will do that because sales. Seen Zelda U's trailer? Even the Wii U's hardware is capable something like that if specially optimized. It becomes even easier if it were a level by level stage by stage interactive cinematic movie.

Many are comparing TW3 to Skyrim with 4K texture mods or even TW2... Firstly, my personal preference. I dont look overdone textures. Texture that are too sharp and bright screams "fake", its especially painful to watch if they look out of place and dont blend well. I much prefer an overall feel that blends together. It is not really a fair comparison as screenshots dont really do TW3 justice - TW3 looks awesome when you are standing in a middle of the forest and the wind is howling. Everything just comes to live and it is not just another pretty picture.

Does making this game for consoles affected the graphics of TW3. I would agree that it does. Especially since even on 1440p I am only using like 4GB of system RAM and 1.5GB VRAM... so there is definitely room for improvement. Does it look ugly because of this? No.

As for the 2013 E3 trailer... I dont really feel that huge a difference. Yes, some texture seems to be different and some of the camera angle showed in that trailer is totally different from the camera angle we have now. Also it mixed game footage, awesome camera angle footage with CG footage to create a sense of awesomeness that I would say .... mislead and misguided the expectation of many.

Even without consoles, we really should not be expecting a huge leap in graphics for PCs. Just look at the new graphic cards of the pass few years. They no longer offer that huge a performance leap like they did a decade ago. Basically we are getting more cores, more power consumption (except maxwell), more cards SLI/Crossfire. Unless... someone is crazy enough to create games specifically optimized for 5-10% of the PC market.

the order is not a good game i dont think anyone's arguing that , i linked it because the dude said that consoles cant produce next gen graphics , the order and dragon inquisition make claim a joke, also remember that the witcher 3 e3 demo ( the griffin hunt ) was shown on an Xbox ( arguably the weaker of the two next gen consoles ) anyways i have delayed this thread enough. cheers.

Post some pics so the rest of us can be jealous.

These are just quickies, mostly to illustrate the framerate. Should really find an amazing shot location and take some screens from there.

You need to understand that when people claim that PS4 and XBox1 cant produce "next gen" graphics they dont mean that they cant produce the games we are having today. PS4 and XBox1's GPU is not as powerful that last gen GTX 660. When games a specifically designed and optimized for the said hardware: PS4/XBox1/GTX 660 - that is exactly what we are getting now. 1080p/900p 30fps at medium settings.

I would go as far as to say that if a game is specially designed and optimized for GTX 560Ti will be as good as any PS4/XBox1 games to date - a 4 year old card which puts it as last gen. If a game is designed and optimized specifically for PC hardware - we would have seen games that look like The Order or Dragon Age Inquisition 5 years ago.

As for Dragon Age Inquisition, think about the things they can give you or not give you (plastic hair) if they didnt also want to make it available on PS3 and XBox360. Currently console owners cannot fathom the idea/concept/frustration of PC owners today because everything is scaled down towards them.

However!

What goes around comes around, I believe soon tablets, handheld or nvidia shield will have GPU comparable to consoles today and if games sells best on those handhelds, game companies will start to optimize and design games specifically for those hardware and port it to console all with slightly better texture and a few more post-processes. :p

here is some of my eye candy; was just flipping about finding decent shots with draw distance and effects etc
frame rate is top left.
running an i7 with a 970gtx @ 1080
mostly set to HIGH with full hairworks. avg fps is 58-60 with occasional drops to upper 40's low 50's (see full sunset shot with large draw distance and Geralts sowrds in the bottom of frame: just outside this image are a group of wild horses being attacked by 2 wolves and wild dog..i believe this was the causes of the FPS drop as well as draw distance)
NOTE: fraps seems to compress image quality? not used it for ages so it might be old version or some settings ive not clicked. so apologies for them not being true res.

Honestly, Can't they give us the original "game" for us PC users?

I once modded Skyrim, i followed Neovalen's guide, "Skyrim revisited Legendary", over 100+ texture packs, the game looked stunning and my lowest FPS hovered between 35-40 in the most demanding areas... and My PC is almost 5 years old!!!

So don't say that modern day PCs cannot handle such graphics.

So, is it possible to release a texture pack bring back the graphics tho their original level?

Shouldn't this be in the possession of CDPR already?

Can someone tell me is semivolumetric cloud still in game other than kaermorhen? Can someone send a picture? And if still in game is that SOD tailer quality level.
